Chapter 61: Isaac and Jaxon are both missing.

Nathaniel arrived at the villa in record time, tension radiating from every step as he marched through the doors. Roberto was already waiting, standing near the living room, phone in hand.

"Sir," he greeted with a quick nod.

Nathaniel returned the nod and dropped onto the sofa, his posture stiff. "What else did you find?"

Roberto stepped forward. "Her last call was from her father. Not long after that, Isaac came to the office. Surveillance picked up part of their interaction. Here—have a look."

He held out his phone and tapped the screen.

Nathaniel leaned in as the video played. Zara was walking out of the office building, her posture immediately shifting when she spotted Isaac outside the gate, waiting for her. Even without sound, the tension between them was obvious. Her arms were crossed, her body stiff, and her expression unreadable but clearly uneasy.

Nathaniel’s eyes sharpened as he saw Zara walking away. The footage showed Isaac fidgeting, then pulling something from his pocket and following her.

Nathaniel snatched the phone from Roberto for a closer look. He rewound the clip and watched again, slower.

The angle wasn’t great—the curve of the road and the building’s shadow made it hard to see the details, but the next part was undeniable.

Isaac was shown dragging Zara’s limp body toward his car.

Nathaniel’s entire body tensed. His hands clenched around the phone.

"Did you catch that?" Roberto pointed at the screen. "He must have hit her or done something to knock her out—look at how limp she is. She didn’t even have time to fight back."

Nathaniel rewound the footage again. He focused on the moment Isaac hesitated, then pulled something from his pocket. He paused the video and zoomed in.

He noticed a syringe in Isaac’s hand.

"So that’s what he used," Nathaniel muttered. "He drugged her. Probably with a sedative."

Roberto leaned in to get a better look. He nodded grimly. "He came prepared. It was preplanned. But... why would a father go this far?"

Nathaniel’s blood boiled.

He remembered all the times Nora had spoken of Isaac—how manipulative and money-hungry that man was. Nora had been strong, unshakable. She never let him control her.

But Zara was different.

She was soft, docile, and quiet. She always gave people the benefit of the doubt, even those who didn’t deserve it. And for years, that softness had made her vulnerable to Isaac’s games, to her stepmother’s venom, to Jaxon’s selfishness.

And now, this—being kidnapped by her own father.

What kind of father would do that to his own daughter? What kind of plan did they have for her now?

"That bastard..." Nathaniel’s heart thundered with rage. "Find out where he took her. I want every resource, every contact, and every lead activated. Now."

Just then, Roberto’s phone buzzed. He snatched it up and answered immediately.

"Did you find him?" he asked with urgency.

Nathaniel watched him closely, catching the subtle shift in Roberto’s expression.

"And then?" Roberto’s voice grew heavier. "Alright. Keep tracking. Call me the second anything new turns up."

He ended the call and turned back toward Nathaniel, his face grim. freeweɓnovel-cøm

"Things just got more complicated," he said. "We got an update. Isaac and Jaxon are both missing from their home. Isaac’s wife claimed they left for some work this morning."

Nathaniel didn’t buy it, the tension in his jaw deepening.

"But here is the real problem," Roberto continued. "The cops aren’t cooperating. Madam Zara called them to report Jaxon’s kidnapping the night before. Well, turns out he was with a friend that night, and the cops confirmed he got dropped off at home later. They were furious. They think Madam filed a false report. Now they are refusing to take anything seriously."

Nathaniel’s glare darkened, disbelief flashing across his face.

"They think it was all a prank. That’s why they are brushing it off. The officer even warned Madam not to file any more ’fake complaints.’"

A heavy silence fell after that.

Nathaniel exhaled through gritted teeth, fury burning behind his eyes. "Isaac is pulling this stunt to dodge transferring the shares to me. He thinks he can hold her hostage and bend me into a deal. But he’s made the biggest mistake of his life."

His hands clenched into fists, his voice turning cold, almost deadly.

"They think they can challenge me? I’ll tear everything down to bring her back."

He stood, every inch of him radiating focused rage.

"I’m certain a ransom call is coming. Get the team ready—we are going to bring Zara home."

Roberto nodded. "Already on standby, sir."

Zara stirred, her eyelids fluttering open with a groggy, painful haze clouding her vision. Her head throbbed, and the sting along her jaw was excruciating. The pain was unbearable, constant, radiating from the repeated blows she had endured.

Her face felt hot and swollen, her lips split and bleeding. That bitter taste of blood lingered on her tongue.

Disoriented and weak, her eyes darted around, only to land on the man again. He was standing nearby, watching her with a smug grin plastered across his face.

Panic surged in her chest like a tidal wave.

Zara flinched, instinctively recoiling. Her wrists twisted violently in desperation, but the ropes had already dug deep into her skin, leaving raw, bleeding gashes. Every movement sent a fresh wave of pain shooting up her arms.

She tried to speak, but her jaw protested in agony. Her lips barely parted. A soft, broken sob escaped her instead, tears spilling down her bruised cheeks.

The man chuckled darkly and stepped closer. "You look pathetic," he sneered. "Exactly the kind of image that’ll make your rich husband panic."

He held up his phone, waving it in front of her face mockingly. "Let’s see what happens when he sees his wife like this."

Zara could only watch in horror as he tapped the screen and made the call.

Across town, Nathaniel sat tensely, watching the screen of his phone light up with an unknown number. His gut clenched. He looked at Roberto, who was already preparing the tracker.

Roberto nodded and gave a thumbs-up. Nathaniel answered the call.

"Hello?"

The man’s voice came through, his tone brimming with arrogance. "Your wife is with me. If you want her alive, bring twenty million. I’ll send the location. You have one hour. No delays, no cops—just the money. Or you’ll never see her again."

Nathaniel’s face went still, ice settling over his expression.

Nathaniel knew Isaac had kidnapped Zara to force him to pay money, to resolve his company’s issues, so he could avoid surrendering the shares to him. But he wouldn’t let him succeed in his plan.

"What money?" he muttered. "Is this some kind of joke or something? Seems like you are very free. But I am not. I don’t have time for all this. Put the damn phone down or I’ll call the cops."
