Chapter 1203: Interesting choice of answer

"Miss. Hannnn!"

The Blooming art gallery’s manager, Mr. Yang came rushing to Shui’s side, tears all coating his cheeks.

"Blooming won’t be getting sold now!"

"Really?"

He nodded, sniffling. "Mr. Zhong Sihan came up to me himself, canceling the deal. He was in a bad mood though..."

Shui heaved a big sigh of relief. It was certain that her painting had moved Zhong Sihan, but she wasn’t sure if he would actually accept defeat.

"But he is canceling the deal on only one condition though."

I knew it wouldn’t be so straightforward!

"What is that condition?"

"Your painting wouldn’t be hung in Blooming. He will take it with himself but he won’t pay for it."

She stared at him, speechless.

"What kind of a condition is that?"

His nostrils flared. "I know right! It’s the painting you worked so hard for. How could he not pay for it? Isn’t he looting it?"

"No, I am fine about the money. I didn’t make that painting for any commercial success anyway. It’s just that..."

His request is very odd. Wasn’t he blaming me for painting the swallows and now he wants it for himself?

"It reminds him of his brother," Lin stood beside and said quietly. "Probably, that’s why he wants it."

Shui was quiet for a second.

"Will it be really okay? I know the swallows mean something to him, but I wonder if it will be too painful for him to keep it."

He glanced at her. "He kept his brother’s drawing close to him for all these years. If it would have broken him, then there would be no Zhong Sihan whom we know today. I think he will be fine."

I guess so...

"You must be hungry, right?"

"A little," then she changed her mind. "Actually, a lot."

He nodded. "The stressful part is over."

Mr. Yang clapped his hands in delight. "Yes, we should celebrate! I have been dying to try at your and Mr. Liu’s joint outlet. I heard the queue has already gotten big."

"That’s why you must hurry and must decide if my choice of sauce is superior or Mr. Liu’s," he said with all seriousness.

Why is he strangely so passionate about a sandwich sauce? She was speechless.

"It doesn’t end here, Hou Lin," Jian’s eyes narrowed.

"It doesn’t indeed," Lin matched his serious gaze.

Apparently, there was no consensus reached about the choice of the sandwich sauce. People liked Jian’s version as much as they liked Lin’s. It was an impasse.

Jin grimaced. "Why are you so hung up on a damn sandwich sauce?"

"You don’t understand the gravity of it."

"Thank God, I don’t. Anyway, Shui won. We should definitely celebrate it sometime. Not today. You must be tired."

Shui stretched her arms. "I feel like taking a dip in a hot spring."

"Oooo, we should totally plan that like a family trip," Nuo’s eyes brightened.

"Nuo, that’s not fair! You want to dump all the work on your poor older brother and enjoy yourself?"

"Like you have done to me many times," she said coldly.

"You cannot leave me aloneeee-"

Nuo ignored the eldest child’s sobs and said, "Are you coming home with me Shui?"

"I will come later. I need to talk to Mr. Yang a bit."

She nodded.

Alix shrugged. "Guess Zhong Sihan would stay quiet now."

Shui turned and stared at him and Han Tian at a distance. They seemed to be bickering about something. Then she looked at Lin.

"I can’t say," she sighed. "Don’t forget that he still hasn’t given up on adopting Lin. He would most definitely not stay quiet."

She raised a brow. "That’s true."

"What?"

"What?"

"I felt you were staring at me...oddly."

"Don’t I always do that? Makes people be on edge."

"Why do you want me to be on edge?"

"It’s fun."

Shui grimaced. "You are the odd one, you know?"

She walked away to meet Mr. Yang one last time and Jin asked, "Were you really looking at her oddly?"

"Nothing. I just thought her choice of answer was interesting."

Jin paused and thought back. "About Mr. Zhong and Hou Lin?"

She smiled. "Technically, her life’s problems are over. Blooming is safe and she wouldn’t have to deal with Zhong Sihan again. She is a free bird now."

"True."

"Yet she said that it’s not over because of his and Lin’s equation. That’s technically Lin’s life’s problems which she doesn’t really have to get involved or concerned with. But she said it anyway."

Jin didn’t respond to that immediately. Only one syllable came out in the end."

"Huh."

She shrugged. "Not like you haven’t felt that way."

"I thought I was imagining things on his birthday."

"You have a good imagination."

He paused. Then sheepishly grinned. "I have a good imagination in another sense too."

"Which translates into a very good reality too."

Jin choked.

Damn it. I can never take her off guard!

"You go ahead, Cai. I have some things to buy at the grocery store."

"Okay, Bro."

Lin glanced at him and then at Ru Yi. She was stepping into her family car to leave as well.

"You can talk to her if you want."

"Huh? No, I..I don’t want to talk to her."

"There are some unresolved issues between you two. I am not saying you two should necessarily get back together. But misgivings should be sorted. You cannot keep clinging onto the awkwardness forever."

He looked down and Lin patted his shoulder. "Think about it."

From a distance, he saw Shui stepping out of Blooming. He thought for a moment and approached her.

"Mr. Han and Miss. Nuo have already left. Do you have a car to return?"

"I was just about to call for one."

"Shall I drop you?"

"No, no it will be too much trouble."

"It won’t be," then he asked, "Are you free tomorrow?"

"I guess? I don’t have anything lined up. Why?"

"We had decided to have a serious bowling match after the exhibition."

Shui gasped. "Oh my God yes! I have to defeat you!"

"That’s yet to be seen."

Her expression twisted. "That attitude! Forget home. Let’s play the match now and decide this once and for all!"

"But you are tired-"

"Victory will be mine once and for all!" Her nostrils flared.

"..."

She is strangely very passionate about the bowling game...
