Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 51 [Save list]
Chapter 51: 51 [Save list]
Four hours later, they arrived in B City. The streets were quieter at this hour, the usual bustle dimmed by the lateness of the night.
Yizhou pulled up in front of her apartment building and turned off the engine, the hum of the car fading into silence.
Feng Yizhou unfastened his seatbelt but didn’t move to get out immediately. Instead, he pulled the car keys from the ignition and held them out to her.
"You should keep these," he said. "It’s yours."
Qingran glanced at the keys, then at him. He had driven the entire way back, she had forgotten whose car it was. Without a word, she took them, slipping them into her pocket.
"I won’t be able to see you for a few days," Feng Yizhou continued, leaning back slightly. "I have to take care of some things at the company."
She gave him a flat look. "The apocalypse is coming. What do you need money for?"
He smiled faintly. "Well, I have a feeling this apocalypse might be different."
Qingran narrowed her eyes slightly. His tone was light, but the weight behind his words wasn’t lost on her.
He wasn’t someone who made meaningless preparations. So how did he view this coming apocalypse?
She didn’t press further. Instead, she opened the door and stepped out, the night air cool against her skin. Feng Yizhou followed, retrieving his case from the backseat.
As he shut the door, he glanced at her. "I’ll contact you when I’m done."
Qingran gave a brief nod and turned toward her apartment entrance. She didn’t watch him leave. There was no need. They both had their own work to do.
"I don’t want to go to work tomorrow...this is annoying, I don’t want to make pills or virus anymore, if the apocalypse wasn’t coming. I would have resigned and just did sports instead. At least my basketball skills won’t go to waste.."
[Ding! Did host say basketball skills? You’re only 170cm how did you get on the team?]
"...."
"What you think being 170cm I can’t get on the team?"
[Ding! Yes. Exactly! You’re too SHORT]
"Bullshit, I might be 170cm but I Gu Qingran was the best player in the team, I was even given scholarship, don’t look down on my ability because of my might. Besides these skills also helped me during the apocalypse, you wouldn’t know.."
[Ding! Oh! Is that a challenge? Very well, I’ll give you a chance, to show this godly skills of yours.]
[Ding! New mission. Rewards? I’ll think about it, failure to complete mission: Excruciating pain for 40 minutes]
"...."
"Aren’t you taking this a little too far?" Qingran said with a deadpan expression.
[Ding! No. Host should be grateful for the opportunity to prove herself.]
Qingran exhaled sharply, pressing a hand against her forehead. This damned system.
She stepped into the lobby of her apartment building, the quiet hum of the elevator greeting her as she pressed the button. The doors slid open smoothly, and she stepped inside, letting the familiar ding signal her ascent.
"At least tell me what the mission is first."
[Ding! It’s simple. Play a full game of basketball and win.]
Qingran narrowed her eyes. "That’s it?"
[Ding! That’s it. But if Host truly has ’godly skills,’ then winning shouldn’t be a problem, right?]
She clicked her tongue. It was baiting her, and she knew it. But still, she wasn’t about to back down from something this simple.
"Fine. I’ll do it."
[Ding! You have until tomorrow to complete the mission.]
Qingran’s steps halted just as she reached her door. She turned her head slightly, expression blank. "...Tomorrow?" freeweɓnøvel.com
[Ding! Yes. Since Host is so confident, there’s no need to drag it out.]
She exhaled slowly, pressing her fingers against the bridge of her nose. "So, let me get this straight. You want me to find a game, play, and win—all by tomorrow?"
[Ding! Correct! Surely that’s not a problem for someone with ’godly skills.’]
Qingran clenched her jaw. This damn system was enjoying itself.
She unlocked her door, stepping inside and flicking on the light. Dropping her bag onto the couch, she pulled out her phone and checked the time
9pm, no one would be out to game this late.
Where the hell was she supposed to find a game at this hour?
"I’ll just go to my old place tomorrow and play with those high school kids. Wouldn’t be an issue.."
[Ding! Haha I hope you’re right]
"You’re so petty, do you know that?"
[Ding! Yes I know, I’m the pettiest system you’ll ever meet. So don’t challenge me.."
Qingran flicked her hair, she wouldn’t brag about skills she didn’t have.
"I can challenge you however I want, because I have the ability to back it up. But before I go to the court tomorrow, I need to visit an old friend of mine, she’ll surely get me the medicine supply I’m sure.."
It was time to call her good ol friend, Kuroba Anya.
She placed her dirty clothes in the laundry and changed out of the gown, she took a quick shower and wore a comfortable shirt and short, she was too lazy to cook, so she took whatever snack she found in the fridge.
And headed to the living room in her slippers, she turned on the Tv, while fishing out her phone.
She opened her QQ and searched for Anya’s chat, luckily she was online when she found it.
They hadn’t talked in months but to Qingran it had been years, she couldn’t remember the last time she saw Anya.
[An’er wanna play a game, our old high school place, you up?]
The chat show read in less than a second and soon the typing function was showing.
[Qingqing! Where the hell have you been! And of course I wanna game, I can’t remember the last time we did. Luckily I’m free tomorrow, I’ll just go for a run tomorrow. I haven’t played basketball in a while and we’re no longer teenagers, we can’t risk it]
Qingran smiled, she missed this talkative friend of hers.
[Ding! Would host like to add Kuroba Anya, to the newly formed Save list? Adding people on this list, means you’ve promised to protect these lives and help them see the apocalypse through]
