Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 205: The truth, the debt.
"W-water,"
"P-please," Amelia whispered as she slipped into consciousness momentarily, her throat feeling like someone had sucked air out of her lungs.
Pain gripped her chest and heart, her hands and legs aching like someone had hammered them until her bones were turned to powder and her muscles were messed up.
The blood drawn from her body to that level made her entire body too weak. It was even hard for her to look up or move her head. Her sugar level and blood pressure were lowering dramatically, and her body was showing all the wrong signs, enough for a team of doctors to sweat and fear losing their jobs if she had been in a hospital.
Her eyes sank into their sockets, her lips chapped, and her nails turned white from their pinkish natural form.
Her fingers were trembling even as they were tied to the chair, as she struggled for every breath.
Her words caught Adele’s attention, and she looked at her with a nod.
"Now is the time," she said.
Giselle hummed in response before placing her hand on one of the corners of the star-like ritual art she had drawn on the ground, sitting in the middle of it.
One such star was drawn around Amelia’s chair, too, as she was made to sit in the middle of it.
The forbidden soil forbade any magic in its enclosed space, and thus, the idea was to open the cage door at the right time once the ritual was at its end.
As soon as Giselle took the small bottle of Amelia’s blood and dropped it on the white powder that she used to draw the stars, the entire ritual circle turned red.
The middle part of the star began to emanate a golden glow.
"In the presence of the holy blood, I, Giselle Rivers, the mother of Adele Rivers and a holder and captor of her soul, ask the divine dark matter energy to guide me through this soul transferring ritual," Giselle said.
Loud thundering echoed in the sky outside the forest, the lightning becoming even more dangerous as one of the strongest spells in the history of spells was being performed, a magic from the dark witches and the old forbidden Moon book that wasn’t allowed to be performed except under the jurisdiction of at least ten top-tier witches in case it backfired.
This ritual was as risky as losing your life and changing the lives of everyone within a kilometer.
Many dark witches, known for their dark magic practice and worship of Satan, apart from the main cult, didn’t even suggest trying this ritual because even though they practiced dark magic, they believed no one should be interfering with the ultimate cosmos that the Moon Goddess ruled.
The glow that had been glowing with a golden light turned magically blue, and Adele’s eyes shimmered. It was probably working.
Giselle looked at the prison and noticed no reaction in Amelia’s circle.
They needed to open the prison door.
Giselle took a deep breath and performed another dark magic right on the spot, creating one more Giselle for some time until her work was done.
Adele looked at her mom in complete astonishment. She didn’t know her mother was even capable of that. Then again, she was unfamiliar with many aspects of dark magic, as she couldn’t perform some heavy energy-consuming rituals, being merely a soul capable of possessing and harming others.
The second Giselle, her replica, followed Giselle’s guidance to the cage and unlocked the prison. The blue magical glow of the ritual, which had halted at the prison’s entrance, began to travel inside, engulfing Amelia like a fire that burned her in its purest form.
However, the glow of that ritual wasn’t the only thing that entered the prison.
With the magic being used on her, the moon wolf, whose connection was cut from Amelia, started stirring, and Amelia opened her eyes.
Her almost brown eyes started gaining their light back, and Adele’s pupils dilated.
"Mom, hurry up. We can’t keep it open for long," Adele said.
Giselle knew they didn’t have much time, and thus, she started chanting the spells.
"Ich bitte den Himmel, Adelheids Seele in den Körper von Amelia Everleigh zu übertragen."
"Lassen Sie sich von der dunklen Energie und Magie leiten."
"Ich, die Ritualleiterin Giselle, befehle dem Himmel, dieses Ritual zu vollenden und—"
Giselle couldn’t complete her last spell as Cyrus and his team infiltrated the area.
They threw Killian’s beaten body into the circle, breaking the cycle, and the aftermath was so brutal that Killian’s body immediately started burning with its flames, almost reaching the roof.
Giselle used her magic to push Hannah’s body and herself away from the ritual circle just in time to save herself from hell’s fire.
The fire was heading towards Amelia to burn her, but Kyle and Cyrus rushed forward to help her escape the circle, only to notice something surprising.
Hell’s fire stopped at the entrance of the prison. And no, it wasn’t the forbidden magic soil that stopped it.
It was Amelia. The hell’s fire didn’t dare to touch the vessel of the moon wolf, not when she was gaining consciousness.
Giselle quickly used her magic and created hundreds of magical rogues out of nowhere to fight Cyrus and Kyle’s team.
"The Moon Wolf is returning to its reign, but this time Amelia’s body is physically too weak and unstable because of the lack of her powerful blood. We need to break the roof over Amelia to let the moonlight reach her, or she will die because of Moon Wolf’s powerful presence," Scarlett screeched.
Cyrus looked at the rooftop.
He transformed into his wolf form and attempted to break through the rooftop, but it didn’t budge.
They saw Amelia’s body trembling, and Cyrus growled.
"No magic would work on it," Amelia groaned before she pushed against her chair, making it fall to the side as she couldn’t bear the pain anymore.
