Reborn as an Ugly Wife in the Countryside-Chapter 1311 - 1313: The Accident Site (Part 1)
Seeing the anticipation on their faces, Xiaoxiao thought she should give them some reassurance. She did have some ideas, but hadn’t quite figured them out yet. "Well, I’ll let you know once I have a plan. For now, let’s go check out the accident site."
When Xiaoxiao arrived, she only saw the resting area and the place where everyone was quarrying stones. She didn’t see where the stones were being extracted from, so there must be other places for that.
Hearing that Xiaoxiao wanted to see the accident site, Zhong Dalong’s face looked a bit uneasy. He said hesitantly, "Sis, maybe you shouldn’t go."
The place still has a pool of blood, which looks rather creepy. He’s afraid she’ll be scared.
Xiaoxiao gave Zhong Dalong a sidelong glance. She wasn’t afraid; rather, she feared he couldn’t handle it. "Let’s go. If I don’t see it, how can I convince the villagers? If you’re too scared to go, just stay here. Cousin, you take me there."
Seeing that Xiaoxiao insisted on going, Zhong Lihui agreed and offered to lead the way.
Zhong Dalong watched the two leave, and Xiaoxiao’s tone clearly suggested that she thought he was scared. How could that be? His dignity as an older brother was at stake, so he quickly followed after them. "Who said I’m scared?"
Xiaoxiao followed Zhong Lihui. It turned out that the distance to the stone extraction site wasn’t far, just a short walk. The road was well-maintained, likely fixed up to facilitate the transportation of stones.
Very soon, they arrived at the stone extraction site.
It was a place that resembled a large plaza. Upon entering, it was huge, surrounded by cliffs.
The cliffs weren’t very high, probably about ten stories tall.
The stones were blasted down layer by layer from those cliffs. It looked very spectacular.
Looking up, the top of the cliff was bare with nothing growing on it. This mountain was indeed solely for stone production.
After entering, Zhong Lihui began to introduce the place to Xiaoxiao. "Originally, this open space wasn’t this big. Over the years, we’ve extracted a lot of stones, making it progressively larger."
"There are good and bad stones. Over there, they produce bluestone, which sells for a higher price. And over here, the stones with some streaks sell cheaper."
"When using stones, we blast them out first. The fallen stones can be handled here with some basic processing, like sorting out the sizes needed. Then, we manually transport them to the stone yard we saw before, where we further process them."
"These days, we aren’t selling a lot of stones, and not many people are buying regularly. So, we don’t blast every day. When there’s work, we let the villagers do it, earning fifteen coins a day and providing a meal since it’s labor-intensive work. You can’t work on an empty stomach."

Listening to Zhong Lihui, Xiaoxiao could imagine the work scene. But now, the mountain felt so desolate with not a single person around.
Zhong Lihui led Xiaoxiao to the accident site. He had checked it out after hearing about it yesterday. Pointing to the cliff above the accident site, he said, "Sometimes after a blast, the entire section of stone doesn’t all come down. That day, they started working before all the stones had fallen, which led to the accident."
Xiaoxiao looked up at the side of the cliff, then at the accident site, where there was clearly dried blood. It seemed she could envision the scene at that time. It was indeed very dangerous, and it’s understandable why everyone was so scared. After all, who doesn’t value their life?
