"You shouldn’t have bothered, Len," Adrienne said as her husband set the tray on the table. He then moved to the bed to pick her up, careful not to pull hard on the IV that was still connected to her hand. He then gently carried her back to the chair by the window, where she could watch the sunrise appear in the skyline while she had breakfast.

Adrienne eagerly ate her breakfast and savored the peaceful moment with her husband by her side. As they sat together, she couldn’t help but feel grateful for his thoughtfulness. Lennox sat across from her and was drinking a cup of coffee.

"You could have at least slept more than accompanying me this early, Len," Adrienne commented once she finished her meal.

Lennox shook his head and smiled. How could he choose sleep when she is awake now?

"I woke up before you did, Addie, and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep anytime soon now that you are awake. I called the doctor, and he should arrive soon to check on you."

"I’m sorry for making you worry, Len. I didn’t mean to cause any trouble."

Lennox smiled and reached out to her, gently squeezing her hand. "Don’t apologize, Addie. I’m just glad you’re safe now."

After a month of missing his wife, Lennox finally had her back by his side. They were finally together again, and that mattered to him.

It didn’t take long before they heard a knock on their door. Lennox opened it, allowing the doctor and his mother-in-law to enter.

Rosemary was about to ask him why he had summoned the doctor so early when her eyes caught her daughter awake and seated with a smile on her face.

"Hi, Mom. I didn’t know you were here." Adrienne said.

Rosemary’s eyes instantly broke into tears, and she rushed over to embrace her daughter tightly.

"Addie? You’re my Addie?" She cupped Adrienne’s face as she continued to cry.

"Is there another Adrienne you gave birth to, Mom?" Adrienne asked in a teasing tone.

Rosemary laughed and replied, "No, my love, you are my only Adrienne. I’m glad to have you back."

She allowed the doctor to check Adrienne’s condition and asked several questions. As the doctor finished examining Adrienne, Rosemary anxiously awaited their response.

"I can’t see any signs of major injuries or complications," the doctor reassured Rosemary. "Adrienne is physically healthy, but we will need to monitor her closely for any emotional or psychological effects from her ordeal. I suggest you visit the hospital for an overall assessment and follow-up appointments with a therapist to ensure her well-being."

Rosemary nodded, relieved to hear the news. She knew that healing would take time, but having Adrienne back safe and sound was the greatest relief she could have requested.

Adrienne freshened up with her help and was glad she didn’t need to rely on an IV anymore. She then went down to meet everyone who was up for breakfast. Lennox’s siblings were seated in the dining room. They were silent and poking at their food as they waited for Lennox to join them.

"Why’s the long face?" Adrienne asked, immediately getting everyone’s attention.

The five of them comically turned their heads to look in her direction, their faces breaking into wide smiles as they screamed her name. Among them, Noah was the most relieved to see his adopted mother awake and well. He had been worried sick about her during her hospital stay, and seeing her up and about brought him immense joy.

He jolted up from his seat and ran towards Adrienne with tears rolling down his face. Noah had stopped picking up his paintbrushes and working on any project when Adrienne fell sick. Even though the new school year had just started, he couldn’t focus on anything but his mother’s health. As he embraced her tightly, he felt a sense of relief wash over him.

"Be careful not to touch your mother’s wound, Noah." He heard Lennox say, and it was only then that Noah pulled away to look at his mother with concern.

"It’s alright, Noah," Adrienne reassured him, gently touching his cheek. "I’m feeling much better now. The doctors say I just need some rest, and I’ll return to my old self in no time."

Noah’s worries began to ease as he saw the genuine smile on his mother’s face, knowing that she was on the road to recovery. The incident of her attack had left quite a traumatic impact on Noah, causing him to become hyper-vigilant and protective of his mother.

Adrienne took this chance to ask everyone how they were fairing. She expected Myrtle and Valerie to arrive anytime soon, as her husband gave them a call earlier to give them an update. As for her older brother, Adrienne decided to give him a call later that night, as she didn’t want to disturb him at work.

