Rebirth: The Universe's Hidden Heiress-Chapter 91: Meeting Bartland (1)
Chapter 91: Meeting Bartland (1)
A robust arm reached up onto the beach.
The man, tall and powerfully built, had dark, sun-kissed skin. His face was marked by a white scar slanting from his eyebrow down to the corner of his mouth, splitting his face as if into two halves.
Eagle stood up, spitting out a mouthful of salty seawater.
He had been in the Alliance prison for three months. Ever since that helmeted woman broke his limbs and handed him over to the Alliance Army, he had been relentlessly interrogated. But he never betrayed Deadman.
And it was fortunate he hadn’t. Otherwise, Deadman would never have let him off the hook, let alone bomb the Alliance prison to help him escape.
Eagle, still shaken, recalled the explosion.
Deadman had flown a spaceship directly over the prison and dropped bombs, indifferent to the fate of those inside.
At the same time, Eagle couldn’t help but feel a twisted delight knowing that the Alliance Army must be in utter chaos. With so many criminals, including vicious murderers, now on the loose, they would struggle to overpower them.
As soon as Deadman dropped the bombs, his large spaceship was hit by the Alliance Army. Deadman ordered them to abandon it for a smaller escape craft, but that too was struck, forcing an emergency landing on this planet.
Deadman had mentioned that it was a training planet, likely with UUA students present.
Eagle flexed his muscles, preparing to move. He had seen two people on the shore when he swam over; they couldn’t have gone far.
Like a swift eagle, he surged forward.
A few hundred meters ahead, Yuka asked the butler in her mental domain, "Have you contacted Kenji? Did you call the Alliance Army?"
The butler replied, "I’ve informed Mr. Kuba and reported to the Alliance Army. They said they’ll arrive soon, but the situation at the Alliance prison also requires attention, so they might be delayed."
Elsewhere, upon receiving the invasion alert, the planet’s overseer immediately informed Kenji and, in a flurry, led the security team out to protect the students.
Kenji, upon receiving the message, urgently directed all students to the meeting point, instructing them to call for help and report their location if they encountered space pirates.
After sending the message, Kenji summoned his subordinates for support and asked the overseer, "Isn’t there surveillance on the training field?"
The overseer, sweating profusely, replied, "It’s the end of the year, and the cameras are under maintenance..."
Kenji’s brow furrowed deeply in frustration.
Fortunately, most of the students hadn’t gone far and quickly returned to the assembly point.
Kenji instructed some guards to stay and protect the students while he led others to search different areas.
In the rugged mountain terrain, after receiving Yuka’s message, Kenji pulled a trembling student aside. He shot a space pirate in the leg, then broke the pirate’s arm with a stomp as it reached out in resistance.
Kenji demanded fiercely, "Where are the other pirates?"
The pirate, pale with pain and sweating profusely, met Kenji’s icy gaze. Knowing a wrong answer could mean instant death, he hastily said, "I don’t know... Please, no shooting! After escaping the Alliance prison, we landed at sea. Deadman told us to scatter, find a Lev vehicle, and meet at a safe point."
Kenji had his team tie up the pirate and take him away, then directed the rest to lead the nearly fainting student to gather in front of the white building. He quickly headed towards Yuka’s location on the beach map.
The coconut grove on the beach wasn’t dense, and the gaps between the trees were wide. Eagle soon spotted the two fleeing figures.
Running swiftly across the sand, he caught up with Fred, clamping his arm tightly and yanking him backward.
Fred’s heart skipped a beat in terror. Forced into a fall, he landed in the arms of his pursuer, who gripped his neck tightly.
As Fred struggled for air, the grip tightened, so Fred dared not move and stood still. freeweɓnøvel.com
Fred desperately watched Yuka’s retreating figure, internally screaming, ’Since when she has become a runner? She’s supposed to be weaker than I!’
Trying to leverage his status, Fred said to eAGLE, "I am Fred O’cassy, the eldest son of the current emperor. If you dare harm me, you will surely..."
"Don’t care who the hell you are," Eagle snapped, tightening his grip, making Fred’s face redden and cough incessantly. Then, shouting, Eagle demanded, "Do you have a Lev?"
Struggling, Fred gasped out, "...um... no?"
Eagle’s voice grew louder, his grip firmer. "Do you or don’t you? If you’re lying, you’ll be dead right now."
Tears came out of Fred’s eyes as he rasped, "I really don’t have one."
Fred thought his plea would spare him, but he underestimated the brutality of a space pirate and overestimated his morality.
Eagle tightened his grip, intent on strangling him.
Fred struggled desperately, feeling death’s closeness for the first time, fear and regret flooding his mind. He silently begged for anyone to save him.
Eagle, with a dark expression, gripped Fred’s contorted body. To him, Fred was now useless and needed to be silenced, regardless of his royal status. Deadman had always harbored ambitions against the Alliance royalty. Eagle now realized that killing this prince might even earn him a reward.
"Let go," a familiar voice commanded, a voice that haunted Eagle’s nightmares.
Yuka approached him. "Won’t let go? Do you want me to break your arms and legs again?"
Yuka had been running when she noticed the silence behind her. Turning back, she realized Fred was missing.
Eagle, caught off guard and fearful, instinctively released his grip.
Fred, now free, scrambled towards Yuka, clinging to her pant leg, trembling as he begged, "Help me."
He didn’t understand why the usually meek Yuka suddenly seemed so powerful, or why Eagle, who seemed to know her, was terrified of her. Yet, inexplicably, Fred felt Yuka could protect him. He hoped she wouldn’t hold his past mockery against him, wouldn’t leave him to die.
For the first time, facing a life-or-death situation, Fred felt a tinge of regret.
Eagle’s expression shifted, and he decided to test Yuka first. He couldn’t believe this frail girl was the same formidable woman who had once shattered his bones. Perhaps she had learned of that woman from the interstellarnet and was pretending to be her.
Resolved, Eagle lunged at Yuka with a punch. Yuka dodged his massive fist and countered with a punch to his jaw.
There was a crisp "crack," and Eagle felt his jaw shatter again.
Eagle intended to surrender and beg for mercy, but Yuka didn’t even give him the chance to speak.
She kicked him in the ribs, tripped him with her leg as he staggered back, then grabbed his arm and swung him into a nearby coconut tree. The tree snapped, falling slowly, kicking up a cloud of sand.
