Chapter 1850: My Mother

-----

"What...! What nonsense is this?! Who’s the mother of these two women?!"

As the Family Head demanded, someone stepped forward from the crowd. Her face filled with terror at the sight of her two daughters.

She was forced to move; his voice wrapped around her neck like an invisible chain...

"I-I..."

The woman tried to shield her children until the last moment, clamping her hands over her mouth to stay silent.

But it was too late.

The old vampire grinned viciously!

With a snap of his fingers, the Vampiress appeared at his side.

"Is this who you’re looking for? Heh...! Hehehehe! Now I have her! If you want her alive, you’ll obey everything I say!"

"M-Mom?!" Maria asked.

"Mom!" Laura cried.

The woman struggled against invisible hands of energy that bound her body.

"L-Laura...! Fran...! I’m so happy you’re alive... but please run...! RUN!"

She was a beautiful vampire lady with long black-and-white hair and red eyes that still held a faint glimmer of green.

"To think our hard-working Jessica had such a past! Then again, I did hear she was working for her kids or something... hohoho. Do you know? This woman was the closest to becoming a Duchess! She slaughtered hundreds of Hunters from your world. All to feed me. Isn’t she such a good servant? And she did it all cold-bloodedly, without question, silently..."

"W-What...?" Laura’s eyes widened as despair began to consume her. "No...! Mom..."

Jessica cried blood, overwhelmed by pain and shame.

"I’m sorry... I’m sorry... I don’t deserve to live... kill me... Please kill me and forget about me..."

"..."

Maria stood silent as she watched her mother scream and weep, begging for death.

She clenched her fists tightly.

Her mother showed deep regret—unlike any of these vampires who reveled in their cruelty.

It was clear she had been forced and had long since surrendered her free will.

That was why she acted so coldly—she could no longer feel anything.

She had become a machine.

All to earn money for them both... no, especially for her, to keep her living body alive all this time.

"Ehehehe! Heheh! I love those faces! Show me more despair! If you don’t want her to die, stay right there and get torn to shreds! Go, my family!"

Over a hundred vampires surged downward. Maria faced them with eyes gleaming golden light.

"And so what?"

She stepped forward and drew a blade from her own chest.

"So what if she killed hundreds?!"

"Hm?"

Sir Drazelith Xarneth glanced at Maria in confusion.

Just what was that sword?

Had she truly pulled it from her own soul?

It wasn’t an item.

It wasn’t an artifact or relic.

It wasn’t magic.

It was...

"She tore apart a piece of her own soul, shaped as a sword?!"

As the thought crossed his mind, a blink later, a massive slash of sword ki erupted.

"{Spectral Ghostly Fist Art: Ninth Form—Dream Chasing Star Blade}"

SLAAASH!

A single slash cleaved all his troops perfectly in half.

Blood and guts sprayed everywhere. Their souls shattered completely.

"A-Ah...! Ahhh! Monster...! I KNOW WHO SHE IS! MARIA...! SHE’S THAT MONSTER THAT KILLED FIVE FAMILY HEADS!!!"

The old man’s hands trembled in horror. Jessica was stunned to hear this.

"My daughter... Maria? What? What’s happening?"

Amid the chaos, Maria and Laura charged forward.

Laura’s heart refused to sink into despair.

The Heavenly Demon techniques steadied her mind.

She regained composure and chose the only sensible path.

Rescue her mother!

It didn’t matter what she had done—that woman was still the dear mother who had sacrificed everything to raise them both.

"We won’t blame her for the things you forced her to do, you old fuck!"

Both sisters unleashed their unique martial arts.

Drazelith’s eyes widened in pure terror.

"D-Don’t get any closer!!!"

He raised his hand, manipulating the wailing souls of his fallen vampires into giant spectral claws.

At the same time, he conjured hundreds of floating word runes, unleashing devastating high-level elemental spells—fire, wind, ice, water, stone, metal, wood, and more—against the sisters.

"NOOO!"

Jessica screamed as she saw her daughters assaulted by the Family Head’s claws and then the full barrage of elemental catastrophe.

Everything converged into a single point. He compressed it with the full force of his power, intending to obliterate them.

"PERISH!"

TRUUUM!

The sphere of elemental fury and agonized souls shrank relentlessly, trying to crush both sisters inside.

"S-Stop...! STOP IT!"

Jessica screamed. For a moment she broke free of her restraint and kicked the old man’s face.

"Aagh! You dare?!"

As his concentration faltered...

SLAAASH!

BOOOM!

A powerful sword and fist slashed and shattered the compressed bubble of magic and souls, exploding it into fragments.

Fran and Laura emerged, both pointing their weapons at Drazelith.

"W-Wha...?!"

The old man tried to tear open space and flee!

But Maria smirked.

She enveloped the surroundings in her Domain!

Above all, Laura exuded her immense Martial Intent, wrapping Drazelith’s entire body and weakening him severely.

He couldn’t complete his Teleportation Spell in time. Maria’s blade cut through his barriers and split him apart.

SLAAASH!

"GAAAAHHH!"

As he screamed, he began to regenerate...

But Laura’s blazing fists struck his upper half, burning and disintegrating his body.

The new techniques—enhanced by Wu Lieng’s modifications—were especially lethal against vampires.

"W-What is happening?! How come this is happening to meeeee?!"

Drazelith fought back desperately, manifesting more of his body through his Words.

But Maria—carrying her mother in one arm—swung her sword once.

That single blade.

Divided into dozens of attacks as nine other "Marias" appeared, each swinging their blades at the vampire.

"A-AAAHHH!"

With an agonizing scream, he was torn apart dozens of times. His soul, body, mind—everything—was divided over and over.

Darkness, nightmares, and void began to consume him.

He tried to escape with his upper half, exploding it into dozens of bats.

But Laura’s eyes gleamed.

"You think I’ll verify which one is the real you one by one?"

She swung her hand down.

A titanic dragon claw manifested and tore every bat to pieces.

Among them was Drazelith’s soul, shattering into fragments.

BOOOMMM!!!

A massive explosion erupted from his soul’s destruction. The manor beneath them collapsed. The entire Realm trembled.

Maria sighed in relief. She used her Magic to break the Words that still enslaved her mother—even though the vampire was dead.

"F-Fran...?"

Her mother’s eyes quickly filled with tears. She began to cry.

"You... You’re awake..."

"Yeah mom... I’m back."

"FRAAAN!"

Her mother burst into sobs, hugging her daughter tightly and weeping on her shoulders.

"This must be a dream, right? I am dreaming and I will wake up... it’s all too good to be true...! hahaha... I will wake up... and continue suffering... but at least... let me enjoy this little moment..."

"It’s not a dream mom... She’s awake, and we killed that monster."
