Chapter 459: Make Things Right (1)

Adrienne wasn’t oblivious to the look she was receiving from the other guests at the event, but she chose to ignore it and focus on her husband. Lennox moved towards her and kissed her on the cheek before smiling at Noah and Scarlett.

"I wasn’t expecting you to be here," he said, pleasantly surprised. "I’m glad you could make it."

Lennox was glad to see her after days of being unable to wake up next to her. He missed her warmth and the comfort of her presence. He couldn’t help but smile as he embraced her tightly.

"How can I miss this important event in your life, Len? You’ve been working on this project for years, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world." Adrienne replied, giving her husband a pat on the back.

Lennox pulled away and looked into Adrienne’s eyes, a mixture of gratitude and love filling his gaze. He was glad that, despite their recent argument, Adrienne still cared about him. He wasn’t expecting her to attend the event, as he hadn’t received any calls or messages for the past few days. As the event began earlier, he scanned the crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of her familiar face.

"Thank you, Addie," Lennox whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "It means a lot to me."

"Go now. You still have a long day ahead of you," Adrienne replied, patting her husband.

Lennox hesitated momentarily and went up the stage as the emcee called his name. He took a deep breath and began his speech, occasionally glancing at his wife in the front row for support. Although he knew his wife hadn’t completely forgiven him, her presence was enough for him to gather the courage to speak from his heart.

The event was successful, and Chairman Qin and Lennox introduced the new product to the audience with enthusiasm and confidence. The audience responded positively, showing great interest in the new product.

Adrienne watched the event with a smile, proud of what her husband had accomplished. She knew how hard Lennox had worked to develop and launch this project. She could see the happiness on his face as he presented the product to the audience. He had poured countless hours into its creation, finally paying off.

Adrienne had never seen her husband this proud and fulfilled before. She clapped along with the audience, her heart swelling with pride for his hard work and success. A wide smile spread across her lips as he took his final bow. She knew that all the sacrifices they had made were worth it.

As the applause subsided, Lennox made his way down from the stage, radiating a sense of accomplishment. Looking at his smiling face, Adrienne couldn’t help but feel guilty, knowing her husband had abandoned pursuing his dreams for her sake.

She knew how much Lennox loved her, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that she had taken something precious from him. She couldn’t help but wonder if she could ever make it up to him. She wanted to somehow make it up to him, to show him how much she appreciated his sacrifice and dedication.

Lennox shortly joined them, accepting everyone’s congratulatory messages with a humble smile. Jacob scoffed, seeing how the event was successful and feeling bitter about Lennox’s accomplishments. He left the venue without saying a word and ignored the urge to make a scene.

Adrienne saw his departure and was relieved Jacob hadn’t caused a scene. They walked hand in hand through the crowd, accepting congratulations and well-wishes from colleagues and friends. Adrienne couldn’t help but notice the change in people’s attitudes towards him. Gone were the judgmental glances from earlier in the evening. Now, they looked at her husband with admiration and respect.

"Is something wrong?" Lennox asked, concerned after seeing her in a daze.

"Nothing. I’m so proud of you, Len," she whispered, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "You did an amazing job up there today."

Lennox turned to look at her, his tired eyes searching hers for any sign of resentment or regret. Instead, he found nothing but kindness and love reflected in him. He squeezed her hand gently.

"Thank you, Addie," he said sincerely, his voice filled with gratitude. "I couldn’t have done it without your support."

Adrienne smiled warmly, her heart swelling with affection for her husband. She had always believed in him, even during their darkest moments. She knew that this project meant more to him than just professional success—it was a chance for redemption and a fresh start.

"You deserve this success, Len. You’ve worked hard for it."

As the night went on, Lennox found herself engaged in conversations about future collaborations and business opportunities. People who had once dismissed his ideas now eagerly sought his opinion. It was a heady feeling, but amidst all the newfound attention, he never lost sight of what truly mattered—his love for Adrienne and his siblings. No amount of success could replace the joy he found in their presence and support.

