Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 128: Daughter of light
"What are you thinking?"
Amelia walked to the second slab and looked at the results of her experiment before jotting them on her notepad.
"What are your next plans? I heard what happened at the royal palace. Aren’t you going to do anything about it?"
Amelia paused when she heard his words before continuing her work.
"Hey, you can’t ignore me like this," Kyle said with a slightly annoyed face, and Amelia sighed before looking at the man.
"Don’t disturb me. Can’t you see I am doing something important?" Amelia furrowed her brows as she wrote the following data.
Kyle grinned.
The more she appeared annoyed, the more he liked teasing her.
"Come on. You can’t cast me aside after I’ve done your work. Don’t act like a cruel husband who casts aside his wife after using her," Kyle pouted.
Amelia’s brows raised.
She looked at the man in disbelief. He just didn’t call her that.
And what did he say? Using? When did she use him?
As if he knew what exactly she was thinking, he puckered his lips and stood before her, taking her writing pad and keeping it aside.
"Didn’t I bring you information about golden rare blood? Didn’t I bring you information about Hannah’s betrayal and your family issues?" Kyle asked.
"So what do you want in return?" Amelia asked.
She extended her hands towards the writing pad, but the man held her hand and pulled her close, closing the space between them.
"Don’t ask such a lewd question, princess. You and I both know exactly what I want," He said.
Amelia’s eyes looked into his.
"You know it’s not going to–"
"Try to stay away from the triplet alphas," Kyle cut off her mid-sentence. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Amelia raised her eyes at his words.
"Are you jealous?" She asked. As soon as the words left her mouth, her pupils dilated.
She wanted to ask him why he asked her to do that, but the words changed at the last moment.
"Am I jealous? Well, yes. I am jealous of every person who can be close to you without any problem and without being questioned," Kyle said before he sat on the slab, beside the chemicals, as Amelia wore a pair of laboratory gloves to bring out the petri dishes.
"Cyrus will win," Kyle said.
"I know," Amelia said without any hesitation.
Kyle smiled at the blind confidence Amelia had in her husband.
"Regarding the information you asked me to collect on the man and look into Dominic, I think they indeed have some kind of trump card up their sleeve. He will probably use it when the tournament is nearing its end. A way to weaken Cyrus," Kyle said.
Amelia nodded.
She knew that much.
That was the reason it was even more critical to bring the King trials closer and choose a duel instead of all the other games that would happen, an entertainment for the people, for sure.
She wanted to deal with this thing sooner with less drama.
"Can you look into it?" Amelia asked.
"Well, I am trying, but it’s hard. It’s almost as if his team is forbidden to mention it, or many people don’t know about it. So far, apart from Dominic, no one has even mentioned it," Kyle said.
Amelia hummed.
She tried to contact that man before coming to the University today, but just like the previous times, no one picked up.
This reminded her that Hannah was acting a bit peculiar today.
For the first time, she said something positive to her. She said she was hoping Cyrus would win and become the king, so she, as the keeper of the peace treaty, would be the queen.
Amelia didn’t know if the sentence was sarcastic or what. And why would she suddenly bring the peace treaty out of nowhere?
"I have to leave," Kyle said out of nowhere, and before Amelia could ask him what happened, he jumped out of the window.
She looked at the back of the leaving man for some time before shaking her head and turning to the experimental slab.
Busy with her work, Amelia picked up the test tube to pour some HCl into it, her mark suddenly burned, making her almost drop the test tube and hurt herself due to the shock.
Knowing all too well what it meant, Amelia turned, looking around herself with observant eyes.
She walked to the window and was about to peek down to see if there was anyone when she felt someone standing right behind her.
"Daughter of the light," The cold, unfamiliar voice called out to her, and Amelia closed her eyes for a brief second before turning and facing the hooded figure.
"Can you stop calling me that?" She asked.
She didn’t know who this hooded figure was.
But the way her mark reacted to the person and how the hood was kind of familiar from the night when she saw a group of them and got this mark on her hand, she knew that this person knew everything about her, probably more than she knew about herself.
"You sound annoyed," The man said.
Amelia scoffed.
Annoyed? That word was too underestimating of what she was feeling. It wasn’t even close.
"How do you feel when people keep coming to tell you that you have a bigger purpose in life, you get a weird mark on your hand that you don’t know anything about, and everything you knew turns out to be a lie?" She asked.
The man smiled at her from under the hood.
She couldn’t see his face, but for some reason, she knew he was smiling.
"Isn’t that how life is supposed to be, Princess?" The man asked.
Amelia stayed silent.
The man walked to her and held her hand.
She looked at the gloved hands that didn’t show an inch of skin and was about to look up to see if she could see the face of the person when the man stepped back.
"Life is supposed to be unpredictable. You don’t figure out life. You learn from experiences and enjoy them while moving ahead," The man said.
The words of wisdom. Amelia thought before shaking her head. That wasn’t what she needed to hear.
She knew it all. But she was looking for comfort, for someone to tell her exactly what was going on, rather than adding more mystery to her life.
"That’s good to say and hear. I don’t want a mysterious life. I just wished for a normal life. Was that too much to ask for?" Amelia asked.
The man shook his head.
"That’s absolutely what any sane person would wish for. But what’s normal, princess? Your rebirth wasn’t normal either. Besides, some things are not in our hands. The moon goddess chooses her warriors herself. No one has any say in it," the man said.
Amelia didn’t know what to say to that. She didn’t have any retort.
He was right. If she were a normal person, she wouldn’t be standing here. She was long dead. But in this lifetime, not only could she make up for her mistakes, but she could also experience emotions like love and respect, and form relationships such as friendship, marriage, and so on.
Thinking about all this, was it really good to complain?
"I am sure you are not here to comfort me over such things. What’s the reason for your visit? And will I ever get to know who you guys are?" she asked with a sigh.
She wasn’t expecting an answer to her last question. It just came to her mind.
"I came here to let you know that what had been broken is healing again. The rock is healing. It’s all thanks to you. And because of that, your strength would be increasing, your mage powers would be returning too. And regarding who I am, consider me your family," the man said.
He walked to her, his step a little hesitant, before he placed his hand on Amelia’s head, who was looking down in confusion.
As soon as he kept his hand there, it was almost as if her heart was struck by lightning.
Tears brimmed in her eyes, and she felt her heart beating irregularly.
And it wasn’t because she was feeling something weird or because of her mark or whatever powers they were talking about, but because of the overwhelming emotions that clouded her heart.
"It’s going to be alright," he said before vanishing into thin air.
As soon as Amelia felt the loss of the hand, something felt like being snatched from her, like the man had touched the most sore part of her heart and then took away the healing decoction, and she broke into hysterics of cries.
