The third watch, asking for likes in pink.

Lian Manman did not immediately respond to Lady Zhang’s question but glanced at Wu Lang instead.

Wu Lang turned his head away sulkily, looking at no one.

Lian Shouxin, Lady Zhang, and everyone in the room saw this and, thinking back to Lian Lanlan’s incident a few days ago, roughly guessed what the letter was about.

"What exactly did your grandfather mean in his heart?" Lian Shouxin asked.

"Brother, if father asks me, should I just say it?" Lian Manman looked at Wu Lang, held back a smile, and said, "Grandpa said in the letter that my aunt’s Yin Suo is good, suggesting we marry into her family, proposing her for you as a daughter-in-law."

Wu Lang snorted, clearly very displeased.

"See, she hasn’t given up yet. That day I made my feelings clear to her, and she went to find you. You didn’t agree with her, and she must have sent a message back to Old Master, so this is Old Master pressing on us." Lady Zhang grew somewhat angry, "We still don’t know what she wrote in that letter. What kind of matter is this? My son, they all know I’m unwilling, yet they still want to press down on me and decide for me."

"Husband, what do you say, is it right not to associate with her? Look at her, what is she arranging?" Lady Zhang asked Lian Shouxin.

"Elder sister should not be doing this, this isn’t how things are done." Lian Shouxin nodded in agreement.

"Manman, what exactly did your grandfather say in the letter, was it absolutely necessary for us to agree to this marriage?" Lian Shouxin asked Lian Manman again.

"Grandpa didn’t say that my brother must marry Yin Suo..." Old Master Lian was a very measured man, after the division of the family, he had never forced Lian Shouxin to do anything.

Lian Manman then picked up the letter and continued reading.

In the letter, Old Master Lian stated that they were now all in Taicang, and at home, only Lian Shouli, Lian Shouxin, and Lian Lanlan, these three groups of people remained. He mentioned that they were close brothers and should look out for each other, binding together as one.

Lian Lanlan had written to Old Master Lian a few days ago. In her letter, she mentioned how she helped at Shouxin Family’s hearth and greatly praised Wu Lang, saying she was quite fond of this nephew. Coincidentally, Wu Lang and Yin Suo had met and hit it off well, which gave Lian Lanlan the sudden idea after seeing how well Wu Lang and Yin Suo got along.

Old Master Lian felt that Wu Lang and Yin Suo were well-matched in terms of age and appearance, and since Lian Lanlan and Lian Shouxin were direct siblings, marrying within the family would make the bond between the two families even closer in the future.

This marriage proposal was highly approved by Old Master Lian and Lady Zhou. Old Master Lian wrote in the letter that having a daughter-in-law like Yin Suo, who was well-known to them, was something Wu Lang should settle early on, describing it as an excellent matter.

"I was with dad in the front yard all along, when did I ever talk to Yin Suo?" Wu Lang indignantly said, "And to say I got along well with her, isn’t that just making things up!"

"Brother, don’t be angry, it’s not worth getting upset over this," Lian Manman tried to calm Wu Lang, "This was all just our aunt’s wishful thinking, and though grandpa and grandma might agree, it’s in vain if dad and mom are still here. Besides, the final decision has to be yours, right?"

"Husband, what do you say?" Lady Zhang asked Lian Shouxin.

Lian Shouxin had a pained expression. What could he say? Wu Lang was unwilling and quite angry. The other children were siding with Wu Lang, and Lady Zhang, asking him in such a tone and manner, seemed quite formidable.

This situation, just one word from him if not to their liking, would definitely lead to a fallout with his wife and children.

"This definitely won’t do. We didn’t agree in front of elder aunt, and it’s the same thing with Old Master writing back. Let’s write a letter in response and reject this proposal," Lian Shouxin lifted his hand and said.

"Dad, aren’t you afraid that grandpa will be angry, or that grandma will be mad?" Lian Manman asked teasingly.

"That can’t be helped; this is your brother’s important matter," Lian Shouxin said and then heaved a sigh, "Grandpa is easier to speak with, making sure grandma doesn’t get upset is difficult. She doesn’t favor me. Can’t worry about that now, let’s just leave it."

Lian Manman heartlessly chuckled to herself, realizing that Lian Shouxin knew he wasn’t favored by Lady Zhou.

"Is there anything else in the letter?" Lian Shouxin asked Lian Manman.

"Let my brother read it." Lian Manman passed the letter back to Wu Lang.

Old Master Lian’s letter was very long, but concerning specific matters, apart from informing that Zhao Xiue had given birth to a girl, it was mostly about Wu Lang’s marriage, no other matters were mentioned.

"Write back to grandpa, rejecting this proposal. Also mention the other matters, like Jizu collecting land rent at home, and arrange for someone to send it back tomorrow," Lian Shouxin instructed.
