Reborn with Consumption System-Chapter 528 - 241: Leveraging Up!
2:45 PM, Tang Xintian went upstairs and knocked on Han Lie’s door.
2:50 PM, accompanied by Tang Xintian, Han Lie arrived at the main conference hall and saw a vast sea of people.
There was nothing unusual about a bank’s year-end meeting. Even county-level branches could organize one, and their enthusiasm was no less than that of larger branches or the head office. Organizing such an event typically involved finding a hotel, sending out invitations to major clients, inviting a couple of economists specializing in macroeconomics, and preparing a buffet. Including two rather practical gifts pleased the clients, and the organizers could also look forward to a lucrative year-end. If the standards were higher, they might even invite the local supervising officials. Everyone would enjoy a joyful meal together, spending public money to cultivate private relationships—what was not to like?
In the years that followed, major banks began to spend less effort on annual meetings; the reasons were clear enough without needing elaboration.
Anyway, the standards for such events were currently quite high. Han Lie glanced over and saw more than a dozen empty seats in the front row. Those empty seats had been occupied before. No need to elaborate on why they were empty now. Those who had experienced it understood; those who hadn’t didn’t need to.
Han Lie looked around but didn’t see Director Huang. Offhandedly, he asked Tang Xintian, "None of the bank’s leaders are here?"
Thinking Han Lie was dissatisfied, Tang Xintian quickly explained, "The leaders are upstairs accompanying guests."
Oh, he understood. Han Lie smiled, easing the tension. "It’s perfect that they aren’t here. I can brag without any worries."
"I’m looking forward to it."
Tang Xintian smiled brightly, her attitude exceptionally accommodating, but her scrutiny outweighed her trust. Essentially, she was more interested in testing Han Lie’s mettle.
You sly little fox, let’s see what dazzling performance you can give!
The previous speaker quickly stepped down.
Director Liu strode onto the stage, also serving as the host.
"Distinguished guests, my dearest clients, next to the stage is Magic Capital’s most dazzling new financial star, the genius trader, the private equity sector’s most mysterious dark horse—Mr. Han Lie!"
Director Liu spoke with passion and eloquence.
EMMM, quite effective...
"Mr. Han made a spectacular debut at the annual God of Stocks PK Competition, co-hosted by Tencent and Great Wisdom. He secured the championship for eight consecutive weeks with an absolute advantage, stunning the entire secondary market. Many of SPD Bank’s top-tier clients have specifically sought out Mr. Han for advice. After several discussions, everyone held Mr. Han in the highest esteem and immediately decided to support him in launching a private fund. Just last week, this fund achieved an outstanding profit of 180 million, a 45% return in a single week. Upon hearing this news, our bank’s private banking division immediately received numerous calls for consultation.
However, unfortunately, Mr. Han is dedicated, sincere, humble, and low-profile. He did not wish to be interviewed or make public appearances. Consequently, he continuously declined lecture invitations from Hai Tong, CITIC, Junan, and many other major securities firms. Several small and medium-sized securities brokers, investment companies, and private equity funds even offered appearance fees of over a million yuan per hour for Mr. Han. But Mr. Han has never accepted any of these invitations.
Today, SPD Bank, to show our gratitude for the immense support and affection from our esteemed clients, has, through his mentors, finally managed to invite Mr. Han to this sharing session. This is Mr. Han’s first public appearance and his only stock market sharing class. Now, please welcome Mr. Han to the stage with your most enthusiastic applause!"
Good grief! You people really know how to hype things up, and with such audacity...
Han Lie wanted to laugh listening to all this, but a truly enthusiastic round of applause erupted from the audience. People were also whispering and putting their heads together in discussion.
"Who is Mr. Han?"
"SPD Bank’s top-tier clients? Who are they?"
"Have you guys heard about this?"
"Of course! Director Huang from Yuheng got in early with Mr. Han and made a fortune. You mean you don’t know?"
"And Fifth Sister Jin—she’s told me many times how incredibly skilled Mr. Han is."
"Wow, SPD Bank is really pulling out all the stops this year, huh?"
"Let’s wait and see. Hopefully, it’s not just another attempt to fool us..."
"I think a friend of mine mentioned him. That Mr. Han supposedly even overshadowed Director Xu. He must be a real expert, right?"
"Who told you that nonsense? In the private equity circle, who can outperform the top dog?"
"Overshadowing him is definitely bullshit, but it seems everyone in my buddy’s circle does know this guy."
"What does your buddy do?"
"Works at a securities firm!"
Some people knew, but many more didn’t. However, those in the know often exaggerated things fivefold to make themselves appear well-informed. So, before Han Lie even took the stage, expectations had been cranked up to the maximum, to say the least.
However, not two seconds later...
"Holy crap! That kid is... Mr. Han?!"
Han Lie entered from the side of the stage and strode quickly to the lectern in the center, where a laptop was placed. The noise from below suddenly surged to a new peak.
Before coming downstairs, his young assistant had slicked back Han Lie’s hair. His hair was greased with a layer of product so slick a fly would lose its footing. His forehead was broad, with slightly prominent brow ridges and cheekbones, a straight nasal bridge, and a sharply defined jawline. He wore that peacock blue Armani casual suit with a small open collar. It was a slim-fit design with a two-button front, slanted pockets, and made of luxurious, high-quality fabric. Underneath, he wore a dark red shirt. It wasn’t entirely formal but lent him an air of maturity.
The problem was, no matter how maturely he was dressed, Han Lie still looked like a young man in his early twenties. The proud lines of his bone structure couldn’t conceal the youthfulness of his features. That face, full of collagen and smooth skin, would make anyone recall their own youth.
"Whoa! Isn’t he way too young?"
Similar exclamations rippled through the crowd, and a sense of disbelief spread rapidly. People are all the same, after all; they tend to question the young, believing in the old adage: "No facial hair, not dependable."
