Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Cui Hao Is Dead

Chu Jiangyue’s gaze shifted to Lin Dong and the other four.

"Are you looking for lodging? Or do you simply want to buy food?"

Jianglin Hotel currently only offers lodging and has one restaurant worth mentioning.

"We were told about this place by a young guy on an electric bicycle. Is this the Jianglin Hotel he mentioned? We want to rent an electric bicycle."

Lin Dong has concluded that the person in front of him is likely not a Mountain Ghosts and Spirits, but their methods are still extraordinary.

"A guy riding an electric bicycle alone? Could you be talking about Jin Churan?"

"I... don’t know his name."

Regardless, whether Jin Churan made the introduction is not important to Chu Jiangyue.

"This is indeed Jianglin Hotel, offering mainly lodging and dining services.

You’ve arrived late for electric bicycles, as all have been rented out."

Many have suggested she offer more electric bicycles.

Yet, Chu Jiangyue has made no promises, as she cannot control when more bicycles might be available as rewards for completing tasks.

She is uncertain when they’ll draw electric bicycles again.

"Regarding lodging..."

"You must first recharge and obtain an Identity Card to consume at our hotel. Rooms range from singles to suites for five, and with five of you, a five-person suite is recommended. A standard suite costs 5 silver coins per day, and a deluxe suite costs 10 silver coins. Which would you prefer?"

"Recharge first, please. We’ve heard from that guy that gold, silver, and jewels can be exchanged here?"

They followed Jin Churan’s advice and gathered plenty of gold, silver, and jewels, unaware of Zombie Crystal Cores, as they have yet to encounter them.

"Certainly, place what you’d like to exchange here."

Chu Jiangyue pointed to the Exchange Device.

Lin Dong glanced at the plain tray on the counter and, testing the waters, placed a golden bracelet upon it.

[Detected: Metal bracelet*1, exchangeable for 100 copper coins. Confirm by pressing ’Yes’, cancel by pressing ’No.’]

A single golden bracelet only exchanges for 100 copper coins; it’s rather profiteering.

Yet, with Chu Jiangyue smiling coyly, Lin Dong felt unease, lacking any urge to cause trouble.

Chu Jiangyue, immune to exchange amounts, knows identical bracelets vary in exchange value due to differing purity.

This thin bracelet’s 100 copper coin exchange is quite good.

"Confirm exchange by selecting ’Yes’. First recharge grants an Identity Card. You’ll need it for all hotel-related activities, including consumption, so keep it safe."

Lin Dong nodded and pressed ’Yes’.

Instantly, his bracelet vanished, replaced by a card-sized silver card.

Lin Dong recognized it as the Identity Card Boss Chu had mentioned.

Understanding the exchange, Lin Dong and his crew proceeded to load more items onto the Exchange Device.

After exchanging all collected items, their Identity Cards now boast significant balances.

"Boss Chu, please set up a standard five-person suite for us."

After exchanging everything, Lin Dong grasped the hotel’s currency values in consumption.

A 5 silver coin daily room fee is acceptable, but a 10 silver coin deluxe suite fee feels steep.

Chu Jiangyue was indifferent; even Shen Zhigui and his team currently lodged in a 100 copper coin per day single room, leaving little expectation for others.

She swiftly handled 10 days’ registration.

Yet Lin Dong didn’t immediately inspect the room: "Boss Chu, you mentioned the hotel operates a restaurant? Is it open now? We haven’t eaten for a day."

They traveled day and night, avoiding zombies, skipping meals.

Tension kept their hunger at bay until assured Jin Churan’s words were true, allowing hunger to emerge.

"Certainly, proceed rightwards until you see the building marked as Restaurant."

A plain restaurant indeed.

"Thank you, Boss Chu, for the directions. We’re heading there now."

After speaking, Lin Dong led his four companions out the No. 1 building towards the restaurant.

Increased pace to hasten their meal.

[Notice: Detected death of hotel guest Cui Hao, vacating his room and transferring personal property to the hotel, informing the host.]

Upon hearing, Chu Jiangyue was surprised.

Cui Hao, having awakened his Fire Ability, should face little threat early in the apocalypse if he avoids recklessness.

Still, recalling Jiang Zhenzhen, Chu Jiangyue suspects not an accident.

"Little Fox, can you capture footage of Cui Hao’s death?"

Cui Hao likely carried his Identity Card out, possibly enabling Little Fox to detect something.

"I’m able, but disclosing personal guest information demands sufficient reason; none can view but the host."

As the hotel’s owner, Chu Jiangyue has this privilege.

Little Fox’s response prompted a raised eyebrow from Chu Jiangyue:

"Show me, then."

Intuition insists Cui Hao’s death links unverifiably to Jiang Zhenzhen.

Little Fox flicked its tail, manifesting a screen before Chu Jiangyue.

The perspective was likely Cui Hao’s.

Initially ordinary, Cui Hao instructed Jiang Zhenzhen to remain in a zombie-cleared house while he went to fight zombies.

Generally, death-averse Jiang Zhenzhen would behave, but wanting her Identity Card back made her restless.

And today seemed the time Jiang Zhenzhen planned action.

Cui Hao’s zombie-slaying meant entrusting supplies to Jiang Zhenzhen; thus, Chu Jiangyue’s footage revealed Jiang Zhenzhen burdened with a backpack.

After Cui Hao turned, Chu Jiangyue lost sight of Jiang Zhenzhen.

Yet, once outside hunting zombies, Jiang Zhenzhen’s shadow furtively emerged from the house, possessing his backpack.

Distance obscured Jiang Zhenzhen’s actions until she threw something at Cui Hao.

The item shattered on landing.

It partially splattered onto Cui Hao—his perspective reveals a large volume of crimson blood.

Blood scent attracted nearby zombies, while those present went frenzy.

In a blink, the swarm obscured Cui Hao before he could react.

Jiang Zhenzhen’s escape from the zombie blockade remained unseen by Chu Jiangyue.
