Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 438: The Flower Shop Owner Hit Someone
Ruby Carter was caught off guard and received a slap, falling directly to the ground.
Her mouth was bitten, and because of her aplastic anemia, she had problems with blood clotting. Once a wound appeared, it would keep bleeding and take a long time to control.
Ruby spat out a mouthful of blood, feeling a bit dizzy.
Alva King was startled: "Why are you pretending? I just lightly slapped you, and you’re spitting blood, trying to blackmail me, aren’t you? I’m telling you, stay away from him in the future. If I see you near him again, I’ll spread the word everywhere and let the whole street know you’re a vixen seducing other people’s men."
Seeing the blood still oozing from Ruby’s mouth, Alva quickly fled in fright.
Just as Alva left, Nancy Allen and Julius Shaw arrived.
Nancy saw Ruby’s swollen face as soon as she arrived, and Ruby was covering her mouth with her hand, blood still flowing from the corner of her lips.
Nancy’s expression changed instantly. She shoved the cotton candy in Julius’s hands and quickly stepped forward to pull Ruby up.
Ruby thought it was Alva who had returned and instinctively shielded her face.
Nancy saw she had scared her and quickly said, "It’s me, Nancy. What happened? Who hurt you?"
Seeing Nancy, Ruby’s eyes instantly reddened. She shook her head and said, "I don’t know, I don’t know that person, just bit my mouth, and I can’t stop the bleeding. I’m fine."
Nancy took a small packet of medicine from a pouch on her and handed it to Ruby: "Apply it on the wound."
Ruby didn’t know what kind of medicine it was, but since Nancy told her to use it, she obediently did.
The continuously bleeding wound gradually stopped.
Ruby told Nancy everything that had happened in the past few days.
She hadn’t wanted to trouble anyone, so she hadn’t told anyone. She simply wanted to return the things and hope that man wouldn’t harass her again. But now, worrying Nancy like this made Ruby feel very apologetic.
Nancy’s face turned drastically grim.
Ruby didn’t know Alva, nor did she recognize Marsh Smith’s name.
Marsh hadn’t told his name; he gave Alva the fake name Herbert Smith, always careful to avoid being discovered by Nancy.
Nancy directly checked the surveillance in the flower shop.
The man Ruby mentioned hadn’t entered the flower shop and didn’t appear in the surveillance, but Alva was clearly captured, and even her fierceness in hitting was recorded vividly.
Nancy never expected that the person attacking would be Alva.
She didn’t have much of an impression of Alva.
Just a former employee who came to her flower shop pretending to be pitiful and was dismissed for idleness.
Nancy wouldn’t let this matter slide, since she had arranged for Ruby to be at the flower shop, and she would not tolerate Ruby being assaulted on her turf.
She said coldly, "Luna, keep an eye on Ruby. I need to step out."
Julius naturally followed her.
Luna, knowing her Young Madam was upset, glanced at Julius, considered his combat ability, and wisely agreed, obediently taking care of Ruby.
Ruby anxiously said, "Miss Allen, I’m actually fine. No need to go through trouble for me."
Her always sickly body was already a nuisance, and after what her brother did yesterday, Ruby felt only gratitude and guilt towards Nancy.
Nancy paused, reached out to rub Ruby’s head, and said softly, "Stay here with Luna, I’ll be back soon."
Ruby wanted to say something else.
Luna pulled Ruby aside and earnestly said, "Behave, the Young Madam will handle it."
Luna thought that Ruby was probably similar to how the Young Madam was when she was young—frail and unlucky—not having anyone who could truly protect her.
If Nancy knew what Luna was thinking, she would likely smile wryly.
Indeed, Ruby was much like how she was in the past—sickly, helpless, bullied.
But Ruby was luckier; she had an older brother who would stop at nothing for her.
This was one reason Nancy kept helping Ruby.
She wanted Ruby... to live well.
Nancy and Julius went directly to find Alva.
The fish market was just across the street in the produce market.
After Alva went back, she felt uneasy. She had only intended to teach that woman a lesson, not to hurt her so severely that she ended up spitting blood.
Torn between sending her to the hospital and pretending nothing had happened, she chose the latter.
After all, no one had seen it; what happened to that woman had nothing to do with her.
Alva had calmed down and took out a small mirror to retouch her slightly disheveled lipstick.
Nancy arrived at the fish stall.
Seeing Alva turned sideways, humming a tune while doing her makeup, Nancy felt that some people had malice etched deeply in their bones.
"Customer, picking fish? Which kind do you want? Today’s grass carp is very fresh," a middle-aged man with an apron greeted warmly.
Nancy said coldly, "I’m looking for Alva King."
The middle-aged man instantly recognized Nancy, glancing anxiously at his daughter.
Nancy, the flower shop owner, had once drawn crowds for a spectacle; everyone on this street had seen her before —how could they forget? His daughter had even pestered her way into working at the flower shop.
Hearing the voice, Alva turned her head and, seeing it was Nancy, hastily put away her lipstick with a guilty conscience: "What are you here for?"
Nancy showed no anger, calmly saying, "You were the one who injured Ruby Carter."
After feeling guilty, Alva remembered she had resigned, and that Nancy couldn’t control her, so she raised her head confidently: "Yes, so what? That bitch, who asked her to seduce men all over the place and even filed complaints everywhere."
The middle-aged man, hearing what Alva said, quickly stepped forward to hold her back and admonished, "What are you saying, where did you learn such foul language?"
Then he repeatedly bowed to Nancy, apologizing, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry, my daughter is immature, but she is still young. Please don’t hold it against her, I will educate her slowly."
Nancy’s voice turned colder, impassive: "Is she still young? Yet today she hit a girl much younger than herself, a girl with a serious illness, and caused her excessive bleeding."
The middle-aged man was bewildered.
Alva, feeling guilty, retorted loudly, "How was I supposed to know she had an illness? I just lightly touched her, it’s not my fault she’s losing blood; maybe she just tripped herself. If she’s sick, she shouldn’t come out casually; otherwise, she might have a short life."
Nancy felt that saying more to someone like her was pointless, so she raised her hand and gave her two slaps.
Nancy’s strength wasn’t great, and the slap wasn’t painful.
But Alva, covering her face, stared at Nancy incredulously, unable to accept such humiliation. She sharply intended to hit back: "How dare you hit me, on what grounds?"
Alva didn’t manage to approach Nancy, as Julius disdainfully kicked her away.
Nancy didn’t need to resort to violence herself; if she gave Julius the word, he could beat someone into submission in any myriad of ways.
With a strong kick from Julius, Alva was sent flying straight into the fish tank, splashing water everywhere.
After a brief moment of silence.
The middle-aged man began wailing loudly: "They’ve hit someone, the flower shop owner has hit someone! Bullying us as a father-daughter pair with no one to rely on, just hitting people because they have money. If you have a problem, come at me, don’t harm my daughter!"
