Chapter 22 - 22: Mission Accomplished But...

The clearing was deathly still, the air heavy with pressure and the distant rumble of gathering light energy.

Evon stood at the forefront, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. His vision blurred at the edges, the strain from activating Destiny Prison far greater than he had anticipated.

Still, he forced a calm smile onto his lips.

Even though it strained him so much, he was successful to protect his companions multiple times. The Destiny Prison not only trap enemies but can also be used to protect his own companions.

When the sovereign beast targeted Naia and was about to strike at her Evon used Destiny Prison on Naia. Her body became illusory and the sovereign beast failed to inflict any damage to her.

Evon used it multiple times to protect others while fighting with the sovereign beast and for using it so much, he was affected by the backlash.

Naia reached Evon to support him "Evon don't push yourself too much, some minor injury will not harm us. You need to be careful."

Lyria nodded "Yes, Evon please don't harm yourself. You are the most important to us"

Sythara said "Yes, Evon leave the rest to us. Don't push yourself this hard."

Veyra's cyber warriors kept the sovereign beast busy. No matter how strong the sovereign beast was against a thousand elite level cyber warriors it has no chance to break the encirclement quickly.

Evon's Eyes of Fate glowed as he activated his ability.

"No" Said Evon "You can't defeat it."

Sythara asked "Why do you say that?"

Naia also didn't understand "Evon, what did you see?"

Lyria said "We have all awakened as goddesses, so why can't we defeat it? What did you see now Evon?"

Evon said "We need the power of darkness to defeat it, otherwise we can't defeat it" He turned to Veyra,

"Veyra," he said, voice low but firm, "can you activate all your cyber warriors with the darkness element and fire a coordinated dark beam at the beast?"

Veyra, though pale and strained herself, nodded without hesitation. "Yes, I can, Evon. Just say the word."

"Good," Evon breathed, steadying himself. "It's settled. On my signal, fire everything at once."

He turned to the others, his companions gathered with worried eyes.

"Step back," Evon ordered. "I'm going to trap it in Destiny Prison first. Once trapped, Veyra will unleash everything."

"Be careful!" Naia called softly, her voice filled with emotion.

"You push yourself too hard," Lyria muttered, gripping her burning fists tightly.

Sythara's golden eyes narrowed. "We'll be ready to move the moment you need us, Evon."

Their trust warmed him inside. He gave them a slight nod. "Don't worry, we will defeat it now."

Everyone stepped back, retreating beyond the perimeter set by the thousand cyber warriors. The field was eerily silent, save for the crackling hum of gathering energy.

The Sovereign Beast crouched low, sensing the incoming threat. Light flared wildly along its newly-formed wings, ready to charge and unleash devastation.

Just as it lunged forward—

Evon activated Destiny Prison.

A wave of unseen energy pulsed outward from his body, cracking the ground beneath his feet.

The Sovereign Beast froze mid-motion, its form shimmering, becoming translucent, fading from reality. Its massive body looked half-erased from existence, as though trapped between worlds.

The pressure from the Destiny Prison was unbearable.

Evon grunted sharply as he felt a stabbing pain surge through his brain. His Eyes of Fate bled, crimson rivulets trailing down his cheeks like tears of blood.

The world tilted around him.

"Evon!" Naia gasped, taking a step forward.

"Stay back!" Evon barked, breathing heavily, but with steel in his voice. "I'm fine... Focus!"

Veyra's thousand cyber warriors, now arranged in perfect geometric formations around the imprisoned beast, raised their weapons simultaneously.

Blades gleamed darkly, cannons hummed with ominous power, every single unit charged with pure darkness element.

The ground seemed to hum with their power, as if the very island recognized the death coming.

Veyra's fingers danced in precise motions, issuing rapid commands to her army.

A second later, Evon's voice, rough but commanding, rang out:

"Veyra! Strike now!"

At that instant, he withdrew Destiny Prison.

The Sovereign Beast's body flickered back into full existence—only to be met with an instant, unrelenting, devastating assault.

