Unlike the others who simply went with the flow, as a high-ranking NetRunner, he understood the intricate technology and ingenuity behind this defense grid immediately after laying eyes on it.
He felt it as the psionic network overlapped with reality, he felt all his psionic network-related powers being amplified even as his ADE bubbled energetically in an excited state, eager to express his power.
And for the first time since becoming a C Rank Data Phantasm NetRunner, he felt his helplessness and inability to isolate a LAN.
’Impossible!’
Outside, he maintained a cold and calm demeanor but inside, he was losing it simply because something like Purgatory was not supposed to exist.
Even in this era, this was technology that seemed futuristic.
’How did he manage to create something like this?’
’It’s impossible for the psionic network to overlap with reality!’
Despite his thoughts though, here was tangible evidence before him. His disbelief couldn’t change reality.
Faced with this cold hard truth, he could almost hear the brat’s voice mocking him again in an ethereal tone, disregarding his pride and spitting on his sovereignty as a C Rank NetRunner.
He was supposed to be feared, he was supposed to be revered.
The entirety of Iron Reef was supposed to give in and surrender the moment he appeared on the battlefield!
That was supposed to be the outcome, yet here he was.
He saw as Ren Nora and all his Lieutenants willingly avoided him, letting him, a true C Rank Ascended unchecked in a battlefield of this scale.
They didn’t care about the impact of leaving him unchecked at all.
He felt like he could vividly hear Ren Nora’s challenge though the rebel leader didn’t say another word to him.
This Synth’s mechanical face twisted.
General Sylvari Charr felt insulted. ’The nerve of you!’
’How dare you look down on me?’ For the first time in forever, enemies dared to look down on his power and the feeling it elicited in him was something he had never experienced before.
He felt rage, he felt looked-down on, he felt inadequate and these unfamiliar feelings made him even angrier.
His cybernetic gray eyes twitched with fury.
’Do you think I can’t annihilate your entire army before you can make a dent in my own army? Are you that confident in this defense grid of yours?’
His eyes turned cold, and then he accepted Ren Nora’s challenge.
’Fine, let’s see whose army is annihilated first!’
He made his decision and it was influenced by the fact that he already accepted that within Purgatory, even as a C Rank NetRunner, there was no way for him to catch Ren Nora which provoked him to accept the rebel leader’s challenge.
And then, this C Rank NetRunner let loose.
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Thick tendrils of neon green ADE converged around the Federation General, coiling around his body like serpents before forming a thick pillar of raw power!
And then...
Data Manifestation!
He triggered the core ability of a Data Phantasm NetRunner.
Just like at D Rank, NetRunners have Specialization-only abilities and still have common abilities between all 3 Specializations like Neural Hack, Feedback Burst, and Psy-Link Relay, the same rule applies at C Rank.
At C Rank though, NetRunners have only one common ability between all 3 Specializations and it is the core of the Class title at C Rank- Data Phantasm.
The simple meaning for Phantasm means ’a product of fantasy’.
At C Rank, NetRunners experience a Class Awakening where their neural psionic ghost form fuses with digital reality to create a Digital Construct Field.
A C Rank NetRunner’s Digital Construct Field is like a graphical user interface, and it’s what enables them to utilize the core ability of the Class at C Rank, Data Manifestation.
When activated, Data Manifestation enables a C Rank NetRunner to materialize data constructs like weapons, avatars, or illusions into real space.
The only constraint restricting a C Rank NetRunner’s power scaling with Data Manifestation is the simple factor that they didn’t have the ridiculous ADE reserves of Gene Augurs, they were restricted by their ADE reserves.
But still, C Rank was C Rank.
Amid a tsunami of neon green ADE, General Sylvari Charr created 2 neon green cloned avatars of himself, and both clones simultaneously used Data Manifestation!
BZZZ!
They didn’t create more cloned avatars, instead, dozens of oversized war weapons like Laser Turrets, Disruptors, and Plasma Cannons materialized in mid-air around the trio!
The 3 General Sylvaris levitating in the sky aimed the dozens of oversized war weapons at the city below and the enemy transports and warships floating around him, then he pulled the trigger.
KABOOM!
Iron Reef trembled.
The ground quaked and the air shook as dozens of rebel military transports and warships were shot down from the sky!
General Sylvari Charr accepted Ren Nora’s rampage and went on a killing spree across the battlefield.
But this General was not just a C Rank Data Phantasm NetRunner though.
His Specialization at D Rank followed him to C Rank. At C Rank, his Mindbreaker Specialization evolved to the next stage.
At C Rank, a Mindbreaker NetRunner becomes a Neural Tyrant.
Just like the common Class ability that they unlock at C Rank, they also unlock only 1 Specialization ability at C Rank, and it was still called Neural Tyrant.
Neural Tyrant enables a C Rank NetRunner to command lesser minds or AIs!
Ren Nora knew about this devious ability, and this was one of the main reasons why he and his Lieutenants avoided the rampaging NetRunner like a plague and instead challenged him to a contest of destruction.
General Sylvari Charr let loose.

His neon green ADE spread across the sky like a virus, infiltrating dozens of minds and A.Is that were around him as instantly, he gained control.
Then he uttered a single word filled with sinister intent. "Destroy!"
Dozens of rebel soldiers in his vicinity turned on each other, assaulting and tearing each other apart as the chaos of the battle increased.
Friends turned on friends, allies turned on allies, it was chaos.
Everywhere he went, death and destruction followed!
This was the power of a C Rank NetRunner of the Mindbreaker Specialization, this was the power of a Neural Tyrant!
