Chapter 514: Entertainment district

For the ordinary citizens of Metropolis, today was just like any other day. But for the companies aiming to participate in the auction, they were all currently embroiled in a huge rush to finish their preparations as fast as possible.

The Major Factions, as well as some of the Minor Factions, were able to get ahold of the information much faster than the others. Because of that, they were able to prepare for the auction despite the short notice. By morning, they were all ready for the night to come and the auction to start.

Michael was also able to prepare enough soda bottles because he was given the information so early. He wanted to thank Fudge, but he didn’t want the slime to get used to always snooping around where he shouldn’t be.

Anyways, he gathered up all the talented salespeople from the Nation of Reborn and transported them to Metropolis just for this specific mission. Without them, it would be hard for the unknown soda to catch on with the general public.

He went with them to the Entertainment District, where no carriages or horses were allowed. It was a wide pathway designed only for the enormous amount of people to go through.

As they entered the District, he could immediately hear the sounds of horns blasting rhythmic music to the beat. He looked to the source of the sound and saw it coming from a live band playing in a restaurant.

It would have been soothing to hear, if they were just one band playing. However, there was an entire street that was just full of restaurants who had their own live band playing music, making the overall sounds they made seem discordant; it was chaos.

On the left side were the retail shops, restaurants, taverns, bars, and other kinds of establishments.

It lived up to the name Entertainment District because all the people here looked like they were thoroughly entertained. There were some people already drunk, tripping on their own feet in the road, despite it being so early in the morning.

On the left side, however, was the complete opposite. These rows of establishments were reserved for theaters and shows that were meant for high-class clientele.

If the left side were filled with ordinary people having fun, eating, drinking, then the right side were filled with these snobby-looking well-dressed men and women who were on their way to nourish their minds and souls through watching people perform stories in person.

"Master, Beau’s restaurant is right over there."

Fudge’s voice echoed beneath his feet, pointing him in the right direction.

But even if Fudge hadn’t told him, it was easy to guess.

At the very end of the Entertainment District, there was this large, fancy, restaurant, three floors high, that glowed even in daylight. They were the only restaurant that had the capacity to hire mages to constantly have lights on their establishment.

This was the premier destination for anyone who wanted to have a fine dining experience. All those high-class people who just finished watching the theater of the opera would only choose to dine in this specific restaurant.

After all, this was one of the main branches of the Pyramidic Cuisine. Not only that, but it was personally resided by the famous Beau Rigaud, the proclaimed best of the Rising Six. Everyone wanted to eat what she was cooking. But of course, not just anyone can reserve a seat inside.

Michael and the other Rebornians positioned themselves at the very opposite side of Beau’s restaurant.

This place was actually abandoned. There was no tenant in this street because no one wanted to compete directly with one of the Minor Factions.

But of course, this gave Michael the perfect opportunity to set up his stall.

"Ready the bottles," he said to the Rebornians.

These salespeople wore a cylindrical metal container on their backs, with a tube that connected from the bottom of the tank to their hands.

After finishing their preparations, the six Rebornians set off into the streets and began to approach anyone they could see.

"Hello, good sir! Would you like to feel a new sensation? It’s a soda called RebirthDew!" said the Rebornian as he presented a random male citizen the glass bottle. freeweɓnovel-cøm

The man looked intrigued at the strange container as well as the eye-catching graphic pasted on the side. However, he was completely unfamiliar with the drink.

"Uhhh...I don’t know. Is that even drinkable? It’s dark brown."

The Rebornian didn’t get discouraged. He smiled and presented the man with a wooden cup. "Would you like to try it out sir? A free sample!"

He used the tube and poured a small bit of soda onto the wooden cup for the man to see.

"You know what, I’m kinda thirsty after all that walking. But I want something cold. That looks hot since it’s bubbling."

The Rebornian smiled and pushed the wooden cup to him. "Try it out sir. It’s cold!"

The man eventually accepted the free sample. He then took a small sip just to taste it.

And as soon as he felt that fizzy sensation in his mouth, the man was hooked.

"What is this? I’ve never felt like this before!"

The man finished the free sample and downed it in one go. "Ahhh...that’s good! I want more!"

The Rebornian then offered him a glass. "Here it is sir! Thank you for purchasing!

The man’s gasp actually caused a few more passersby to become curious with the drink. And of course, the Rebornians gave them a free sample to taste, and just like before, they too were hooked once they felt that fizzy sensation in their mouth.

It wasn’t long before they had twenty sales in just about twenty minutes!

It was like a domino effect. The first few minutes of them selling the soda were slow. However, as more and more got a taste of it, they were enamored with its taste and wanted to purchase it themselves.

Eventually, a crowd had gathered around the Rebornian salespeople, all wanting a free sample.

And just like that, Michael’s business was on par, if not better, than the restaurants that were in the Entertainment District.

But despite this, Michael didn’t celebrate just yet. By his estimations, they still wouldn’t be able to meet the criteria for getting the rank upgrade. He had been keeping tally, and Beau’s restaurant was still getting more customers than him by the minute.

This isn’t good. Although the growth of the soda customers is good. It just isn’t enough if he wanted to beat the best of the Rising Six.

He noticed that despite getting a lot of attention from the left side of the district, there was absolutely no one coming from the right side to at least sample his soda.

The classy, high-class clientele refused to sample something that they knew nothing about.

"Sir, would you like a sample?" asked the Rebornian.

"Sorry, no. I don’t want to ruin my appetite. I want my taste buds to be ready for Beau’s Terracotta Meat and Mud Juice."

Michael realized that they were the key to his victory.

Beau’s restaurant only accepted high-class clientele. Meanwhile, his soda only attracted the normal working-class people.

If he wanted to defeat Beau, he had to attract both customers!

Just then, Michael realized that the answer was staring right in his face all along.

"I forgot to tell them I changed my venue," Michael chuckled to himself.

They were the key to his victory!
