Yaeger stared at the door, motionless, as if lost in deep thought, or perhaps, simply zoning out. “Could it be because of the City of Chaos?” she suddenly said aloud, glancing around her room.

Back when she unlocked Alicia’s story route, she had accompanied her into the underground labyrinth, the so-called City of Chaos. After much effort, she had finally lifted Alicia’s curse and claimed ownership of the City of Chaos.

“I brought the City of Chaos into the real world… could that have caused some major disruption in the game world, triggering this version update?” The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

“I brought out an entire city. To say that didn’t impact the game world, now that would be the real nonsense.” Yaeger pulled out her phone and began searching for information on the underground labyrinth.

Sure enough, she discovered that on other servers, it was as if the labyrinth had never existed, completely wiped from the records.

“Exploring the labyrinth was clearly part of Alicia’s storyline. Normally, even if other servers didn’t unlock that story route, the dungeon itself should still exist.”

“That’s because Master took away the Only Reality.” Suddenly, a cute, childlike voice echoed through the room.

“Wah!” Yaeger nearly jumped in fright. Looking up, she spotted the source of the voice hovering midair—none other than the artifact spirit of the City of Chaos: Little Blue.

“You little rascal, you nearly scared me to death.” Yaeger reached out and pinched her cheek, clearly annoyed.

“You can’t blame me! Normally, before I even enter, Master senses me right away.” Little Blue shrugged innocently.

“I was a little distracted,” Yaeger said as she let go of her cheek. “Anyway, what did you mean by Only Reality just now?”

“Didn’t I tell you before? That game world is half real and half illusion. Some things in it are real. Others are fake. I, and the City of Chaos, are part of what’s real. Since Master took us out of the game… the game lost its source. So the fake versions of me and the City naturally disappeared.” Little Blue explained it as if it were common sense.

“I see.” Yaeger nodded thoughtfully.

What Little Blue said was easy to understand. The other servers’ versions of the City of Chaos were merely projections. Now that the original had been taken away, the projections vanished too, it made perfect sense.

By that logic, once a main story route was activated, the corresponding versions on other servers would automatically vanish as well. Because it was the one and only reality.

“A world built on both illusion and truth, huh…”

For a fleeting moment, Yaeger felt like she was on the verge of understanding something. But just as quickly, it slipped through her fingers, the truth was still a long, long way off.

“Master, did something happen in the game?” Little Blue asked.

“There was just a version update. The system told all players to log out,” Yaeger replied.

“That’s it?” She had thought something major had happened, seeing her Master looking so down.

Yaeger looked at her, hesitating as if she wanted to say more. But in the end, she decided not to tell Little Blue anything about her past life, at least not yet.

“I suspect that removing the City of Chaos from the game world is what triggered the update.”

Hearing this, Little Blue paused in thought and then said, “That’s certainly possible, but I don’t know enough about that world to say for sure.”

“Anyway, let’s not dwell on that. While I was offline, did anything happen?” Yaeger smoothly changed the topic.

There was no further intel, so discussing it any longer served no purpose.

“Yes, there is!” Little Blue raised her hand happily. “Vera 1 and 3 cried their eyes out, made me all wet too!”

“…What got wet?” Yaeger asked, suspicious.

“My eyes, of course! What else could get wet? Geez, Master, you’re such a perv~ Ow!” Before she could finish, she received a flick to the forehead from Yaeger.

“We agreed to starve them for a full 24 hours. Don’t go soft and sneak them food, or you’ll be getting the whip.”

“Uuu, I won’t, I promise…” Little Blue clutched her head and blinked through teary eyes.

“Has Aqua Blue Star’s awakening sped up at all?” Yaeger withdrew her hand and asked calmly.

Little Blue shook her head. “Everything’s progressing as usual.”

“What about that monster in the South Pacific?”

“No signs of it.” Little Blue’s tone was neutral.

Hearing that, Yaeger breathed a little easier. The last thing she wanted was a crisis in the game and one in reality. A double hit like that? No one could survive it.

“How’s Baiding Island coming along?”

Since they couldn’t see the effects of the version update just yet, focusing on the dueling grounds made more sense.

“Still under construction,” Little Blue replied, then tapped the air. A large virtual screen materialized in front of them. The satellite feed activated, showing a live stream.

In the footage, the central plaza was nearly complete, while on the other side, a dock was being built, clearly to accommodate ships.

“I wonder how many spectators will show up on duel day.” Watching the busy construction, Yaeger spoke softly.

“Probably a hundred or two,” Little Blue replied.

“You’re sure?” Yaeger raised an eyebrow.

“Of course! With Vera gathering intel, how could I not know?” Little Blue crossed her arms smugly.

The Vera she referred to wasn’t the clones, but the real one. Poor Vera, collecting info day and night, only for this cheeky little critter to mooch it all like it was hers.

“Who’s coming, then?” Yaeger asked, patting her on the head.

Little Blue showed a pleased expression, then answered, “There are a few Grandmasters, but most of them are tycoons. And apparently there’s a betting pool too.”

“A betting pool? Interesting…” Yaeger couldn’t help recalling the old days, when she and Kastina ran gambling scams to fleece players. Ah, those were the good times.

“Seems like it’s hosted by a powerful conglomerate,” Little Blue added, not entirely sure.

“Can anyone place bets?”

“I’ll check right now!” She immediately dove into Vera’s intel, utterly unashamed. “Master, it’s a high-society betting event. Without the proper status, you can’t even join. And the minimum wager is ten million.”

“Ten million… RMB?” Yaeger asked curiously.

“Yup! I already converted the exchange rate,” Little Blue nodded.

“These guys are throwing around millions like it’s pocket change. Must be nice.”

Yaeger knew full well that to those financial giants, ten million was barely worth noticing. Just another form of entertainment.

“Exactly. Interested, Master?” Little Blue grinned.

“You just said I don’t qualify.”

“I can fabricate an identity for you! With my skills, no one would ever know.” Little Blue slapped her flat chest proudly. For her, this was child’s play.

“Of course I’m interested. Who wouldn’t want free money?” Yaeger smiled sweetly. “By the way, what are the betting odds for me versus Lucky?”

Little Blue tapped on the virtual screen and replied, “Lucky Hong is at 1.25 to 1. You’re at 5 to 1. A draw is 4.5 to 1.”

Yaeger’s long lashes fluttered as her eyes lit up with a hint of excitement. “Now that’s worth looking into!”