Seeing her in so much pain, Cyrus growled and turned to his human form.
Kyle and Cyrus started punching the strong roof that had been strengthened over the decades.
Their knuckles started to bleed profusely as they punched it with everything they had.
Amelia blinked her eyes through the pain, watching her mates bleeding to break through the rooftop for her, and could not help but feel her heart swelling.
Even if she had to die at this moment, which she definitely didn’t want to, she felt she wouldn’t have many regrets.
Kyle snarled helplessly, his canines elongating as his muscles tightened, his vampire side showing. Sylas realized he couldn’t support his human directly, so he shared his strength with Cyrus, and the man’s fists almost turned hard as rock.
The men started punching the rooftop harder, and a crack finally appeared.
"We can do this," they whispered together before punching it with all their might, and the rooftop finally cracked.
The two men jumped over Amelia to protect her from the hard matter and the soil blocks.
The soil blocks fell on their backs, scratching them and making them bleed.
When Scarlett and Arnold saw the scene before them, they couldn’t help but wonder if that was the reason Amelia said they would protect her.
They were bleeding so profusely, but even after that, they were only thinking about Amelia.
They would have to rethink their decision to take Amelia back to their kingdom since her work of awakening the magic powers was over.
As soon as the moonlight fell on Amelia, the moon wolf started to rise in power, and Scarlett immediately used her magic to push that blood in the bottles back into Amelia’s system.
The sudden rush of golden blood in her system made Amelia cough loudly, her body rising in the air as the moon wolf engulfed the energy of the moon.
Cyrus and Kyle didn’t sit there to watch her. They started fighting against the rogues that Giselle created to keep their mate protected until she was healed as they neared her.
Adele, seeing her plan about to work, rushed to Amelia, unable to resist stabbing her with the dagger she had taken from Dominic’s fight with Amelia.
Yes. It was true. The real dagger was with her because she wanted to be cautious. The one with Scarlett was a second replica, made just like it but with little power, which was the reason why it didn’t accept any magic when Scarlett tried anything on it.
Seeing Adele rushing to Amelia, Scarlett tried to come between Amelia and her when Amelia pushed Scarlett away.
Everyone gasped as Adele raised her hand to stab Amelia.
However, at the last second, Amelia grabbed the dagger from her hand.
They thought she would kill Hannah. It was the perfect opportunity. But to everyone’s surprise, Amelia hugged Hannah tightly.
It wasn’t because she felt any particular emotion towards her fake sister, but rather because the moon wolf wanted her to do it.
As soon as the moon wolf came in contact with Adele’s soul, she took it to another realm with herself.
Everything was white and bright, something Adele wasn’t used to anymore after being in the dark for so long. She looked around herself helplessly with contained anger.
"Where have you brought me? Do you think these tactics will scare me?" Adele shouted.
"Are you even here? Is this your method of saving Amelia? Well, bad news. I am going to kill her either way. What if I failed today? I will return," Adele said.
Hearing no replies from anyone, she was about to scream in agony again when she heard a soft voice.
"The Moon wolf didn’t play any tricks on you, my little one. She brought you here because I wanted to meet you."
Adele turned around, her pupils dilating when she saw a lady in white. She couldn’t see her face clearly. It was too bright and glowing for her to make out her features.
"Who are you?" She asked.
The lady smiled softly.
"Someone you always had a lot of complaints from," the lady said.
"The moon goddess?" Adele asked in surprise.
The lady neither confirmed nor denied her words.
"Why have you brought me here?" Adele asked.
"I brought you here to tell you to stop. You have been hurt for too long. I want to take your pain away. It’s time you leave the mortal world and come back to me," the lady said.
Adele chuckled at the lady’s words, tears brimming in her eyes.
"You are indeed the moon goddess. The way you want to take their side, you are surely one. Why do you want me here? To protect Amelia?" Adele asked.
The lady shook her head.
She told her that she wanted to call her there because she wanted Adele to stop hurting. Her words only made Adele angrier.
"That’s pure bullshit. And pardon me for using the wrong language before you, but that’s the truth. You don’t care about me. You care about them. Where were you when I was the one getting hurt? Why didn’t you step up when they killed me? You are suddenly feeling pity. Where was that pity when I died? I was freaking PREGNANT!" Adele shouted angrily, hot tears rolling down her cheeks.
Despite her outburst, the lady’s expression didn’t change.
Adele shook her head.
"You know what? You don’t even deserve my tears. A biased goddess like you doesn’t deserve my attention. I did nothing wrong, yet I was still punished. I have every right to become evil now," Adele said.
The lady walked closer to Adele, making the girl step back, but she didn’t stop until she reached her.
"Who said you didn’t do anything wrong? Sometimes our fate is the consequence of our actions. You weren’t the reincarnation of Arianna. But you were called that and then killed. Have you ever wondered why?" The lady asked Adele.
When Adele didn’t say anything, the lady raised her hand and moved it around, making a screen-like thing appear before her.
Adele saw a vivid memory playing on it. In that memory, she was merely seventeen, and they had gone on an herb-collecting task given to them by their headmaster, Thomas.
