Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1687: Battling An Immortal
-----
"DAMN IT ALL!"
Ken roared, unleashing a Ki Blast that obliterated half of the Fox Spirit’s body—only for it to slowly regenerate again. The beast lunged forward, releasing a breath attack that sent him flying straight into the waiting arms of Nyx and Arachne.
At the same time, Alma began conjuring a powerful spell, while both girls welcomed the old man with a flurry of fists, kicks, and potent magic.
"NGAAAAHHH!"
Overwhelmed, Ken roared like a beast, struggling to overpower the two little Calamities, only to be caught off guard by their relentless magic spells.
"He’s all yours, Alma!"
"Take him!"
Despite their efforts, Ken’s strength was overwhelming. Even Nyx and Arachne were beginning to get tired, their scales and exoskeletons cracking, their bodies bruised.
They were desperate to finish him quickly. No matter how many debuffs or curses he endured, the man just kept fighting—unyielding, like a beast.
"Damn brats, what the hell are you doing?!"
He kept landing punches—striking their faces, chests, shoulders, and anything else his massive hands could reach. But the girls withstood the damage, and then, divine flames surged from their legs as they kicked him down with full force.
"Uuuunnggh?!"
As he crashed into Alma’s spell, the girl smiled. Dozens of paper talismans glowed around her. Melianna smiled too, finally finding her place in this party of overpowered beings.
"{Spiritual Mana Redirection Barrier Formation}!"
The talismans absorbed Spiritual Mana from the formation itself, redirecting it into Alma, who then infused it into her staff.
Suddenly, Alma’s appearance transformed again. She fused with her Dream Weapon, her pink hair streaked with blue, her body adorned with blue scales, gills, and a long, fish-like tail.
Her aura exploded with power as she unleashed her ultimate spell.
"Take this! {Eternal Glacial Coffin}!"
FLUOOOSH!
Ice surged from below, and Ken fell straight into it. The frost quickly engulfed his entire body.
"GUAAAAHHHH!"
He screamed in agony as the ice froze him solid. His hands stopped inches from Alma’s head, his body locked in place like a giant frozen statue—then encased in even more ice, forming a coffin of frost crystals.
Maria smiled at the sight. One of the Murim Alliance’s Martial Artists had been taken care of.
"Hahaha! What’s wrong? Is this all you’ve got?!"
The White Mist Immortal mocked her as he blitzed through the skies, his golden pole suddenly growing tenfold, constantly catching up to her as she fell.
"Ah, sorry. I was a little distracted. What were we doing again?"
"Distracted?! You’re terrible at bluffing, stupid woman!"
The White Mist Immortal grinned viciously. His golden pole melted into pure spiritual gold, wrapping around his body and forming a glorious golden armor.
"Do you know what this weapon is made of? The Golden Dragon Emperor’s scales! It can change shape when imbued with Ki! Behold my armor—The Golden Thunderstorm Dragon Armor! Isn’t it magnificent?! This is the power of an Immortal! Compared to us, you mortals are nothing but ants!"
"Pretty amazing."
Maria responded calmly, summoning dozens of black bones that fused into heavy armor around her body. It hardened into dark black steel, blazing with phantasmal flames.
"I can do something similar. I call it Bone Armor. I use the bones of my Undead to create it, then reinforce it with Nether and Mana."
"...Hah. Hahahah! T-That’s just a stupid armor with no real power!"
The Immortal charged, his armor overflowing with Draconic Ki. His white mist transformed into golden clouds swirling around him.
"{Yellow Cloud Arts}: {Golden Dragon Fangs}!"
His fists overflowed with yellow, cloud-like aura, transforming into massive dragon jaws that bit into Maria. Her armor held, enduring the explosive golden flames and thunder.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
"My turn."
Maria’s eyes gleamed. Her aura surged, transforming into hundreds of phantasmal hands. She unleashed a power the White Mist Immortal had never seen.
"{Divine Spectral Asura’s Endless Limbs}"
"What?!"
His eyes widened as hundreds of spectral limbs manifested, each wielding reinforced bone weapons, striking him from every direction.
At last, his overconfidence slowed him down—giving Maria the opening she needed.
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
"Guaaaaack!?"
The White Mist Immortal screamed in pain. His golden armor held, but bruises and scratches began to appear.
Then—cracks.
"N-No!"
Panicking, he spun midair, punching Maria away with a thunderous blast, then flew higher into the sky, trying to gain distance.
"Hm, this should be enough."
"W-What are you talking about?!"
Maria’s eyes glowed bright red. A smile spread across her flawless, pale face. She raised her hand, and a blue rune formed—crafted from phantasmal energy.
And then...
"{Life Draining Abyssal Curse Rune}"
TRUUUM!
"Ngh?! Eh?! Aaaahhh!"
The White Mist Immortal flailed comically as his body and armor were covered in hundreds of glowing blue ghostly runes.
They began draining his lifeforce and Ki every second—so fast he could barely comprehend it.
"Usually, enemies can resist this if they shield their lifeforce well enough. But this guy? Aside from his Mist tricks, he’s got no real defense."
Maria absorbed the Immortal Ki greedily. Her aura glowed brighter, more powerful. Each droplet of essence carried knowledge—his techniques, his power.
Suddenly, she felt a flicker of enlightenment. A glimpse of white mist, clouds, and thunder in her mind.
"E-ENOUGH!"
The White Mist Immortal screamed in horror. After losing over 40% of his total Ki, his Dantians trembled in pain, and his Meridians nearly shut down. He unleashed all his power at once, manifesting his Martial Soul.
RUMBLE!
A massive swirl of colorful mist and clouds appeared, forming a dragon-like figure with three heads—red, golden, and white. Thunder, flames, and blood energy surged from within.
The runes burned away into ash as Maria gazed at the Martial Soul in awe, nodding with a calm smile.
"That was amazing. Is this what you call a Martial Soul? Elder Wu Lieng and his apprentices didn’t have anything like this," Maria said. "Well, would you say mine is similar?"
"DIE!"
The White Mist Immortal didn’t bother answering. He dove down, unleashing a deadly barrage of strikes. Thunder, flames, and mist exploded with every blow. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Maria met him head-on, intercepting his attacks with hundreds of phantasmal limbs and bone weapons. She unleashed techniques of her own, slowly evening the match.
But the White Mist Immortal had one more ace up his sleeve.
"You’ve forced my hand!"
