Reborn; A Slave to the World-Chapter 77: The Abyss (3)
Chapter 77: The Abyss (3)
Of course I’ll be able to beat the monsters thrown at me, I’m strong enough to handle them if I focus enough on it. My father in this world was a pretty good fighter so I did learn a lot from him.
Even if I’m still not the best swordsmans in the world, one day it could be possible if I keep pushing my limits. I’ve beaten a lot of strong enemies that have gone against me already.
My sword skills aren’t the worst but there are things I could brush up on over time.
He grips his sword a bit tighter before searching throughout the shop for anything useful. Eventually he finds a book with the title "The forgotten hero" and tosses it back on the counter.
I don’t think that will be useful to me here so maybe there’s something else I can use in this shop. Heroes don’t seem to exist in this world anyway, what good would that do for someone like me.
I’m not even sure I know what I’m looking for in here yet— Anything that could help me with the fights ahead would be lovely but so far I’m not seeing a damn thing.
Everything in the shop is kind of useless now that I’m looking more closely at it all, maybe one of the other buildings outside will be useful.
Artemis heads back outside and can see that the other buildings are still around with the shimmer of light on each one. It seems that they all still have something special about them that he needs to find.
I don’t know what I’m supposed to be looking for or if I’m just going to be fighting a series of different monsters in here, but this is a pain in the ass.
He heads for the building directly across from him, it appears to be an old barracks building for the guards that use to be there. The sign was just as faded as the one at the shop.
There’s no point in me hesitating to go inside since I need to see what’s waiting for me in there anyway. None of these places are familiar to me so it doesn’t really matter right?
I don’t see many reasons for me to care about the importance of these damn buildings. He enters the barracks, inside are lots of skeletons from the previous soldiers who stayed there.
The barracks was clearly abandoned a long time ago with no one left to tell the story of what happened. No living soul was here to meet with Artemis or to tell him about the meaning of everything here.
Shining in the distant hallway was a sword that caught his eye. The bright silver blade glistens in the light, it’s dark black hilt, handle, and even the blue gem on the end of it seems to be pretty hard to ignore.
The sword ahead is plenty reason for me to continue on through the barracks— I don’t know what could be hiding in the room with it though.
I’m willing to take the risk to take the sword so it doesn’t matter how many monsters I have to fight for it to be mine. Strength is earned after all, why would it ever be given easily to me.
He begins to run down the hallway with his sword in hand as he listens for any potential attackers. Nothing but silence fills the air as he continues to run, eventually after a couple of minutes pass by, he makes it to the sword.
It was inside of some pedestal with nothing but darkness surrounding it, the only light seems to be coming in from a mysterious spot in the ceiling.
I’m not sure what to expect in here with it being so quiet... Not one person or monster decided to rush in to attack me as I ran for this sword. There’s got to be some sort of catch here, or maybe it’ll trigger the moment I take the sword out from the pedestal.
Nothing is ever this easy for anyone.
The girl comes out from the shadows and she seems to resemble the goddess from the strange flowery field. The only difference is that she looks a lot like a younger version of the goddess, maybe when she was a kid.
I don’t understand what’s going on here right now but this girl looks a lot like the goddess from my dreams. The resemblance is definitely there so I don’t get what I’m supposed to say or do.
"I forgot that this is the first time you’re actually seeing me." She says with a slight smile forming on her face.
"Why do you look just like her?" Artemis asks with a confused tone in his voice. He stumbles back a few feet.
Does this mean that the goddess has been helping me with every one of these fights from the beginning? Has this just been some cruel game that she’s been playing with me to get me to rely on her.
I know she is the one who granted me these powers, abilities, magic or whatever else you want to call it. I’m just not sure why she’d be helping me this much with all the fights I’ve been through. fгeewebnovёl.com
Gods and goddesses don’t seem to be present in everyone’s lives so why is she so active in mine?
"There’s a lot of questions that I’m sure you have but I’ll answer them if you get through everything here." She answers with a calm tone in her voice.
I still don’t get why she’s got to be so damn mysterious about everything with her life, why can’t I just be told already?! I’ve already been through quite a lot with her, haven’t I earned it by now...
"Does that mean I’ll learn your name?" Artemis questions while trying to remain calm about the situation.
That sword is still calling to me but I can’t ignore that she’s standing in front of me like this. Telling me that I will get answers after I’m done getting through the trials here basically.
That’s what they are, trials.
