Chapter 688: Chapter 688: Visiting Guo Jinnian

Jiang Jun spent the whole afternoon helping Guo Miaomiao sell milk tea at the shop downstairs. When Tong Yue called the two of them, she incidentally mentioned what had happened. They were terribly worried and rushed to ask about the situation as soon as they entered the room.

"Sister Yaoyao, does my sister have appendicitis? Is it severe?"

Guo Miaomiao grew up in the countryside and doesn’t know much about medical conditions. She doesn’t know whether appendicitis is a major illness, yet the idea of surgery terrifies her.

Tong Yao consoled her, "Don’t worry, it’s not a big issue. A minor operation, followed by a period of rest, should suffice. Hongwei is looking after her at the hospital. Let’s eat first, then we’ll go to the hospital together to visit her and bring her some daily necessities."

Sister Zheng joined in,"Yes, I have already packed some food for them. You can take it to them after you’re done eating."

Jiang Jun comforted Miaomiao by patting her arm, "Miaomiao, don’t worry. Appendicitis is indeed not a major illness; it can be treated by just removing it."

Tong Yao noticed Jiang Jun’s subtle actions, and though she acted as if she didn’t see it and remained silent, she couldn’t help speculating in her mind.

After hearing everyone’s consensus, Guo Miaomiao felt much more relieved. If it were a severe illness, considering the relationship between Tong Yao and her elder sister, they would definitely be in the hospital.

Since Tong Yao has come back, it probably isn’t something major.

Wen Yun beckoned everyone to sit down and eat. In their younger days, it was only the three of them. Now, as they age, they enjoy the bustling atmosphere of a large gathering. Wen Yun and Tong Yaohui both love such gatherings, as to them, a lively home signifies prosperity.

When everyone sat down, Jiang Jun deliberately sat next to Guo Miaomiao. Throughout the meal, Jiang Jun offered dishes to Guo Miaomiao several times, sparking people’s curiosity about their relationship.

Tong Yao’s gaze swept over the couple before she chuckled and asked, "Jiang Jun, have you forgotten to tell us some good news?"

This remark drew everyone’s attention to Jiang Jun and Guo Miaomiao. Even the kids were staring at them, making both of them blush.

As a man, Jiang Jun felt it was his responsibility to speak up at this moment. He chuckled awkwardly and said, "Sister Yaoyao, we were planning on telling you guys today. But then we found out about my sister’s appendicitis and thought it wasn’t the best time. So we decided to wait, until my sister gets discharged."

Wen Yun was puzzled and asked, "What happened?"

Tong Yaohui chuckled, "You’re usually quite clever, why are you so confused now?"

Upon hearing Tong Yaohui’s words, Jiang Jun felt even more embarrassed, scratching his head and saying, "Aunt Wen, this afternoon I confessed my affection to Miaomiao, and she accepted."

"Oh my, you two..." Wen Yun looked sideways at them and couldn’t help but laugh jovially, "Oh, look at me, I wasn’t paying attention. That’s great, you two look perfect together."

Guo Miaomiao blushingly said, "My sister is hospitalized. Will she be upset with us deciding to start a relationship at such a time?"

Tong Yao squinted, smiling, "If your sister finds out about your relationship, she would feel much better knowing that you are together. She’s always had a good impression of Jiang Jun and even considered matchmaking you two before. She didn’t bring it up only because she was concerned about your opinions on arranged marriages."

Upon hearing Tong Yao’s words, Jiang Jun and Guo Miaomiao couldn’t help but feel elated. With Jiang Jun having no remaining relatives and Guo Miaomiao having only her elder sister Guo Jinnian, as long as Guo Jinnian agreed, there wouldn’t be any obstacles preventing their relationship.

Seeing the adults so happy, Tong Yue blinked her large eyes and playfully asked, "Does this mean we’ll be eating wedding candies soon?"

Tong Yue has always adored candy; however, Tong Yao doesn’t let her eat too much, fearing it would harm her teeth. So, she treasures the prospect of Guo Miaomiao’s wedding, as it means she gets to eat candy.

Si Yang saw through her intentions, exposing them, "Even if Aunt Miaomiao is getting married, you can only eat three candies, Yue. Kids need to have self-control."

Tong Yue pouted, "Brother is mean."

Her comment amused everyone in the room. Si Chen’s eyes were full of mirth as he scooped some vegetables for the children and Handpicked a few for Tong Yao as well.

"You can’t just eat meat; you need to have some vegetables as well for balanced nutrition."

The children’s tastes were similar to Tong Yao’s. They all loved meat dishes and spicy food.

Everyone finished their meals swiftly. Guo Miaomiao went upstairs to fetch her sister’s daily necessities. Then, they all cycled to the hospital.

Guo Jinnian had already come out of the operating room. Though the effects of the anesthesia had just faded and she was complaining about the pain in her wound to Gu Hongwei, she quickly hushed down when she saw everyone, pretending that it wasn’t a big deal.

As she hadn’t been able to pass wind yet, she couldn’t eat the food they brought. Gu Hongwei wasn’t eager to eat right away either. For a time, everyone stood in the ward and chatted with Gu Jinnian.

Si Yang and Tong Yue also ran over to talk to her, which warmed her heart.

Again, when everyone was immersed in conversation, Jiang Jun seized the opportunity to announce his successful confession to Guo Miaomiao. He earnestly pledged, "Sister, I promise that I will always be devoted to Miaomiao, and I’ll never let her get wronged. I genuinely like her, and I hope you can accept us as a couple."

Guo Jinnian was overjoyed, although she replied, "You two already love each other, how could I, as your elder sister, object? As long as you two are happy, I have no objections."

Hearing this, Jiang Jun and Guo Miaomiao heaved a sigh of relief, their faces full of happiness.

Thinking about how Guo Jinnian had undergone major surgery, Wen Yun was full of sympathy, "Jinnian, just tell us what you want to eat, and we will bring it for you tomorrow."

Guo Jinnian answered, "Aunt Wen, I was actually looking forward to eating out today. Unfortunately, I had to have surgery. I guess you’re just going to have to eat some food on my behalf. As for tomorrow, don’t worry about me. I’ll get the nurse to help me get some food from the kitchen."

"We can’t let you do that. The canteen food isn’t nutritious enough. Let’s have the girls go. I’ll stay at the hospital to take care of you." Everyone else would have been attending Han Enzhen’s one-month-old party tomorrow. Wen Yun, being concerned about leaving Gu Jinnian alone at the hospital, preferred young people to attend the party as it would be more fitting.

Guo Miaomiao immediately objected, "Aunt Wen, I’ll look after my sister tomorrow. You guys should go and eat."

Guo Jinnian also chimed in,"Yes, let Miaomiao take care of me. Matter of fact, I can already get out of bed and won’t need any assistance."

Wen Yun replied, "You youngsters should go out and see more of the world. It’s a good time to have something to chat about. For me, it’s just going to be another meal. There’s no use. You all go!"

"I’ll stay instead! It doesn’t matter whether I, a grown man, attend a one-month-old party or not." Gu Hongwei suddenly interrupted.