A thousand dark beams fired simultaneously.

BOOM!

The air tore apart with the sudden, deafening shockwave.

Dark blades sliced the Sovereign Beast's golden armor, blackening its gleaming body. Dark cannons bombarded it from every direction, every shot puncturing its defenses.

The beast howled in rage and confusion, spinning and lashing out—but there was nothing it could do.

Every movement was immediately punished by a barrage of dark strikes. Its wings were shredded, its limbs cracked and shattered. Black energy corroded its once-divine light, ripping away its radiance.

Evon stumbled back, supported by Sythara, watching grimly.

"Keep going..." he whispered.

Veyra gritted her teeth and pushed her energy harder, commanding wave after wave of coordinated attacks.

The Sovereign Beast roared in agony, a sound that shook the entire Light Island—but it could not defend itself against an enemy so numerous, so precisely ordered.

The cyber warriors closed in, moving like a machine, an unstoppable tide.

Minute by minute, under the relentless hail of dark energy, the Sovereign Beast's body broke apart.

Ten minutes later—

The once-mighty creature let out a final, broken roar, its body collapsing into pieces of shattered golden crystal, which disintegrated into dust under the last volley of dark beams.

Silence.

The island itself seemed to hold its breath.

The thousand cyber warriors slowly lowered their weapons, their task complete.

Veyra fell to one knee, exhausted, sweat dripping down her brow.

Evon staggered toward her, blood still dripping from his eyes but smiling through the pain.

"You did it," he said hoarsely.

Veyra looked up, her face a mixture of exhaustion and fierce pride. "No... We did it."

Naia rushed over and immediately conjured a mist of healing water around Evon, cooling his burning eyes.

Lyria sighed heavily, finally allowing her flames to dim. "Damn, that was close... You scared the hell out of me, Evon."

Sythara simply grunted and ruffled Evon's hair affectionately. "You're an idiot... but a brilliant one."

They all laughed softly, the tension melting into a wave of exhausted relief.

The golden dust of the Sovereign Beast drifted into the air like fireflies, sparkling and vanishing into the starry twilight now spreading over Light Island.

---

The golden dust from the fallen Sovereign Beast still drifted lazily through the evening air, like remnants of a dying star.

But before Evon and his companions could even catch their breath—

Suddenly, a blinding light erupted from the spot where the Sovereign Beast had fallen.

"Wh-what is that?!" Lyria gasped, shielding her eyes with her arm.

"I can't see anything!" Naia cried out, squinting against the unbearable brightness.

Sythara growled low in her throat, wings instinctively spreading around Evon to shield him. "Everyone, stay close!"

Veyra raised her arms to cover her face, her exhausted body trembling under the harsh brilliance. "This energy... it feels different!"

Lyria said "What happened, is it another beast awakening again?"

Naia said "No, this energy feels a little different..."

Sythara snorted angrily "Damn, it's so annoying! no matter what kind of beast I will crush it to death!"

Evon narrowed his eyes, even through the stabbing pain of the light, trying to peer into it.

The brilliance was pure, almost holy—nothing like the chaotic radiance the Sovereign Beast had wielded.

Seconds ticked by painfully slow.

Then—

The blinding light finally began to fade.

As the glow diminished, the companions slowly lowered their arms, blinking rapidly to adjust.

Lyria sighed "Whoa... Finally the light faded, it felt like I'm going to be blind"

Naia nodded "Yes, finally the light is gone"

Sythara snorted "Humph.. Finally, let's see what kind of beast caused such commotion"

They looked to see what happened to cause such scene.

What they saw made all of them freeze in shock.

Standing where the Sovereign Beast had fallen was a tall, ethereal figure.

A goddess-like woman.

She had mesmerizing green eyes that shimmered like deep forests touched by dawn, and her long, flowing golden hair cascaded down to her waist, shimmering with its own inner light. A delicate, elegant white-golden dress clung to her graceful form, fluttering softly in the still air.

Her aura was unlike anything they had ever felt before — warm, pure, ancient.