As the evening wore on, Lennox and Adrienne found a quiet corner away from the crowd. The soft glow of the chandeliers illuminated their faces, casting a warm and intimate atmosphere around them. Lennox took a moment to observe his wife. He reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Are you still upset with me, Addie? When do you plan to return home?" He asked in a low tone. "Do you want me to grovel for you to forgive me?"

Adrienne lowered her gaze and looked at their intertwined hands. She then shook her head.

"Not yet. I’m still upset with you, Len. You’ve already broken your promise. How sure are you that you won’t do it again? You haven’t even done something to free my father."

Lennox looked guilt-stricken. He wouldn’t have gone after her father if he had known Adrienne would leave him like this. Every day she wasn’t by his side felt like a punishment, a constant reminder of his mistakes.

His heart sank as he realized the consequences of his actions. But he couldn’t change the past now. All he could do was hope that Adrienne would eventually see his actions in a different light and that she would understand why he had made the choices he did.

He took a deep breath, mustering up the courage to speak.

"I’m sorry, Addie," he whispered, his voice heavy with remorse. "I never meant to let you down by breaking my promise. You were right. It hurt my ego when your father managed to hurt you despite my promise to keep you safe. It was selfish of me to seek revenge on your father to make myself feel better. I understand now that my actions only caused you more pain and pushed you further away. I want you to know that I will do whatever it takes to make things right and earn your trust."

Adrienne remained silent, and Lennox knew words weren’t enough to convince her of his sincerity. She missed him these past few days. Still, she also knew that if Lennox continued doing the same thing, using the excuse of protecting her, he would only continue to damage their relationship further.

She wanted him to understand why she was against him taking revenge on her stead. Adrienne understood his frustration, but she didn’t want him to be so obsessed with her that he would disregard her wishes and boundaries. She wanted him to respect her autonomy and decisions.

Adrienne looked up at him, her eyes filled with sadness and frustration. "But Len, you acted without consulting me. You made a decision that has affected both of us without considering how it would make me feel. You crossed the line."

"I understand your anger and frustration. I can’t promise that I won’t make mistakes in the future, but I can promise that I will do everything I can to make it right and free your father. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to earn back your trust. I’m willing to wait as long as it takes."

Adrienne sighed, her anger dissipating as she saw the sincerity in Lennox’s eyes. "I just wish you had talked to me first. We could have found another way, another plan."

"I know I was wrong. I won’t do it again, Addie. "

Adrienne nodded and allowed Lennox to hug her. She buried her face against his chest, missing the warmth and comfort he always provided. But she needed some time—they both needed time to heal and find themselves again.

"Thank you, Len. I appreciate your honesty, but I want to stay with my mother. She isn’t saying anything, but I can tell she is upset about what is happening in the Jiang family. I just need to be there for her. Camilla and Elise are dead, and my father is missing. She’s worried about how it would affect our family’s future."

Lennox nodded.

"I understand, Addie. Family comes first, always. Take all the time you need with your mother. I’ll be here for you, waiting patiently until you’re ready to return to me." He pressed a gentle kiss against her forehead, hoping his love would be a constant reminder of his commitment to making things right.

"I know you’re doing this because you love me and want what’s best for us. I need space to process everything and figure out where we stand." Adrienne whispered.

"I’ll respect your wishes, Addie. But please remember, no matter what happens or how much time passes, my love for you will always remain steadfast." Lennox replied.

She untangled herself from his embrace and met his gaze. "Just promise me one thing."

"Anything," Lennox replied without hesitation.

"Promise me that you won’t let your anger consume you like it did before. Promise me that we will face these challenges together as a team."

Lennox took a moment to consider her request before answering earnestly, "I promise, Addie. I won’t let my anger cloud my judgment ever again. I’ll find a way to make things right."

With a final glance filled with longing and hope, Adrienne turned and left the venue with Noah and Scarlett. Lennox watched them go, his heart heavy with both regret and determination. He knew that winning back Adrienne’s trust would be a challenging journey—one that required patience, understanding, and sacrifices.

But he also knew that their love was worth fighting for, worth every moment of pain and uncertainty. And he was willing to do whatever it took to make things right between them and heal the wounds he had caused.
