Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1821: Seleneum’s Love
-----
Maria had checked repeatedly: the food produced by the moon was neither toxic nor poisonous, nor would it drive anyone mad.
Yet it remained deeply bizarre.
This entity sustained these people with its own flesh and blood.
But why?
"I suppose I’ll find my answer when I accept that ’invitation,’ huh?"
She closed her eyes and allowed a portion of her consciousness to flow into the invisible barrier of moonlight energy.
It led her into a Mindscape.
The inner world of this being’s mind.
There, Maria found herself walking across purple grass, surrounded by pink trees and luminous moonlight flora and fauna.
Instead of the moon’s black sky, a soft pink expanse stretched overhead, lit by a bright white sun.
"...What is this place?"
Maria scanned her surroundings and noticed a tall figure in the distance—resembling a Moon Elf, yet far more alien.
Its body was longer and more elongated, fingers stretched thin, head extended, and eyes a pale gray instead of purple.
Six long ears framed its face, and its hair consisted of writhing tentacles.
"An alien?"
She approached the creature, who wore a flowing dress of white silk.
It gazed down at a river of silver water, identical to the moon’s lifeblood.
"Who are you?"
Maria spoke directly.
The being regarded its reflection for a moment before turning to her.
"I am who my children call Seleneum. It is nice to meet you, Maria."
"An Astral Avatar, I presume. I have already seen your true body."
"Yes, you are not wrong."
"So you are the Goddess then? You felt like an Outer God, but you are too small. You cannot be a newborn Outer God, nor does it feel like an Egg."
"Outer God? No. I am simply me. I have traveled through space for eons since detaching from my creator."
"Detachment?"
"I belong to a species of large beings that dwell very far away. We orbit planets rich with life and slowly consume that life."
"...?!"
Maria’s eyes widened in shock.
All this time, the Elves had been living atop the very monster that devoured every trace of life on their original world!
"Y-You...! So you are a monster, then."
"..."
Seleneum sighed, gazing once more at her reflection.
"I am..."
Her voice carried deep sadness, a quiet disappointment in herself.
As though she truly regretted what she had done.
"But it was in my nature... I could not stop it. I will not shift the blame—it is my fault that the beautiful world my children once knew is now a barren desert."
"Ironic. Now the Tower has caught you, believing you to be a world, and threatens to consume you. You nearly died."
"I know... it was karma, as some from other worlds might say. A part of me felt this was what I deserved."
"So you truly regret it?"
Maria fell silent, studying Seleneum closely.
Indeed, it had been part of her nature, encoded in her very being, her instincts, her genes—to devour living worlds.
She could not resist.
"I was still young when I did it. The people below never knew it was me... they built a colony upon my surface. At one point, I even considered consuming them."
"..."
"But I did not... I do not know why I changed. These people living above me had their own lives, their own voices. For the first time, I was no longer alone."
"...I see."
"I felt that if I ate them, I would be... truly sad. Truly lonely. And I did not want to be alone again."
"So you really changed... you even feed them now. And you transformed them into Moon Elves."
"I am... trying to atone for destroying their world. I nourish them. I grant them power. In return, they offer me Faith—a strange energy that has elevated my consciousness and soul to higher realms. And when they die and are buried, I consume their remains. Everything returns to me."
"...Huh."
Maria had no intention of judging that. The dead had passed naturally; it was not as though they were murdered.
"Still a little strange."
"Any planet consumes the life that dies upon its surface, does it not?"
"Yeah... I suppose. Fair enough."
Seleneum looked at Maria with a gentle, almost shy smile.
"Thank you for helping my children fight back. For saving me... even though I did not deserve it."
"What do you plan to do now?"
Maria crossed her arms and posed the crucial question.
"I do not wish for the Tower to consume me. I want to continue protecting my children... I have heard you are fighting to destroy it."
"I am. I have already recruited many gods across the Tower."
"Impressive... I trust you. Would you allow me to join you? Despite the monster that I am?"
Maria remained quiet for a moment before nodding.
"Very well. You seem strong, so I will accept. When the time comes, I will call upon your help."
"Thank you. What are your plans?"
"You can read my mind and find out."
"Fufu, I refrained because it is considered rude, but very well."
Seleneum gently probed Maria’s thoughts and learned everything. Her expression filled with astonishment.
"Incredible... you have devised not one plan, but over five?!"
"One for every possible scenario."
"Hah... you are truly admirable. Would you like to become my child? Drink my blood, and you will gain immense power."
"No, thank you."
"Ahh... well, I tried. Then at the very least, accept this."
Seleneum approached Maria and manifested an artifact from her own Consciousness, Soul, and Divine Moonlight Energy.
It took the form of a moon-shaped mirror.
"This is a Mind Relic. They have no physical form but exist within the mind. When placed inside your Consciousness, they enhance your thinking power, learning ability, and more."
"First time I have seen one of these. Interesting... alright, thank you."
"You are welcome."
Seleneum nodded, then smiled at Maria with a faint blush.
"Huh? What?"
"My Oracle could not convince you, but to repay you... I am also willing to give myself to you."
She smiled sweetly. Maria felt a strange flutter, this form was an exotic alien beauty, at least within the Mindscape.
Even though her true body was a tentacled, meatball-like entity.
"Ah... I already have enough lovers. I cannot... please."
"This is only a realm of the mind. It would never happen outside..."
Seleneum slowly undressed, revealing her slender, graceful form.
Perhaps because Maria herself was somewhat alien, the sight felt strangely alluring.
"..."
Maria intended to leave, yet she found herself staring too long.
Without realizing, she spent an entire hour with her.
Seleneum’s soft moans were endearing, sending gentle tremors across the moon.
Maria proved far more passionate than Seleneum had imagined, kissing her everywhere and exploring new sensations.
It was almost intoxicating. They interlocked the tentacles on their heads, forging an even deeper connection—sharing every feeling completely.
"Haa... Alien sex is crazy. I am never doing this again..."
Maria sighed, sitting naked on the purple grassland while Seleneum lay in blissful exhaustion.
"Alright, I am going, Seleneum. Let us consider this our little secret."
Maria leaned down, kissed her lips gently, and swiftly departed.
