Chapter 113: Locating The Mana Source

Despite the injuries that riddled Adrian’s body, he kept on pressing thorough the fight with purpose.

He had a plan in mind. A a simple one, but brutal in its execution.

To take down the Magma Sovereign, just as he had the thirty-one other 5-Star Magical Beasts before it, he needed to play the role of bait.

He had to lure the beast to the exact spot he wanted, a task far easier said than done.

He had narrowly escaped death over ten times already, but progress was progress.

~WHOOSH!~

A massive fireball roared toward him, its searing heat scorching the air. Adrian didn’t need to look back.

He is body moved on instinct thanks to [Omnisense]. The skill was a gift he hadn’t expected from the System and it had been a life saver in his fight.

It sharpened his perception to an almost supernatural degree, letting him sense every shift in mana, every subtle vibration in the air, no matter how fast or imperceptible the attack.

With [Omnisense] active, his instincts were heightened to a level where he could picture himself outmatching even the most skilled Knights.

Best of all, he hadn’t even begun to tap its full potential.

~FWOOOM!~

Another fireball streaked past, and Adrian spun smoothly, his body twisting midair as he leaped high, his movements fluid despite the exhaustion weighing him down.

In one seamless motion, he drew his mana gun from his [Inventory], its sleek form brimming with energy.

He had upgraded it over the past five days and it could now channel the power of a 4-Star magic crystal. Now, equipped with one, he charged it fully, aimed and fired.

~ZWOOSHH!~

The blast erupted from the barrel, a bolt of crackling energy that tore through the air with blinding speed.

The Magma Sovereign roared, its molten armor thickening as it tried to absorb the attack.

Adrian had sensed the beast’s momentary loss of control before, and he had capitalized on the opportunity to land a hit.

Now, with the crystal spent, he returned the gun to his [Inventory] and surged forward, his body a blur of afterimages as he executed the Phantom Flow Technique.

’This is my chance.’

After traveling about three kilometers from his previous spot, Adrian had reached his destination.

He skidded to a stop and crossed his hands over his chest, watching the Magma Sovereign from afar.

The beast had already recovered from the mana gun’s blast, its molten form radiating waves of heat as it charged toward him, closing the distance with terrifying speed.

Its eyes glowed with primal fury and its killing intent was so strong that it would have shattered the resolve of most.

But Adrian stood unfazed, his [Omnisense] granting him clarity amidst the chaos.

He popped a bright red pill into his mouth, feeling its effects immediately.

The wounds on his body began to knit together, the pain dulling as his strength surged. He wasn’t concerned with the lingering aches. The fight was as good as over.

Everything happened in a heartbeat. Adrian retrieved a small device from his [Inventory], and the Magma Sovereign, in its relentless pursuit to get back to a range where it could use its attacks, did not notice the trap until it was too late.

Its massive form plummeted into a deep, concealed pit, the ground giving way beneath its weight.

Adrian’s lips curled into a smirk as he pressed the button on the device.

High above the pit, ten drones were already stationed in the sky above the pit’s position.

With the press of the button, each drone released a 4-Star grenade, the pins disengaging with a faint click.

~KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOOM KABOOOM! KABOOOOM! KABOOOOOM! KABOOOOOOOM!~

The pit erupted in a cataclysmic series of explosions, the blasts tearing through the Magma Sovereign’s molten armor and shredding its body into fragments.

A massive dust cloud billowed upward, obscuring the devastation below.

The ground trembled, and the air crackled with residual mana, the sheer force of the explosions leaving a ringing in Adrian’s ears.

[Congratulations! You have killed a magical beast!]

The System’s notification flashed in his mind, and Adrian exhaled, the tension in his shoulders easing.

He felt the beast’s corpse and its crystal automatically added to his [Inventory] and he dusted off his hands, his smirk widening.

"Finally. Time to check what’s radiating all that mana."

He didn’t bother donning his Power Suit. Over the past five days, Adrian had realized he had been underestimating his own body.

The suit amplified his strength twofold and his defense threefold, but he could still do okay without such enhancements, especially with the pills he had perfected.

Pill-making had now become an art for him with the new cauldron, and he had developed a formula that ensured every pill was 100% pure at the right conditions.

They were more cost-efficient than relying on TP for the suit, though he learned the hard way about pill overdose and diminishing returns from overuse.

Moderation was key, and right now, his body was fully recovered, save for the lingering ache of exhaustion.

As he moved past the site of his battle with the Magma Sovereign, the silence was stark.

No growls, no tremors, no distant roars. He’d single-handedly cleared every beast in the area, leaving the entire land eerily still.

Through his investigations, Adrian had theorized that the beasts escaped the boundary’s mana formation periodically, likely during specific intervals.

But for now, he was safe, but he knew the respite was temporary. "I’ll figure something out later," he muttered to himself, his focus locked on the task at hand.

Following the System’s map, Adrian trekked toward the pulsing red dot, its glow intensifying with every step.

The air grew thick with mana as he walked closer. The Mana was so dense that it came close to the effect of a Mana Gathering Array.

On getting to the spot where the glow was centered on, Adrian scanned the area, expecting to find an artifact or a relic.

"There’s nothing," he came to the conclusion after some seconds. Frowning, Adrian activated [Omnisense], his perception sharpening to a razor’s edge.

He scoured the area again, his senses probing every inch of the desolate terrain.

Then, he felt it... It was a faint, anomalous pulse beneath the surface.

"That must be it."

Adrian knelt on the hard ground and pressed his ear on it.

But there was only silence.

He didn’t give up, summoning a heavy hammer from his [Inventory] onto his hand and carefully striking the ground.

The impact sent a dull thud echoing into the earth, and there it was... an echo.

"The mana source is underneath."
