Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 68: Ch : An Offer by Thief - Part 2
Truthfully, Andrew had no intention of getting overly familiar with the human world. His only property was to take care of the system and make sure it got destroyed.
But he had a feeling that he should never let Lilianna and Seraphina go out alone in the human world. So he was forced to follow after them.
"And these are the stores that sell...well, used to sell almost everything. Unfortunately, it seems like they have been robbed of all kinds of foods already. What a pity. I wanted to have you taste our snacks."
Lilianna looked sorry as she took Seraphina through the streets of the almost empty city.
Streets hardly had anyone walking them as everyone was busy ensuring their own survival.
"I see. What a nice place. I have a feeling this would have been a beautiful place with a lot of people if not for the system."
Seraphina was soft-spoken and empathic...or she pretended to be. But it was all an act she was putting on to help Lilianna feel close to her and ease the tension in the air.
She had always been good at that kind of stuff, and it had made her a good diplomatic leader.
Andrew followed the female pair at a slower pace and allowed them their space. He kept an eye out for any danger, but no one had the guts to attack out in the open currently.
"Hmm, I think we have spent a lot of time outside. Should we head back now?"
Lilianna asked once they had covered the whole town. She was the only one who looked tired after an outing, and Andrew just shook his head.
Even after so much workout, Lilianna’s stamina had not improved. Was it a medical issue? Or was it because she was so short? Because if it was the latter...
’What unfortunate circumstances for Lilianna.’
Seraphina noticed Lilianna’s tiredness and quickly made a decision to head back as well.
"Hmm, it does seem like it’s time for us to head back."
She looked at the sky where the sun had started to set. Andrew turned after them, but his eyes caught something from the corner of his eye.
He swore he saw a familiar tag not too far away, and he tensed without meaning to. His alertness alerted Seraphina as well, and she immediately took a stance in front of Lilianna.
She blocked the attack right in time, and Monkey King jumped back. Andrew took a look at him and immediately noticed that Monkey King looked injured and his right arm was limping, most likely broken.
But he attacked Seraphina and Lilianna still and got bashed into the wall by Seraphina.
Her sword was aimed at Monkey King’s neck, ready to separate it from his body at a moment’s notice.
"Hey, wait-! I do not mean you any harm. I was just cough asked to test your skills. I promise I am not someone dangerous."
Monkey King promised, but Seraphina did not let him go. She kept him at her sword’s end and turned toward Andrew.
"What should I do?"
She asked, and now the decision was on Andrew.
"What are you doing here? Did Thief send you because he saw something?"
Andrew asked, but he did not ask Seraphina to pull back her sword. Monkey King looked at the sword and then back at Andrew with a defeated look.
"Look, this was not an attack. Thief told me to bring you all back, and I just...wanted to test my skills. He says he has an offer to make to you all."
Monkey King did not seem like he was lying, so Andrew signaled for Seraphina to pull her sword back.
Seraphina did not look happy, but she pulled her sword back.
Monkey King got up, but he was limping and way too injured to be out here.
"Are you alright? You look...hurt."
Lilianna asked as she looked at the limping man. Her sympathy made Monkey King flinch, and he sighed.
"I...ran out of potions, and I don’t have enough to buy more at the moment. Others are also running low on cash, so I don’t want to ask them. I am sure I will be fine in a month."
The man promised, and Andrew could feel guilt gnawing at Lilianna’s mind as she forced herself to ignore him and his injuries.
Sigh
"You can heal him for now, Lilianna. But make sure not to overdo it."
Andrew told her, and Lilianna immediately squatted down and started to heal Monkey King.
Monkey King’s expression relaxed as he felt his body starting to get better. The more Lilianna healed him, the better he looked.
"I am going to set your shoulder now. Make sure to not bite your tongue."
Lilianna warned before she twisted the arm in front of her back in place, and Monkey King’s brows were filled with sweat from the pain.
But he bore through it and allowed healing to be poured into his body.
It took half an hour for Lilianna to set him straight, but Monkey King was fully healed...well, as much as she could heal him.
"Woah-! Your abilities are so useful...We need more people like you. Hey, would you like to come and work for Thief-"
Andrew grabbed Monkey King by the hair before he could finish his offer.
"Stop trying to get my healer on your side. Just be grateful that she helped you out."
Monkey King just nodded, causing Lilianna to let out a chuckle.
"Don’t worry. I have no intention of leaving your side either."
Seraphina’s eyes narrowed as they looked at Lilianna, and her heart twisted in annoyance and jealousy. But she quickly squashed it down and reached out to touch Andrew’s shoulder.
"Alright, so what are we going to do now? Are you going to hear the offer that this ’Thief’ is making?"
Andrew paused and pulled his hand back.
"I might as well hear that man out. I don’t think Thief is someone who takes no very well, and I would rather not face any more annoyances from him."
