Regression - Second Chance At Life-Chapter 29: The Real Cassie

Adam watches as Cassie shifts around on her chair nervously beside him. At first glance, he can tell that Cassie is a shy girl, but what Adam is interested in is what’s behind this shyness of hers.

Because Adam believes it’s not all so simple.

The very first time he laid his eyes on her, Cassie was wearing a very revealing dress, a sun dress that covered only the lower half of her breasts, while also being only long enough to cover parts just a few centimeters below her ass.

A girl who is naturally shy in nature would never wear something like this, and even if someone like this decides to wear something revealing, it would not be as revealing as the sun dress she was wearing.

Of course, Adam is just speculating, and that is why he wants to know if all of this is just an act or if she really is innocent, naïve, and shy.

"So, how long have you been working here for?" Adam asks.

"Mnnn, not long. It’s been about a month," Cassie answers as she sneak peeks at Adam while also averting her gaze.

Adam smiles. He continues to ask simple questions that are not too forward in nature to help Cassie relax into the conversation, which starts to show results.

After a few minutes, Cassie looks less nervous and is speaking with much longer sentences while also keeping eye contact with Adam.

Just like Adam expected, the act is breaking, and Adam can see through the cracks. Cassie is hiding her confident self behind this shy, innocent girl act.

Adam knows these types of girls, the ones who pretend to be shy and innocent and act cute before guys they are interested in, because most guys like when girls are soft and submissive in nature.

Is this her true nature? It is still hard to tell as Cassie continues to act shy and innocent, but Adam suspects there is more to Cassie. A beautiful girl like her, blessed with incredible assets, who walks around fully exposing themselves, is definitely very self-aware about their looks, and this gives them a huge confidence boost.

But whether they want to display that confidence or hide it depends entirely on their character.

While Adam does find cracks in her behavior, Adam gives her the benefit of the doubt. He will be working with Cassie for a while, so he will have a lot of time on his hands to see through Cassie.

An hour flies by in an instant as Cassie starts getting more chatty with Adam.

During this past hour, the restaurant has been visited by a few customers who are just here for a cup of morning coffee. Adam took a few minutes out of his time and would serve them before going back to talking with Cassie.

Under his charismatic influence, the act of the innocent, shy girl completely fades away, and right now, she is swooning all over Adam.

Adam didn’t expect his charm to be so great that it would completely shatter the facade that Cassie had on in the beginning.

But during this conversation, he also noticed that Cassie didn’t put on that facade intentionally. It’s a force of habit. She must be doing this from a very young age, as children adapt to behavior, depending on how the world reacts to them.

Cassie puts on his shy, innocent act out of habit every time she meets someone new whom she wants to build a good relationship with, and it works wonderfully every time.

Her true character only comes out when she is completely comfortable with that person.

Adam’s charm and his handsomeness were too lethal for Cassie’s defence, so her act faded away without her even noticing.

The innocent, shy girl that she portrays has disappeared, and is replaced with someone who has a much brighter personality. Cassie is a confident girl who knows she is beautiful, and that also makes her a little arrogant. Though she doesn’t display her arrogance blatantly before Adam, as his position in her eyes is much higher, she would rub it on someone else she doesn’t consider equal and pass it off as if nothing happened.

The reason Adam was able to deduce this was because of how Cassie acted with some of the customers who walked through the door. If a customer looked well-groomed and had some decent clothes, Cassie would be respectful and polite towards them, but if the customer was a little shabby, she would still maintain her behavior, but she wouldn’t go out of her way to be polite with them, even passing subtle jabs if someone got on her nerves.

Adam quickly picked this up and began to put the pieces together.

Cassie respects someone with status, but she doesn’t go out of her way to make people whom she thinks less of feel bad; she just tones down her respectful attitude, which most people don’t notice.

But Adam did. He has been a people watcher, a trait he picked up when he was very young. Since he was the quite introverted kid, he always watched and never interacted with others.

He knows how to read people.

Cassie is just another personality he is very familiar with. There is nothing inherently wrong with people like Cassie, as it’s a way of survival, but would a person like Cassie be someone Adam would trust? No, because at the end of the day, these types of people will only look out for themselves if push comes to shove.

Since Cassie has clearly shown interest in him, Adam won’t back down, but it would never be anything serious between them.

Adam and Cassie continue to talk, getting closer to each other, and only serve a few odd customers as they walk in.

Cassie starts getting a little more touchy with Adam, laughing at his every joke, slightly touching his arms, and combing her hair to the back of her ear.

She is clearly throwing every signal possible at Adam to make a move, but Adam is not going to fold in so easily. He is going to make her work for it and test her patience. Is there more to her, or is this it?

Adam meets two more staff, both cooks, who work at the back of the kitchen alongside Ellie. He also learns about one more server who comes to work during the evening hours. Adam looks forward to meeting her.

The restaurant starts to get busy as more customers start walking in. Adam takes the lead and guides the customers to their table while Cassie follows his lead.

With Adam in front of the house and interacting with the patrons, the atmosphere gets very lively, while Adam gets a lot of attention from the female patrons.

Seeing a handsome, tall, young man, dressed to perfection and looking like a model is stirring up fantasies inside these women’s heads as Adam’s charismatic smile radiates positivity.

As the guests pile up, Adam starts getting busy, walking back and forth from the front of the house to the back, relaying orders to the cooking staff and bringing them back to the customers.

Once customers are done eating, they leave a nice tip for Adam for his excellent service. The same couldn’t be said for Cassie, as she makes some mistakes here and there, but with Adam taking the lead, she made a lot fewer mistakes than she usually does.

The restaurant stays busy until 2 pm, before customers’ arrival slows down.

At 2:30 pm, Ellie gets out of the kitchen and closes the restaurant so that the staff can take a break and have their lunch.

Working at a restaurant has some benefits. They can eat in-house, and Ellie doesn’t charge them for it.

Joined by Cassie at lunch, Adam is surprised by how delicious the food really is. Though it’s not plated artfully as they are not customers, the taste is still there.

’No wonder this restaurant goes on to become a sensation throughout the country,’ Adam thinks as he finishes his lunch.

After finishing his lunch, Adam leaves. Since the next shift won’t be until 6 pm, he has a lot of time to kill.

Cassie, too, leaves, saying she has something to do. Adam doesn’t bother trying to pry into her private life, as he has his own to deal with.

The next service will start around 6 pm, so he has some time for himself.

Adam walks up to his car, gets in, and drives away.

He drives around the city, looking for something. Now that he has a second chance to make his life better, he decided that he needs something to improve on what he has been gifted with.

Adam is looking for an MMA gym. With a body that has overwhelming power, endurance, and speed, he doesn’t need a normal gym. He needs something better, and what’s better than learning how to defend himself? To use all his newfound physical enhancement in ways beyond just simple movement.

Adam searches for some credible MMA gyms on the internet and finds one that is close to the restaurant.

Turning on the direction on his GPS, he drives there.

After a few minutes, he drives into a big alley and finds the gym in question. From the outside, it looks legit, as it has the gym’s name and posters of fighters right outside its gate.

He finds a parking lot to park in before approaching the gym.

Adam pushes open the door and walks in, and finds the gym empty. He looks around and finds the gym in decent shape with good equipment.

Now he just needs to find the owner of the gym.
