Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1860: Family Reunion
-----
Maria admired Silvio and Francisco, who had undergone a special evolution. They had discarded their ghostly resentment and ascended into true spiritual beings.
After transforming, both now wore butler attire and looked absolutely striking—handsome and impeccably fabulous.
"Spirits?!" Maria asked. "So you're no longer ghosts!"
"Indeed. We've cast away our resentment—we no longer needed it!" Silvio declared.
"We've embraced our love for the village and its people, our new homes," Francisco added.
"And so, one night we experienced an incredible awakening," Silvio continued.
"We fought our own curses within our souls, and as we barely triumphed, we evolved!" Francisco said.
"I see. It must have been an evolution trial," Maria nodded. "But why Devils?"
"It seems we're just quite devilish, huhuh," Silvio laughed.
"It fit us, right?" Francisco chuckled.
"Heh, can't argue with that!" Maria laughed.
At their side, even more Undead arrived—all of Maria's beloved familiars.
"Rawr!"
"Kurooo!"
Kuro stepped forward, as fluffy and majestic as ever, and licked Maria's face. Through relentless training and hunting, he had evolved into a Divine Spirit Beast.
"Kishieee!"
Pyro, the giant blazing spider zombie, rushed in. She had become a living being once more—an Infernal Devil Spider—and burned Maria with enthusiastic hugs.
"Fuwaaahh!"
Meanwhile, a cute, rotund female slime approached—gigantic and bouncy. It was Mercury, Maria's former Undead Rainbow Metal Slime. She too had regained "life" in the same way, existing between life and death. She could even shapeshift into a feminine form.
"Master, it is nice to see you have returned… Many things have happened in our absence."
"Darkbound?! You can talk!"
Darkbound, the powerful skeleton knight born from countless resentful souls Maria had gathered in a graveyard years ago, had once been her strongest undead. He had fought tirelessly to maintain and surpass that strength, polishing his body, soul, and swordsmanship. Now he had attained a new evolution, granting him an even more ethereal and powerful form that radiated abyssal divinity from his blazing soul.
"Effectively, my lady."
"And you talk like such a gentleman!"
"Do I?"
"Yes!"
"Aaah… I am flattered," Darkbound sighed. "The more I thought about our fallen comrade, Lancelot, the more I devoted myself to refinement and gaining the ability to speak as he could."
"Lancelot…" Maria nodded. "Right… What about his egg?"
"It has been safeguarded inside the great castle," Darkbound assured her. "Be at ease—it is kept warm and well, my lady."
"I remember Partner gave her power to it to keep it alive," Maria said. "Partner, aren't you curious about the egg?"
"Ah right… It's kind of like my kid now," Partner nodded. "Even though I've got another one here developing…"
Their pregnancy had progressed smoothly, without complications… but by now their bellies had grown noticeably larger and more prominent.
Perhaps if I accelerate time in the Soul Realm and we spend some time there, we can help them give birth—so they can prepare for battle without worrying about the babies…
I kind of want to see what my kids look like!
"Master, you've finally returned! Awoooo!" A huge white werewolf bounded forward—Claw—celebrating wildly.
"Hmm, welcome back, master," Beowulf said beside him, still shy as ever.
"M-Master! How have you been? We've been managing things quite well here, keeping everything safe!" Kimiko said with a gentle smile.
"Ahhh, you guys! I'm so glad to see you're all doing alright," Maria said, nodding warmly. "Wait—where are Tear and Veredorr?!"
"Master! Welcome back!"
"You're finally back, master."
As she wondered, Maria was greeted by the pair: a giant, beautiful ice giantess and her beloved husband—an ice… spirit? He no longer looked ghostly.
It wasn't merely materialization like before. He had undergone a complete metamorphosis into a spiritual being, just like Silvio and Francisco.
"Tear! Veredorr! I'm so glad to see you're doing well!" Maria said, hugging them both tightly. "Brrr, you're both as cold as I remember, hehe."
"You've changed so much!" Tear exclaimed. "What happened?"
"You look smaller… and alive?" Veredorr asked. "Ah right, I suppose the same happened to me. Through Tear's help, we secured materials and a special formation…"
"And Veredorr evolved into a Frost Guardian Divine Spirit," Tear smiled proudly. "I shared a piece of my divine power as an ingredient. It worked wonderfully."
"Oh my! I'm so happy for you too!" Maria celebrated, hugging them even tighter. "I bet you can get down to business now, huh?"
"I-I… yes, I mean, I am currently pregnant, hehe," Tear giggled.
"W-Wait, what?" Maria gasped.
"We got to 'business' right after I became a living being with a true physical, ethereal body," Veredorr explained. "I'm honestly so happy it worked out…"
"Me too! Congratulations!" Maria was overjoyed for the couple and hugged them again. "I've got so many gifts for everyone—including you two! So come along to the castle!"
On the way, Maria met the pair of dwarves she had rescued from slavery at the beginning of her journey as a ghost. They remained among the finest blacksmiths, carpenters, and crafters in their kingdom.
"Well, well, look who's finally back!"
"Gahahaha! You got smaller or what, missy?"
They were Baldur and Balladur, the twins blessed by the God of Earth and the Goddess of Forge.
"You guys! Hey!" Maria smiled brightly. "I missed you two. How have you been? I hope you haven't pushed yourselves too hard."
"Ah, nothing big. We just improved the barrier, expanded the village, paved everything, fully repaired that old castle and remade the interior, and so on," Baldur said.
"Nothing too hard—easy stuff," Balladur nodded.
"Easy stuff?!" Maria asked, shocked. "Well, damn! Thanks! Hahaha! You guys are putting so much effort into this. You really love this place, huh?"
"Hmph! Of course we do—this is our home…"
"There's people that need our help, and whenever someone asks for a favor, we help."
"Not like we got anything else to do." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"We get bored quickly."
Maria giggled and hugged the two old dwarves tightly.
"I've got a wonderful gift for you two. Come with me."
Maria invited everyone inside the castle once she had reunited with almost all her companions.
The few remaining who hadn't appeared yet soon arrived—a group of children from the Golden Dunes she had rescued, all showing incredible potential.
They were Fabian, Spectra, Nick, Beery, and Garon.
"So you've returned, auntie!" Fabian said.
"Auntie Maria! I've learned a lot of spells from the books you left me!" Spectra said.
"Me too!" Nick nodded. "Poison Magic is a little hard to control, but it's nice to weaken my foes as much as I want… hehe."
"That sounds a little scary, Nick…" Beery said. "Umm, welcome back, auntie Maria! We missed you."
"Yeah!" Garon added. "But Takeshi and Laura kept us always distracted so we didn't get sad!"
"I see! I'm glad you've done so well, children!" Maria said with a warm nod, hugging them all. "I've got great gifts for all of you! Ah right—has Silva ever visited again with her wolf and Catarina?"
"They visited a month ago! They may come back again," Fabian said.
"They were doing well!" Spectra added.
