Walking hand in hand out of the office, Guo Jinnian and Gu Hongwei were greeted with cheers and blessings everywhere they went. Whether those blessings were genuine or not, she was genuinely happy.

Today’s surprise had indeed exceeded her expectations.

Back in the office, Han Enzhen was still lamenting over the mix-up she’d caused. "Oh dear, I’m really to blame here. I had no idea Hongwei could be so romantic. I really ruined a great moment."

Tong Yao comforted her with a smile, "Well, I think this mix-up added an unforgettable touch to today’s proposal. Jinnian will never forget today, and everyone else will remember it as a happy moment."

At Tong Yao’s words, Enzhen felt an instant relief. She remembered something and asked, "Yaoyao, didn’t you say you wanted to buy a house before? Have you decided on a location? Asen recently bought a large plot of land in the Southern City, and plans to develop it into a luxury villa complex."

Tong Yao’s eyes lit up, "When does the construction start?"

Enzhen replied, "It starts in October. The first phase will be completed in two years. Asen suggested that buying a house is one way to hedge against currency depreciation. If there’re no better investment opportunities, you might as well buy a house."

"I’ve always known Fu Sen was a man with vision, but he’s even more remarkable than I’ve imagined," praised Tong Yao. "Let us know when the houses are available for sale, we’ll definitely buy one. Any place Fu Sen sets his sights on must have a great potential for good returns."

"Asen would be over the moon if he heard you praising him like this," Enzhen laughed.

Hu Haiyun listened to their conversation, her eyes widening in surprise. She could afford to buy a villa in Kyoto with her current savings, but there seemed to be little point.

She had already bought three apartments in Kyoto, and three or four more in other cities. Buying a villa would only lead to higher living expenses, lowering her standard of living. She couldn’t have children, so there was no need to compromise her quality of life for a big house.

With this in mind, she decided to voice out another reason for her visit, "Yaoyao, there’s another reason why I’m here. While we’re all in high spirits, I thought I might bring it up. I hope you don’t mind."

Tong Yao turned to Hu Haiyun, "Sister Hu, we’ve been good friends for many years now. Whatever it is, you can tell me directly."

Without beating about the bush, Hu Haiyun got straight to the point, "Yaoyao, you know I’ve never had children. To be honest, I’ve always loved girls and have wanted to adopt Tong Yue as my goddaughter. But, I’ve been keeping it to myself because I was worried you wouldn’t agree. However, I’ve been brooding about this for quite some time. Even if you refuse, I’d feel better having let it out."
