Chapter 677: Chapter 677 She Also Doesn’t Want to Lose This Friend.
Guo Miaomiao’s eyes went wide, "Sister Yaoyao, you’re so clever! This idea’s brilliant, why didn’t I think of it? The only problem is, there aren’t any suitable guys here."
Guo Miaomiao pondered with a worried expression. Si Chen and Gu Hongwei were definitely out of the question. In her eyes, both of them were her brothers-in-law. Even if it was pretend, she could not accept it - it just felt too awkward.
There was only one single man about her age...
Apparently thinking of something, Guo Miaomiao’s face turned crimson.
Seeing what Guo Miaomiao was thinking, Tong Yao stifled a chuckle, "I wonder if Jiang Jun is free these days. I think he’s quite suitable. I’ll call him later to see if he’s available. If he is, I’ll ask him to come over tomorrow."
Guo Miaomiao’s face turned an even brighter shade of red, "Sister Yaoyao, won’t that be a bother to him?"
"Not at all! You can make him some milk tea as compensation," Tong Yao said in a crisp voice.
Hearing these words, Guo Miaomiao nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, and her face beet red.
Seeing all this, Tong Yao understood something but chose not to expose it, "Well, I’ll take them upstairs first. Come for dinner later, Sister Zheng made Braised Pork today."
"Okay."
Guo Miaomiao nodded happily.
Tong Yao left the shop, leading the two children. As soon as they reached the stairs, Si Yang asked, "Mummy, does Auntie Miaomiao like Uncle Jiang Jun?"
Tong Yao was surprised to find that Si Yang had noticed it as well. She chuckled, "Yangyang, how did you figure it out?"
Si Yang said, "Auntie Miaomiao’s face looked different when you said you’d call Uncle Jiang Jun."
Tong Yue, still sipping his unfinished milk tea, said in his babyish voice, "I didn’t notice. Brother, remind me next time. I want to observe too."
Tong Yao laughed out loud, "You little rascal, stop stirring up trouble. Auntie Miaomiao will be shy."
Thinking of something, she asked Tong Yue, "You haven’t told anyone else that you can understand what little animals say, have you?"
Tong Yue shook his head, "Mummy, I haven’t told anybody. That’s our family secret."
Relieved, Tong Yao sighed. Being still a little boy, Tong Yue could tell people his secret and nobody would believe him, thinking it was just childish nonsense.
Nonetheless, just as a precaution, Tong Yao reminded Tong Yue not to tell others. Luckily, Tong Yue behaves well and isn’t one to blab.
Upon their return to the apartment, both kids had barely stepped inside when Tong Yaohui and Wen Yun excitedly came forward to greet them, taking their school bags, excitement written all over their faces.
After washing her hands in the restroom, Tong Yao came out to find Guo Jinnian had arrived. The two children were circling her, cheerily calling her godmother, which thrilled Guo Jinnian. She had nothing much to do recently, so she had been helping out at Gu Hongwei’s place.
She had been coming and going early in the morning and late at night for the whole week, so it had been several days since Tong Yao had last seen her.
Guo Jinnian looked at Tong Yao, her face losing all its mirth, and dropped like a deflated eggplant.
"Yaoyao, I have something on my mind. Let’s go chat in your room."
Upon seeing Guo Jinnian’s gloomy face, Tong Yao knew it must have something to do with Gu Hongwei. Ever since returning from abroad, Guo Jinnian had started growing out her short hair. Now that it had reached her shoulders, she looked pretty charming. Unfortunately, having spent years living like a tomboy in a foreign land, she couldn’t change her boisterous, care-free nature.
Tong Yao led Guo Jinnian to her room and smiled, "What’s up?"
Guo Jinnian wore a gloomy expression, "Gu Hongwei hired a new assistant. She’s his junior from university and has just graduated. She takes care of Gu Hongwei quite efficiently every day. I feel Gu Hongwei treats her unusually well too. Their relationship is on the brink of crossing the normal boundaries."
Five years... Gu Hongwei and Guo Jinnian’s relationship didn’t progress an inch. Everyone is concerned about them except Gu Hongwei and Guo Jinnian themselves.
To be honest, Tong Yao is afraid of what would happen if Gu Hongwei doesn’t like Guo Jinnian.
What would Guo Jinnian do if things didn’t work out with Gu Hongwei?
All these years, even though Guo Jinnian never said anything, everyone could tell that she liked Gu Hongwei.
Tong Yao pondered for a while and asked, "Hongwei’s interaction with her is solely job-related, right? Is there anything he has done that you feel has crossed the boundaries of a senior-junior relationship?"
Guo Jinnian shook her head, "Not really. But that girl treats Hongwei extraordinarily well. It’s definitely beyond the usual boss-employee relationship. Moreover, everytime she sees me, she wears a sour face. Yaoyao, as a woman, I’m sure she likes Hongwei."
Tong Yao didn’t question Guo Jinnian’s speculations and said, "Hongwei is in his twenties, successful, and single - of course, he’s targeted. Right now, he is Kyoto’s most sought after bachelor."
And of course, for Guo Jinnian to have such feelings of jealousy, indeed that girl must have crossed the line.
"So what should I do then?" Guo Jinnian looked even more downcast. "Yaoyao, what if Hongwei also starts liking her?"
Five years have passed. Although she hasn’t been deliberately waiting for Gu Hongwei, she hasn’t allowed anyone else into her heart either. Guo Jinnian still hopes that she can end up with Hongwei.
If there’s no hope of a future with Hongwei, would she end up alone for the rest of her life? ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Guo Jinnian believed that to avoid being single forever, she should give it her all.
Seeing Guo Jinnian look like that, Tong Yao couldn’t help but laugh, "Why don’t you just break the ice then! You’ve known each other for so many years now, I think Hongwei also has feelings for you. If he likes you too, then that’s great. And if he doesn’t, at least you can get over it sooner."
Guo Jinnian hesitated after hearing this, "What if he doesn’t like me? Wouldn’t we not even be friends then? It would be so awkward when we meet."
Tong Yao shrugged, "Matters of the heart are essentially a gamble. Don’t hurry, think about it tonight - whether you want to confess or not. Once you’ve decided, take the opportunity to ask him out for a meal."
Guo Jinnian pondered a little and then responded, "I’ll go home and think about it."
Even though Guo Jinnian would normally be quite bold, her hesitation in matters of the heart was evident. She was afraid that Hongwei would reject her, which would then make it impossible for her to face him afterwards.
There’s no need to delve into matters of the heart as she certainly didn’t want to lose this friend.
If Hongwei continued to be single, she could wait another ten or even eighteen years. What she was truly afraid of was Hongwei suddenly getting together with some girl.
Wasting her love and affections would be something not everyone could accept.
Tong Yao blinked, "You’ve been so focused on Hongwei lately, haven’t been taking notice of Miaomiao, right?"
Guo Jinnian looked startled, "What happened to Miaomiao?"
