Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 42: Ch : An Outing - Part 1
Before game 7, another meeting was called forth by the system. The reason for it was simple - to choose what to do next.
"It looks like another one of our inspectors died last round. This is starting to get bothersome now. Should we change the people in charge of the games once more?"
Someone asked, only for the gods to scoff.
"Well, what do the fighting maniacs have to say for themselves? You can’t blame us any longer-"
"Ha-! It’s still because both you and that weakling who replaced me were weak. If it were me, I wouldn’t have died."
"You cannot know that. You might be strong, but you are still bound by the rules of the game, right? Unlike you, humans seem to possess a brain and know how to use it as well. You would have likely ended up the same as well."
The small girl spoke as she looked at the half-dragon. Her words enraged the half-dragon and he immediately leapt at the girl.
No one tried to stop him, and just as the half-dragon reached the girl and wrapped his arms around her, the small form broke into various threads of silk and the half-dragon was engulfed.
"T-This is a trick...this is not a fair fight-"
The half-dragon complained as he was devoured by the string-filled puppet. And seconds later, he was nowhere to be seen.
"Anyway, what should we do now? Should we allow the system to choose the next person in charge of the games?"
The person sitting on the right of the string puppet asked with a smile and people quickly recovered from the instant death. After all, it was a daily occurrence for them.
"Sure, I am happy to leave all this to the system."
"The less I have to think, the better for me. That way, I can save energy for truly important things."
"Hmm, since we all agree, then, let’s leave our fates up to the system."
The blue screen shook before a huge wheel appeared on the table. The needle started to spin until and it only started to stop after a minute of spinning. Slowly, it spun before it stopped inches before it could cross the string puppet’s section.
"It looks like our next game master has been decided. String master, is there anything you would like to say beforehand?"
The smiling man asked and the female-looking puppet just hummed before she looked up.
"I am strong, so I won’t die. I will show you all some fun games."
The puppet master told everyone and the system slowly lost its power and blinked out. It was almost time to start the next game and the puppet master needed to prepare a lot.
"Tsk, why did the system have to choose someone like...’that’...thing? The next few games are not going to be fun to watch. That puppetmaster is so boring..."
Someone complained, causing the smiling man to smile even wider.
"You should not assume that. I am sure we will see something fun soon. After all, there must be a reason the system chose her as our next game master."
__________
[There will be a delay in the next game. We apologize for the inconvenience.]
"Andrew, look at the system message. I have never seen anything like this before. What do you think happened?"
Lilianna asked as she looked down at the system. Andrew looked at the message as well, and he could guess a few possibilities for this delay. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"The system must have chosen a new game master. The delay must be for giving them time to prepare for the next game."
Emperor spoke up as he pulled himself from under the sink. He was currently fixing a leak and he immediately went back to the leak once he gave his input.
"A new game master? So, will the system send someone new after us now? Ugh, just how many of these ’game masters’ are there?"
Clara asked as she helped the Emperor out by handing him stuff that he asked for.
"There are more game masters than we can count. It would be better if we focus on taking out the system instead of the game master. Don’t think about taking on the game masters by yourself just because they look weak."
Andrew quickly told Clara before she could get some funny thoughts in her head.
The reason he had been able to kill game masters until now was because he had gotten lucky and because he had chosen his battles carefully. But he was not sure how long this would last.
"Anyway, we got another day because of this...but it would be better if we knew what kind of game we will be heading to next. That way, we would be able to use this time to better prepare ourselves."
Lilianna sighed as she looked at her hands. She was practicing using her skills swiftly and she had gotten better.
Plus, her reward from the last round had helped her as well.
"Don’t worry, Lilly. I am sure we will crush any game that comes our way. For now, we should focus on ourselves. Do you want to go window shopping with me to have some fun?"
Clara asked and Lilianna agreed with her and left quickly.
The world had gotten too costly to buy most of the things and crime was at an all-time high. But that did not stop the two from going out to have fun.
Sigh
"I will go and follow those two. Knowing them, they would get into some trouble and end up getting robbed...or worse, killing someone. Will you be able to handle things here yourself?"
Andrew asked Emperor, who nodded and continued to work on the sink.
"I will be fine. Just hurry back as soon as you can or I won’t be able to guarantee you that any food will be left by the end of the day."
Emperor told Andrew right before Andrew left to go after Clara and Lilianna. And it was a good thing that he did so as well, because somehow, Clara and Lilianna got cornered as soon as they entered the city.
Some small-time criminals threatened the duo to give up their supplies and whatever they had on them, only for Clara to punch them hard.
Andrew quickly interfered before anyone could die.