Lennox’s siblings refused to leave her side and were only allowed to give her some peace when Lennox told them they were going to the hospital for Adrienne’s checkup.

Adrienne’s heart swelled with gratitude as she looked around at her loving family. Despite the trauma she had endured, their unwavering support and presence filled her with a sense of strength. She knew she would overcome this dark Chapter in her life with them by her side. As for her father, Lennox hadn’t mentioned anything about him, but she could tell he and the Zhao family had already dealt with Lewis.

As they made their way to the hospital, Adrienne couldn’t help but reflect on what she had experienced for the past month. For her to witness the events after her passing in her previous life made Adrienne cherish the second chance she had been given.

It made her appreciate every moment and every opportunity to be with her loved ones. She realized that life was fragile and unpredictable, and Adrienne promised to make the most of it, surrounded by the love and support of her family.

The doctor’s appointment was fast; Lennox had already arranged things before their arrival. The medical team assured her that physically, she was healing well, but they emphasized the importance of continued therapy to address any emotional scars left behind by the traumatic incident. She agreed to the suggestion when she noticed the worry on her husband’s face.

When they arrived home, Myrtle and Valerie had already arrived. Valerie didn’t waste time and engulfed Adrienne in a tight hug, relief washing through her as soon as she saw Adrienne awake.

"You have no idea how worried we were when you remained asleep for so long."

"Hey. I’ve been working hard for some time now. I thought it was time for me to get some beauty rest." Adrienne teased, though she knew she truly made them worry about her.

Valerie joined in the laughter, her eyes filled with tears of relief.

"Oh, Addie, we were so scared. I’m just glad you’re back with us now." She said while Myrtle remained silent behind her. "As much as I want to stay and talk with you, I have a meeting in an hour with one of our suppliers. Let’s catch up later, okay, Addie?"

Myrtle followed Adrienne in her study room and hadn’t uttered a word. She delivered her report as usual, which made Adrienne wonder why Myrtle wasn’t reacting as others did. She asked if Myrtle was upset about something.

"The sales are doing well, and the manufacturing process for our recent collection is meeting the deadlines. Valerie is working with Sunny to oversee the branches during your absence."

"I’m not worried about Purple Cloud, Myrtle. I hired everyone for a reason. I’m sorry, Myrtle. I didn’t mean to make you worry."

Myrtle fell silent, her lips quivering as she stood before Adrienne. Adrienne finally understood that her best friend was trying to control her emotions.

Adrienne sighed and stood up to hug Myrtle. As soon as Adrienne held her, Myrtle cried tearfully, her body shaking with relief and pent-up emotions. Adrienne held her tightly, feeling the weight of Myrtle’s worries and fears melt away with each sob.

"It’s okay, Myrtle," Adrienne whispered, her voice filled with understanding. "I’m here now, and everything will be alright."

Myrtle clung to Adrienne as if she were a lifeline, her tears dampening Adrienne’s shoulder.

"I was so scared, Addie," Myrtle choked out between sobs. "When I heard what happened... I thought I was going to lose you. When you woke up for the first time since the incident, you were hysterical, Addie. You were saying words we couldn’t understand. You even kept apologizing to me about something... I’m telling you now, Addie. You never failed me in any way. You don’t need to apologize to me for anything."

Adrienne stroked Myrtle’s hair soothingly, offering words of comfort. "I’m here, Myrtle. I’m safe now."

Eventually, Myrtle pulled away, wiping away her tears with the back of her hand while keeping a firm grip on Adrienne’s arm.

"I’m sorry," Myrtle said softly, her voice trembling with lingering emotions. "I should have been there for you more."

Adrienne shook her head, a warm smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Myrtle, you’ve been my rock throughout all of this. You never left my side when I needed you most. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend."

Myrtle sniffled, a small smile breaking through her tears.

"I’m just glad that you are back now. I wouldn’t know what to do if you didn’t wake up."
