Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1842: Laura’s New Master
-----
"So, what do you think? Want to eat breakfast here? Unlike our house, this huge building is big enough for all of us to eat comfortably," Maria said.
"I... wouldn’t mind!" Laura nodded. "I’m quite hungry, heh."
"Excellent," the Heavenly Demon replied. "Maria, shall we cook something using special ingredients to further awaken her Meridians and Dantian? I’ll also prepare some pills with Mystic Herbs and Spirit Roots to lay the beginning of her foundation."
"Alright then!" Maria nodded eagerly. "Let’s do this! Let’s make my sister into the reliable big sister she wants to be!"
"Heheh! Yeah!" Laura giggled, feeling as if she were in a dream. "LET’S FUCKING DO THIS!"
"Hahaha!" The Heavenly Demon laughed at her enthusiasm. "So eager—you remind me of my wife."
"Y-You’re taken?!" Laura gasped, her face paling.
"She... passed away a long time ago," the Heavenly Demon said, looking down with sorrow in his eyes. "But thanks to your sister, we were able to free her and my children’s souls from the monster that had devoured them. She promised me that one day... she would return after reincarnating."
"Ah, oops, I guess... I don’t even have a chance, heh..." Laura sighed.
"Come on now, Laura," the Heavenly Demon said gently. "There’s more to life than romance. I made a promise to her... but that doesn’t mean we cannot become master and disciple. My disciples are like my children, and I love them all equally."
"...I wouldn’t mind that either," Laura said, her eyes glowing brightly. "Okay! Let’s do it!"
Maria could tell that at least 70% of her sister’s motivation stemmed from the fact that the Heavenly Demon was an incredibly handsome and charming man.
In fact, that was precisely why she had brought him here—she knew his presence would inspire Laura to train and work hard.
"Alright, let’s eat first!"
Maria and the Heavenly Demon began preparing delicious traditional Murim food—a massive Chinese-style buffet that made Laura’s mouth water instantly.
"So good! It looks amazing! Can we eat already?!" Laura asked.
"How about you first go to the bathroom, take a bath, and change clothes?" the Heavenly Demon laughed. "I’ve left your new robes as the disciple of the Heavenly Demonic Dragon Sect!"
"There are lots of bath salts and essential oils—use them all! They’ll make you stronger too, so you’ll look extra pretty!" Maria winked.
"Ooho! Okay!" Laura nodded and rushed off.
But she returned moments later, looking a little lost.
"Wait, where’s the bathroom in this place?" she asked.
"Over there..." Maria said. "I’ll give you a tour."
Maria showed her sister the entire palace, then led her to the beautiful, luxurious bathrooms. The huge bathtubs resembled steaming pools filled with healing, spiritually enriched water.
"Uwaah! This is heaven!" Laura exclaimed, sinking into the warm water. "Maria! You live in this luxury all the time?!"
"Heheh, all of this is now yours too," Maria smiled. "Alright, let me wash your hair. Today I’m spoiling my big sister for all the hard work she’s done so far."
Maria washed her hair carefully and gave her a full-body massage with fragrant, essential oils. When Laura finally stepped out, she looked transformed—ten years younger. Her skin was silky smooth, her hair shone bright and lustrous, and her eyes sparkled with renewed color and life.
"Wow, did I just lose some weight too?" Laura wondered, noticing her concern about a small belly roll having eased.
"Yep! Amazing, right? These are things from Murim!" Maria said proudly. "I tell you, it’s an incredible world, Laura! One day we’ll visit it together."
"Sure...! With Mom, we should tour the tower...!" Laura smiled.
"Of course, we’ll do it for sure," Maria said, kissing her sister’s cheek. "Alright, let’s go eat! I bet you’re starving."
"I am!" Laura complained.
The sisters hurried downstairs, greeting the many disciples living in the grand palace. They were chatting, meditating, or sparring across the vast floors, each filled with dozens of rooms, training arenas, cultivation chambers, meditation terraces, and more.
Back on the main floor, Laura sat at a huge golden table surrounded by majestic pillars shaped like white clouds and dragons. A fresh breeze from the outer realm drifted in. She found herself encircled by Maria’s dear family.
They greeted her with warm, gentle smiles, genuinely happy to see her.
Laura slowly began to realize...
That this wasn’t so bad.
She smiled softly as Maria patted her shoulders and sat beside her, starting to eat noodles together.
"Come on, sis, dig in!"
"Y-Yeah!"
Laura nodded happily and began eating the delicious food. She felt her internal energies stir and spread through her body.
The more she ate, the stronger she felt—and the hungrier she became!
It was as if her newly awakened constitution constantly demanded more food to fuel her emerging powers.
"Wow... This isn’t Mana, right?"
Laura sensed her Aura surging from her body with intense force. She could tell this was no longer just Mana but something else—something far stronger and richer.
"It’s Ki, or Vitality, Life Force—many names," Maria explained. "It combines with Spiritual Energy for Cultivation. And it’s essential for Martial Arts! Mana didn’t originally exist in Murim. Though some sects adapted to it over time—like the Darkwood Sect or the more magician-like Nether Harbor Sect—it’s usually not emphasized."
"But that’s about to change," the Heavenly Demon added. "I’ve already modernized many of my methods, so you don’t have to worry. All the Mana you’ve cultivated won’t go to waste. In fact, even the powers you thought you lost from those blessings will return—such as that Divine Lightning you use. It will be a great ingredient for your further growth."
"Ooohhh!" Laura nodded, growing more and more excited while wearing her beautiful new robes. "I like this dress too! It looks so glamorous!"
"It’s the female attire of my sect," the Heavenly Demon laughed. "We haven’t had a female disciple in ages. It’s nice to finally see that dress being worn..."
"D-Did it belong to someone else before?" Laura asked.
"It was my daughter’s," the Heavenly Demon said with a gentle smile. "It suits you well, Laura."
"A-Are you sure I should have it?!" Laura asked.
"Of course," he replied. "My daughter would have happily given it to you."
"...Thanks," Laura said softly, blushing.
The tension between the two felt surprisingly stronger than Maria had expected.
Was the Heavenly Demon feeling some attraction toward Laura despite his earlier words?
Or was he simply behaving as he always did with his disciples?
"Anyway, I wanted to introduce you to my eldest son—the only living child I have left," the Heavenly Demon said.
"Oh?" Laura wondered if he would be a handsome young man, even more charming than his father.
But an old man who appeared to be in his sixties stepped into the hall. He had long black hair and a beard, looking visibly older than his own father.
He introduced himself. His name was Wu Lieng.
