Reborn as a Hatrack in the Mystical Land-Chapter 871 - 121: Pursuit on the Hills
The journey to Zhuqiu was imperative; three days later, the Four Unlikes Team, Martial Arts Team, Dragon Team, and Sparrow Team arrived at Zhuqiu almost simultaneously, except for Zong Shaoqing’s Tiger Team, which was nowhere to be seen.
"I didn’t expect you to convince the Martial Arts Team to form an alliance; quite a maneuver indeed. Earlier, I underestimated you," said Hu Li with a hint of jealousy in her tone. She had also attempted to collaborate with Fa Xiaoyi but was repeatedly rebuffed.
Yue Jinghua was still dressed as a man, but her handsome appearance without a mask made Hu Li feel even more uncomfortable.
"There’s no need for words; I can overlook how your members tried to sabotage me several times early on. But if you plot against my brother in Zhuqiu, you know the consequences," said Yue Jinghua with a secret technique allowing only Hu Li to hear.
Everyone saw their smiling faces, unaware of the undercurrents between them. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Ying Wuwang gestured for Hu Li to remain silent, and Fa Xiaoyi maintained his cold demeanor, only showing a slight change upon seeing Yue Jinghua.
Yue Minzhi nodded apologetically towards his sister Yue Jinghua, who clearly was still upset over her brother’s momentary lapse of judgment.
The time had not arrived, and the mist prohibition inside Zhuqiu had yet to activate, leaving everyone waiting patiently.
"Why haven’t I seen people from other continents or Lian Boxia? Aren’t they vying for the Heavenly Witch Pill?" A few days earlier, the number of people moving in Sky Witch Village started to dwindle.
Due to the impending journey to Zhuqiu, everyone had grown cautious, with conflicts rarely occurring.
"Perhaps they want to reap the harvest later, waiting to seize the Heavenly Witch Pill after we emerge from Zhuqiu. As long as we don’t leave the Divine Ruins, there will still be a chance," whispered Luo and Feng Buhui secretly.
"Stay focused; the prohibition has activated. Everyone, consume a Detoxification Pill," said Yue Jinghua, unsure whether toxic miasma might involve inside Zhuqiu, prepared detoxifying pills for everyone.
The mist that perpetually enveloped Zhuqiu started dissipating bit by bit at this moment.
Revealing two gray-brown cliff faces, humid walls occasionally dripping water, between them lay a narrow, winding path.
The path could only accommodate one person at a time, stretching out of sight, winding and mysterious, leading who knows where.
"Luo, take the lead; I’ll follow behind you. Liao, your team should be scattered among us," Yue Jinghua exchanged a glance with Liao.
Already aware of Liao’s identity, Yue Jinghua called him by name directly.
Hearing Yue Jinghua call his name brought nostalgic memories of past missions, and he smiled, feeling joy in his brow.
This meeting made Liao realize that whether Yue Xiaoqi or Yue Jinghua held him without any romantic feelings.
In her eyes, Liao’s status was akin to Yue Minzhi’s, a brother.
Thinking of this, Liao felt melancholic but, being one to let go, decided to silently accompany her despite no romantic prospects.
If she desired to conquer Zhuqiu, he would accompany her, conquer it. If she wanted to achieve first place in the Xuyang Trial, he would help clear all obstacles.
The four teams entered Zhuqiu in succession.
Unexpectedly, upon entering Zhuqiu, Qing Pu exclaimed, "Someone has breached the central area of Zhuqiu, perhaps triggering potential traps and mechanisms inside, be cautious."
Qing Pu lacked crucial parts of memory, although familiar with Zhuqiu’s terrain, something seemed amiss upon entry today.
Yue Jinghua immediately alerted the group, as Compass walking ahead unwittingly brushed against the cliff, muttering: "This lousy road; it’s deliberately not accommodating for the overweight."
As he spoke, the cliff rumbled, the already narrow walls began squeezing inward.
"Not good, run forward," Compass led the way, dashed forward like a bouncing ball.
The others hurriedly followed, pushing forward.
Above the cliffs, a rain of rocks started, each as large as grinding stones, landing heavily, potentially fatal.
Only those skilled in movement technique managed through the deadly cliffs.
The captains checked numbers, realizing nearly a third were missing.
Whether crushed, by rocks or by other humans amid escape, remained unknown.
Glancing back at the cliff, it remained narrow; the scene of crushed or trampled-to-death bodies remained.
Just entering Zhuqiu, everyone had received a blood-stained lesson.
Many silently lamented their plight.
Zhuqiu, unlike Divine Ruins, the mist restriction only opens once a month, lacking transmission arrays for free exit; a perilous trap.
"Perhaps we should use a Flying Demon Beast; who knows when another mechanism might trigger," suggested a Martial Arts Team member. The ground path perilous, safer in air.
With Liao’s approval, the team member cautiously mounted a Green Bat flew into the air.
After a safe distance, the member screamed, and a cow-sized Green Bat fell. The team member and Green Bat pierced by an enormous Poison Arrow, chest pierced fatally.
In the desolate hill, no sign of ambushers or Demon Beasts.
The Poison Arrow seemingly materialized from nowhere.
"This damned place; I’m done with it," someone shouted, as emotionally charged members fled towards the cliff.
Following the cliff, they vanished into the cliff, triggering a chorus of screams shortly after.
The sounds were hair-raising, leaving the remaining members deeply concerned.
