Reborn as a Hatrack in the Mystical Land-Chapter 769 - 19: Displaying Divine Skills (Part 2)
"If you’re gonna come, come at me. The turtle fears the hammer," Compass swelled with pride as his friends praised him.
He patted his chest and gestured for Yang An to have another go.
"Fatty, be careful," Shalman saw this and chuckled softly with a teasing scold.
Hearing that, Compass got even more fired up, he rolled up his sleeves, stood tall and proud, and assumed the classic stance of a bullfighter ready to face the raging bull.
Yang An grunted, his palm shimmered with green light, followed by a sudden shout, he pushed his palm out flatly.
This palm strike seemed light but carried much weight, instantly kicking up dust and rocks from the ground, dazzling and throbbing everyone’s eyes, leaving them unable to open.
Yang An’s palm technique was different from the norm. Named the Heart Splitting Palm, it followed not merely a forceful approach but rather one that was deceptively light, infusing a portion of wind power into it. With a push of his palm, it carried the momentum of moving mountains and overturning seas.
Compass, whose horse stance was already unstable, was pushed by the initial force of the Wind Clearing Palm. He flew out like a deflated balloon.
After Compass was sent flying, Yang An sprang forward like a great roc spreading its wings, pouncing like a hungry wolf, his double palms swept out, and suddenly Compass felt a strange force on his belly. That force penetrated his skin and burrowed all the way into his internal organs.
Where the strange force traveled, his innards’ bones even made a creaking noise, as if his whole body was about to get blown apart by the palm power.
"Boom," the crowd only saw a blur before Compass was sent flying, smashing into the wall at the entrance of the Martial Arts Hall, cracking the wall and leaving behind a human-shaped hole.
"Compass, Fatty," everyone was startled, and rushed over to dig Compass out from the pile of stones.
Compass struggled a bit, tears glistening in his mung bean eyes, "Captain, if I die in the line of duty this time, will you give my family a hefty severance pay?
"Severance pay? You wish. Get up or I’ll wrap you in a mat and bury you alive right now," Yue Jinghua scanned Compass with her Divine Sense. Apart from a broken rib in his chest, he was fine elsewhere. Without saying another word, she kicked him hard on his chubby butt. Sure enough, he yelped and jumped up, clutching his behind.
"He’s actually fine, just a broken bone?" Yang An had already ceased his palm and was regulating his breathing. He had used sixty to seventy percent of his Dark Power just now. He didn’t expect that fatty to be able to bear it.
The Divine Archer capable of shooting Dark Power Arrows, the surprisingly resilient fat mercenary; just two rounds of testing and this new Mercenary Team named the July Mercenary Team that had risen in the past year had shocked the veteran mercenary Yang An to his core.
"Uncle, you really didn’t hold back, breaking my bone," Compass rubbed his chest, grumbling as he clumsily walked past Yang An. Seeing that there was no response from him, he happily scampered away quickly.
"Only the two of us left, Shalman, how confident are you?" Yue Jinghua was most worried about Shalman.
"No problem," For some reason, Shalman seemed particularly confident this time. She approached Yang An, bowed respectfully, and crisply spoke, "Uncle Yang, it’s my turn now. My name is Shalman, I made my choice. I can’t take hits like Fatty, with his thick skin and flesh. I’ll choose the Tiger Lion Beast like Brother Feng Buhui. But since your first Stone Tiger Lion is ruined, please bring out the Golden Tiger Lion you mentioned."
Female mercenaries are rare in the Mercenary World, and those with outstanding looks are even rarer. Shalman, with her stunning beauty and sweet mouth, made Yang An feel very pleased when she called him Uncle Yang. However, the latter part of her sentence almost made Yang An’s jaw drop.
The Martial Arts Hall’s Feng Buhui, Qin Dongting, Luo Compass and others were also taken aback.
"Among Shalman’s Dark Beasts, is there one with such great strength?" Apart from Yue Jinghua, the other mercenaries had little interaction with Shalman. In their minds, Shalman seldom acted, and she seemed to specialize in Breeding alone.
There was no way she could move the Golden Tiger Lion weighing nine hundred and ninety-nine pounds by herself; the only possibility was with the help of her Cultivation Beasts.
But upon further thought, the largest of Shalman’s Cultivation Beasts was that Snake Pet called Thunder Snake, and the rest were all just poisonous insects, spiders, scorpions, and the like.
The group was quite puzzled, unsure of what Shalman was playing at with her mysterious plans.
"Miss, are you sure you want the Golden Tiger Lion? It weighs nine hundred and ninety-nine pounds and is made from golden stone; this choice is impervious to swords and arrows," Yang An had been squatting outside the Martial Arts Hall for most of the day, but upon encountering the peculiarities of the July Mercenary Team, he was at a loss.
"Uncle Yang, rest assured," Shalman smiled brightly.
Yang An did not want to disappoint the young lady and proceeded to command a few people to carry over a dazzling, golden Tiger Lion Beast.
The size of the Tiger Lion Beast seemed to be roughly the same as that of the Stone Tiger Lion, but being crafted from golden stone, its weight was a whole half more, requiring five or six broad and stout men to transport it over.
When the Golden Tiger Lion was brought over, Yang An embraced the beast, which was two or three heads taller than him, and with a loud shout, the veins on his arms surfaced as he lifted the Golden Tiger Lion and placed it at the entrance of the Martial Arts Hall.
As the Golden Tiger Lion landed, the ground that originally held the Stone Tiger Lion immediately sank a few inches, the weight of nine hundred and ninety-nine pounds was indeed no empty boast.
"Miss, the Golden Tiger Lion is here, and you can still back out now if you want. It’s not that I want to make it difficult for you, but not everyone can participate in this challenge match, and you won’t gain much from entering," Yang An said as he set down the Golden Tiger Lion without changing his expression, which showed that his Cultivation was indeed extraordinary.
The Stone, Bronze, Silver, Golden Tiger Lions were also his regular training equipment.
"Thank you for the reminder, Uncle Yang, but our July Mercenary Team’s principle is, ’without venturing into the tiger’s den, one cannot get the tiger’s cubs.’ In today’s challenge match, not a single one of us from the July Mercenary Team will be absent," Shalman said with a playful smile.
No sooner had her words fallen, than she took a breath and, like a kite rising against the wind, stepped onto the head of the Golden Tiger Lion.
Looking at her hands, she quickly formed finger seals, her movements so swift like butterflies flitting through flowers, dazzling the onlookers.
Hardly had Shalman finished her finger seals, when the ground beneath burst forth with five fireballs. Within the fireballs writhed five monstrous Red Training Spiders with red fur, bulging eyes, and bared fangs. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"My little darlings, go," Shalman smiled sweetly and gestured in the air with a wave of her fingers.
She didn’t have Feng Buhui’s overwhelming strength, nor did she have Luo Compass’s abnormal defensive power. What she had were her Cultivation Beasts, those which lived and ate with her, never leaving her side day and night.
Almost simultaneously, the five spiders spat out five fire dragons of flames, which blazed intensely. In just a moment, the radiant Golden Tiger Lion was completely engulfed by the fire.
