Reborn as an Extra-Chapter 609: S-rank Dungeon, A Forgotten Nation. Part-4.
"Due to high temperatures and higher mana density in these underground caves, they become very suitable living areas for creatures that don’t need sunlight to survive..."
"You may come across spider monsters that would be five meters tall in these big caves. Also, there are gigantic insect and scorpion-like monsters that have venom toxic enough to kill peak A-rankers in a matter of seconds!"
"Be careful not to get hit by them..."
Lia looked at the circular cave as she walked forward and noticed that the walls of the cave were plain, as if someone had polished them to be in this circular tunnel-like shape.
"Is this the work of those lava wyrms that I read about in the academy... I haven’t seen one in person though..."
At Lia’s question, James nodded his head.
"Yeah, they are long, worm-like creatures that seem to have a faint trace of fire and earth dragon bloodlines in them, which gives them solid scales and saliva hot enough to melt down metals and ores in a matter of mere seconds..."
"Their blood is hot enough to render usual artifacts and weapons useless against them, as it causes weapons attacking them to get corroded and melt..."
"But don’t worry, you have ’Ambient Silver.’ That’s the heirloom of our family; it’s strong enough to fight actual dragons, let alone these little critters... it won’t get damaged so use it as much as you want..."
Lia nodded her head and noticed that her cape was not only just helping her regulate the temperature around her, but it was also helping her gather whatever oxygen was present in the air for breathing.
Due to heavy smoke and lava in the area, there was severe scarcity of oxygen in the air, and it was filled with toxic gases that were boosted with the power of dense mana.
In other words, the air inside these caves was literal magical poison floating around everywhere!
James was fine because he was an S-ranker and was not as affected by this, as he had no need to breathe.
He could just use his mana as the source of energy.
Seeing that the cape was under heavy burden, Lia used her spirit magic.
A shining silver mask made of spirit magic was created and covered Lia’s face; it helped her deal with the poisonous gasses in the area and helped her filter out oxygen for her own usage.
’This place is really hostile for anyone below rank S... just the way to the dungeon is so difficult; just how difficult would this dungeon be, I wonder...’
While Lia was covering her face with spirit magic, the little golem resting on her shoulder cried out in shock.
"It’s so hot here! I feel like I am going to melt!"
As the little golem was made up of just ordinary metals and vulnerable spare parts, Lia had no choice but to extend her spirit magic to protect the little golem herself.
"Hoh... your spirit magic control has increased; you can lend it to others now... that’s nice..."
James nodded his head as he looked at the little golem covered in spirit magic with a smile.
"The monsters here are only A-rankers, and they might be too weak for you, but having this little guy will give you a decent handicap... let’s find a place for you to train and get used to this hostile environment..."
"Learning to deal with heavily armoured monsters is very important for you... after all, your combat style revolves a lot around attacking weak spot of the enemies..."
Hearing James’s words, Lia felt confused and asked in a doubtful voice,
"What do you mean my combat style revolves around attacking weak spots... aren’t you the same, though?"
"You are also using the same sword art as me, right? The Silver Lion Swordsmanship, right?"
Lia had learned the ’Silver Lion Swordsmanship’ from a young age, and it was taught to her by James himself, so she always assumed that he was also using the same sword art too.
Thus, she found it weird that he said that her sword style focused on attacking the weakness of the opponent when he himself should be following the same rules.
"Err... how do I say... I have always been more on a physically stronger side, you see... also, I am too lazy to learn every random monster’s weakness so..."
"I just modified the ’Silver Lion Swordsmanship’ into something that suited me better... My sword skills focus more on brute strength and power..."
James scratched the back of his neck in awkwardness as he explained,
"Just like that eel I swatted away earlier... I usually just bash opponents with my sword most of the time actually..."
Hearing those words, Lia almost blurted out, ’What are you, a martial artist!?’.
"Wha... but that kind of brainless, straightforward attacking... usually only martial artists do that kind of thing..." (No Link was disrespected in the making of this Chapter...)
"Shouldn’t a sword user be more focused on precision rather than brute forcing their way through everything..."
[Is told you... this guy is a weirdo; I highly doubt you can learn anything from him...]
[If you follow his training regime, you might end up becoming a big, sweaty, and muscular bodybuilder like him!]
Seeing the doubtful look on Lia’s face, James knew that Lia found his words difficult to believe, but he didn’t argue and led the way to a more open area.
"Telling it by mouth won’t help... let me demonstrate it you myself..."
After exiting a circular tunnel, they arrived at a massive underground plateau made of solid rock and ores compressed together under the pressure of dense mana.
A massive pool of mana was filling the entire area ahead of the plateau, and the moment the group stepped on the plateau, the lava pool started trembling fiercely!
A gigantic worm with four short legs, two small bat-like wings, and a circular mouth filled with thousands of sharp teeth jumped out of the lava pool and launched straight at Lia and the others! 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Here it is, our practice target! Let me show you what the true ’Lion Sword Art’ is supposed to look like!"
James bent his knees, placed his broadsword in a posture as if he were holding a cricket bat, and swung it toward the incoming worm with immense strength!
[Silver Lion Sword Art: Invincible Aura: King’s Judgement!]
*BOOOOM!!!*
The giant worm’s body seemed like it was hit by a bulldozer! And it got flattened mid-air as its internal organs burst apart and turned into paste from the sheer impact of that powerful physical attack!
That attack had no elemental involvement at all!
Just like how a batsman would hit an incoming ball with a cricket bat in cricket, James just bashed the incoming worm with his sword like he was swinging a bat at a ball!
The worm was blown far away, and James smiled immediately as if he was quite satisfied with that ’six’ he had struck with his impeccable batting.
"See, isn’t it amazing... Just by looking at my impeccable form, you can tell that I was the best cricketer among my peers when I was young!"
"I have played cricket a lot, you know! If I wasn’t an awakener, I would have pursued cricket as my career... hehe..."