"...Who... is she?" Naia whispered, eyes wide in amazement.

"She's beautiful...but how did she appeared suddenly out of nowhere?" Veyra muttered under her breath, her voice filled with awe.

"Is she... one of the Radiant Beasts or is it the sovereign beast's humanoid form?" Lyria asked warily, clenching her fists, still ready to fight if necessary.

Sythara stepped protectively closer to Evon, her tail curling in tension. "No. She's something...different."

The golden-haired lady looked at them and slowly opened her mouth, her voice like a soft bell in the silence.

"Hello," she said, smiling gently. "I am Yena, of the Light Elemental Tribe."

Everyone listened in stunned silence as she spoke, her voice wrapping around them like a warm embrace.

"This island," Yena continued, her gaze turning wistful, "was once the home of our Light Elemental Tribe. It was a paradise, a place filled with song, peace, and radiant life."

Her voice wavered slightly, and pain flickered through her luminous green eyes.

"But one day... suddenly... Radiant Beasts appeared. They were not born of our world. They killed all of my kind, one after another. They didn't distinguish between children and adults, they killed and ate all of them. They grew stronger and numerous as they continued to devour."

She paused for a moment then continued "When I was the last survivor, a blinding light enveloped me... and I don't remember anything after that."

The companions remained silent, moved by the sorrow etched into her words.

Evon took a step forward, about to speak—but Yena's eyes shifted to him sharply, her expression filling with sudden concern.

His eyes were still bleeding.

Without hesitation, Yena approached him, her steps graceful like a breeze gliding over water.

Sythara was about to stop her but Veyra gave a message to not.

Yena raised her delicate hand. A gentle, golden light gathered around her palm and flowed into Evon's eyes.

The warmth was immediate.

The stabbing pain receded. The bleeding stopped. The cracks in his mind and spirit that he hadn't even noticed — soothed and mended in an instant.

Everyone stared, wide-eyed.

"That's..." Naia breathed, astonished. "Incredible healing magic..."

Evon blinked slowly, feeling his vision clear, sharper than ever.

Yena smiled again, kindness radiating from her entire being.

"In our world, there are no men," she said softly, gazing into Evon's now-healed golden eyes. "You are... different. Special. There must be a reason for your existence in this world."

"More importantly, You saved me. From today onward, I will serve you and your companions. This is my oath." And with that, without hesitation, Yena knelt down in front of them.

A stunned silence filled the air.

"Yena, please stand," Evon said gently, reaching out to lift her by her hands.

She looked up at him with wide, questioning eyes.

"You don't need to kneel before us," Evon said, his voice filled with quiet authority and warmth. "I can heal my companions... but to heal myself... I needed you."

He smiled faintly, his golden gaze shining brighter than ever.

"I am the Seer of this world, Evon. And when you healed me, I saw it — you are destined to be one of us. You are destined to be with me and them."

The golden air seemed to hum around them as the words sank in.

Yena blinked, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "Destined..." she whispered.

Lyria finally found her voice, grinning slyly. "Heh. Looks like our family just got bigger. Very well, very well Evon need to work hard from today."

Naia smiled warmly, stepping forward to offer her hand. "Welcome, Yena. We're happy to have you."

Sythara gave a small nod of approval, her fierce expression softening. "You'll fit right in. You will surely enjoy being with us from now on."

Veyra chuckled tiredly but smiled. "Looks like fate has good taste. Evon you must be prepared to work hard."

Evon nodded "Heh, don't worry, along with all of you I have also became stronger than before."

Yena placed her hand over her heart and bowed deeply, though this time standing tall.

"I will dedicate everything I am," she vowed solemnly. "To you all."

Evon reached out, gently brushing a strand of her golden hair behind her ear.

"And we," he said, voice low and steady, "will protect you, just as you protect us. You are a member of our family."

She nodded "Yes...We are.. Family"

For the first time in what felt like an eternity, Yena smiled — a real, brilliant smile that seemed to light up the entire island.
