Chapter 765: Chapter 765: Everything Revolves Around Her (Part 2)
Everyone wanted to learn from Xu Niannian, after all, women, no matter the era, always cherish their own faces.
Seeing Xu Niannian hit it off with a few sisters-in-law in an instant, Qu Xiaoran helplessly shrugged her shoulders, reflecting the differences between people.
She had been in the base for such a long time, and although these sisters-in-law were good to her, they weren’t as casual and friendly.
Maybe it was because she really was formidable?
Qu Xiaoran couldn’t help but think so.
Back at the hospital, when she confronted Xu Niannian, it was because Qu Xiaoran was dissatisfied with her, particularly with Niannian’s calmness upon seeing Jin Yu injured.
She pursued Jin Yu openly; everyone at the base knew it.
Later, when she found out Jin Yu truly got married, it was her pride that she couldn’t swallow; she was unwilling to admit defeat verbally, always clamoring about snatching away Jin Yu.
But, ever since Qu Xiaoran saw Xu Niannian, she essentially gave up on Jin Yu.
Firstly, her status and responsibilities prevented her from engaging in such morally reprehensible actions, and secondly, she admitted that she wasn’t a match for Xu Niannian.
"Do you think this woman saved the Jade Emperor in her past life? How else could she be born so beautiful and charming?"
Men must like this kind of beauty, right? fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Ji Ruhua didn’t hear clearly, because all her attention was on Jin Yu.
Watching Jin Yu’s customary lip hooking gesture while playing chess with Du Jian, Ji Ruhua couldn’t help but smile.
Next, he was probably going to outplay Du Jian.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long before Du Jian threw in the chess piece, "I’m not playing with you anymore. You have no respect for the elderly or the young, only knowing how to slyly scheme against others."
"Blaming me when the skill is inferior?" Jin Yu chuckled with a click of his tongue against his teeth.
Familiar people in a familiar scene blurred Ji Ruhua’s vision slightly, nothing had changed; everything was still as it had been.
The first time she came to Sister-in-law Du’s house, Jin Yu was sitting by the windowsill playing chess with Du Jian, with the same conversation.
The only change was the addition of three people here.
Xu Niannian and her two children.
It was they who stole everything that once belonged to her.
What was supposed to happen was still proceeding along its original course.
The only surprise was Xu Niannian; she really did come to snatch away Jin Yu.
Suddenly, Ji Ruhua thought, if everything else had remained the same, would she ultimately have become Jin Yu’s fiancée?
"Ruhua?"
Bewildered by the lack of a response for too long, Qu Xiaoran looked questioningly at Ji Ruhua.
Pulled back from her thoughts by Qu Xiaoran’s voice, Ji Ruhua took her gaze off Jin Yu and asked with a smile, "What is it?"
"What were you just looking at?" Qu Xiaoran asked, puzzled.
"Nothing."
"Really?"
Qu Xiaoran didn’t believe it and looked in the direction where Ji Ruhua had turned her head, catching direct eye contact with Jin Yu.
Jin Yu frowned and immediately looked away.
Startled by her realization, Qu Xiaoran suddenly grasped Ji Ruhua’s arm, "Ruhua, you couldn’t possibly..."
"Let’s go help Sister-in-law Du; I think she’s overwhelmed," Ji Ruhua interrupted Qu Xiaoran with a smile and headed for the kitchen.
Qu Xiaoran’s mouth opened, her eyes full of confusion, but she decided not to confront her directly here.
"Sister-in-law, I’ve come to help you," Ji Ruhua arrived at the kitchen.
Sister-in-law Du wouldn’t let Ji Ruhua help; the purpose of today was for her to meet with the team’s eligible bachelors.
"How can we bother you with this? The kitchen is full of greasy smoke; go have fun outside," Sister-in-law Du said, pushing Ji Ruhua towards the exit.
"It’s no trouble; I often do this kind of work, I’m used to it. Besides, seeing how busy you all are, I can’t sit still," Ji Ruhua said.
The volume of their conversation wasn’t low, and everyone in the house, men and women alike, heard them.
