Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Counselor

"Sister Yi Yi, come to my house. My parents aren’t home right now, I’ll give you the stuff there."

After finishing the meal, Wang Yuan dragged Gu Yixiao with a mischievous grin.

"Judging by your smile, it probably isn’t anything good, right?"

Gu Yi looked at Wang Yuan cautiously and said.

"It’s really something good, you’ll know once you see it."

Wang Yuan immediately put on a serious face.

Gu Yi paid the bill, and was then pulled home by Wang Yuan.

Wang Yuan took Gu Yi straight into her room and locked the door.

Then she pulled out a small box from the bottom of her wardrobe.

"You’ve hidden it well, huh?"

If someone didn’t know, they might think it’s against spies or something.

Wang Yuan ignored Gu Yi’s teasing.

She placed the box on her bed.

Gu Yi saw it was a very thin, small box. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Ta-da, is it pretty?"

Wang Yuan opened the box and took out a blue bikini.

"How did you think of bringing this for me?"

Bikinis are quite common nowadays, but back then there were probably not many who dared to wear them.

"When I was looking for swimwear to play in the water, I saw this and thought it suited you. My mom was with me so I didn’t dare buy it, but later I sneaked back to get it when they weren’t looking."

Wang Yuan grinned proudly.

"Well, I guess I should thank you."

Gu Yi rolled her eyes at Wang Yuan.

"I originally thought you might wear it to impress a boyfriend at the beach someday, but I didn’t expect you’d be married already."

Wang Yuan said with a face of regret.

"Why didn’t you buy one for yourself then? You could also stun your boyfriend someday."

"Do you think I don’t want to? But with my mom’s stance, she won’t agree to me dating in the coming years."

Wang Yuan’s mother always said she should wait before dating, focus on self-improvement first, so she wouldn’t be easily deceived by others.

"Sister Yi Yi, this dress goes over the bikini, they look great together."

Wang Yuan took out a matching blue outfit from the box.

Gu Yi measured the outfit against her body. With her fair skin, the blue looked lovely on her.

"Sister Yi Yi, do you like it?"

"Hmm, it’s not bad, thanks."

Gu Yi truly found it quite pretty, even though she wasn’t sure she’d have a chance to wear it, she really liked it.

"I knew you’d like it, how’s my taste?"

Wang Yuan looked expectantly for praise.

"More than just good, it’s pretty darn good."

Gu Yi wasn’t stingy with her compliments.

Wang Yuan showed off each of her recent purchases to Gu Yi.

After they’d admired everything, Gu Yi noticed it was getting late, so she made plans with Wang Yuan to meet up at the classroom in the evening and took the bikini home.

At six in the evening, Gu Yi and her classmates were supposed to gather in the classroom.

When Gu Yi and Wang Yuan arrived, there were already quite a few people in the class.

They found a seat toward the back and sat down.

Gu Yi looked around the classroom after taking her seat.

The first row was empty, the rest had clusters of people sitting together.

Gu Yi guessed it was probably dorm mates sitting together.

After they arrived, a few more classmates came and also took seats toward the back.

In no time, the counselor arrived.

To Gu Yi’s surprise, the counselor was Wang Yuan’s mom.

"Everybody, quiet please. I am your counselor, my name is Xie Qingyi. I will be teaching your sketching and color courses."

Gu Yi noticed that when Wang Yuan’s mom spoke from the podium, she seemed a little different from her usual self.

She didn’t expect Wang Yuan’s mom to have such a nice name.

"We will be spending the next two years together. If you have anything, feel free to come to me. Since we are not familiar yet, I’ve introduced myself, now it’s your turn to introduce yourselves one by one. Being memorable quickly is a skill too, so I invite everyone to think about it, and if you’re ready, just come on up."

Wang Yuan’s mom then assigned the task.

The class was noticeably silent.

"Has anyone thought of something? Don’t be shy, we’ll be together for two years. Anyone want to come up?"

Wang Yuan’s mom asked again.

Then Wang Yuan, sitting beside Gu Yi, raised her hand.

When Gu Yi looked at her, she cheekily winked back.

"Alright, this student please come up."

Xie Qingyi pretended not to know Wang Yuan.

Wang Yuan went up to the podium and wrote her name on the blackboard.

"Hello everyone, my name is Wang Yuan. My parents named me with the hope of a peaceful life and being successful in everything, but they didn’t expect my face to also be this round."

The classmates burst into laughter at that.

Xie Qingyi smiled indulgently.

"My hobbies are singing and painting, I’m from B City, live near the school, and you’re all welcome to come and visit when you have time."

Wang Yuan received a round of applause when she finished.

Wang Yuan set a good example, so everyone relaxed.

But by the end of the introductions, Gu Yi didn’t remember many names.

"Now that everyone has introduced themselves, we’ll gradually get to know each other. In future study and life, I hope everyone stays united, helps each other. Tomorrow, we start a half-month military training. We’ll train in the day and have study sessions in the classroom at night."

Hearing this, there were murmurs in the room.

"Quiet down everyone, I’ll explain the schedule. Training starts at 6 AM, breakfast from 7 to 7:40, morning training at 8, lunch at 11:30, afternoon training at 2:30 PM, dinner at 5:30, and self-study in the classroom from 6 PM. Did everyone understand?"

"Yes, we understand."

The students answered together.

"That’s all for today. Those in dorms, head back to your rooms; those living at home, go home, be safe. Rest well tonight, get ready for tomorrow’s training."

After Xie Qingyi gave all the instructions, she dismissed them to rest.

"Why didn’t you tell me your mom was our class counselor before?"

After class, as Gu Yi walked home with Wang Yuan, she asked.

"I wanted it to be a surprise, plus my mom said we are teacher and student at school, mother and daughter once outside."

Although it was her mom’s idea, Wang Yuan thought it was a good one.

Otherwise, if people knew she was the counselor’s daughter, they’d avoid her for fear of tattling, and wouldn’t genuinely want to be her friend.

"No wonder she pretended not to know you just now."

Gu Yi realized.

"So Sister Yi Yi, you have to keep this a secret for us."

"Okay, I got it."

Gu Yi nodded in agreement.