She used to have a friend named Kaitlyn at that time.
She remembered this memory. How could she forget it? It was precisely that place where Kaitlyn had told her that a girl named Freya got pregnant.
Kaitlyn had left after that, and Adele, who was still collecting herbs, had slipped in a ditch.
At that time, Freya had come to help her. She was a sweet and kind girl.
But when Adele saw her, she could only think about how that girl was immoral and had gotten pregnant. She swatted Freya’s hand away as if she were the biggest scum on Earth.
"I don’t need your filthy, disgusting hands even to touch me. Get lost, you improper girl," Adele had said.
She had left after that, cursing her loudly one more time.
Adele looked at the lady, confused.
Why was she showing her this?
"Keep watching," the lady said.
Adele looked at the screen and noticed how the smile vanished from Freya’s face completely.
Freya turned around and walked to her home, disoriented. Her brother asked her what happened, and she told him how a girl named Adele called her disgusting and filthy.
What they didn’t know was that Freya had been taken advantage of in the woods a few weeks ago and got pregnant because of this. It was already hard for the girl to forget the horrific memory.
What Adele said hurt her so much that night, and she committed suicide that very night.
"Angered at her sister’s demise, it was her brother who spread those words about you. He wanted you to experience the consequences of negative words, just as his sister had. His sister was everything he had left. She was like his mother. They both were orphans. You cry for your baby. What about her baby? What about her past and trauma?" The lady asked.
Adele shook her head.
She understood what she did was wrong, but she was just a kid back then. How would she have known about that?
"You are the Goddess; shouldn’t you have helped the girl and killed the man who did wrong to her?" Adele asked.
Adele looked at her feet. She and the moon goddess knew that wasn’t the truth.
That night Adele couldn’t sleep at all, thinking about how that dirty girl who opened her legs for just anyone and everyone had touched her.
At that time, their morals were different, and something like this was beyond acceptable.
Not being able to accept it, Adele had gone to meet Freya and pushed her around, even slapping her and choking her, asking her to die and saying that a filth like her was just a burden on Earth.
She had provoked her to commit that suicide because she was so angry.
The lady smiled at her.
"There’s this thing called karmic debt, my little one. Do you know who that girl turned out to be? The same woman who you got killed by those kings when you possessed that girl’s body and instigated them against her. And guess who that girl is now." The lady said.
"Amelia?" Adele asked.
The lady smiled.
"You got killed because that was your karma. Maybe I would’ve given you a different life, a better life, but you and your mother got too greedy, too vengeful. What was my duty, to punish and to protect? You guys took it into your hands. In another reincarnation, I would’ve given you a better life, a better chance at love, but your mother stopped your soul from ascending, and look where we are now," the lady said.
Adele gazed at the memory still playing on the screen, seeing Freya scream in pain and agony in the forest, pleading with the moon goddess for understanding, and apologizing for her past actions, hoping for a better life in her next life.
Tears brimmed in Adele’s eyes when she saw Freya placing the blade on her wrist while standing on the stool with the rope knot around her neck.
She didn’t just slit her wrist; she hung herself to ensure she died.
"This is your karmic debt, Adele. You think this is your revenge? It’s hers. The only difference is that she isn’t killing anyone for it. She trusted me, something you didn’t. And this cycle will keep repeating until she finds peace. And it would only happen once you let go. You think you’ll ever win?" the lady asked her politely.
Adele shook her head.
The realization of what was happening finally dawned upon her, and she felt defeated for the first time in her life.
"Is this my end?" Adele asked.
The lady shook her head.
"Only she can end your suffering," she said.
Adele wiped her tears and nodded.
"Will you promise me something? Will I get another chance at happiness? For even once?" Adele asked.
The lady smiled at her.
"You are also my daughter, Adele. I always wanted peace for you," she said.
"Send me back then," Adele said.
Once Adele returned to the Earth, she looked straight into Amelia’s eyes, and remorse engulfed her body.
Along with Adele, Amelia witnessed everything that occurred in that realm due to the moon wolf.
"I am sorry. I... nothing I say is going to make it different, but... that’s all I can do now," Adele said.
Amelia nodded.
Adele smiled at her and grabbed Amelia’s hand that was holding the dagger before pushing it into her abdomen.
Everyone gasped at the sudden change.
Giselle’s eyes widened.
"My daughter!" She shouted.
"Mom, I am tired. Let me go, please." Adele smiled at Giselle one last time before she used her magic and pushed Amelia away, and went close to Giselle.
She grabbed the same dagger that was covered in her, a.k.a. Hannah’s, blood, and then pushed it into Giselle’s heart.
"I will be free only when you’re dead. After all, my soul was attached to you. It’s over, Mom. I found my peace," Adele said before closing her eyes.
As soon as the dagger went through Giselle’s heart, the army she had created vanished into thin air, and everyone looked at each other, surprised.
Cyrus and Kyle walked to Amelia, supporting her when her legs almost gave out.
"It’s over," Amelia whispered.
"It is," Scarlett confirmed.
