Reincarnated as a Divine Tree-Chapter 139Vol. 1 - - Tracking
From the moment they entered the city, sold the Blood Rice, and purchased supplies, Xie Hongyuan had been aware of every detail.
She knew that Chen Tianjing and his group had bought horses and some iron tools from her clan's shop. This confirmed her suspicions—this Chen clan was nothing more than a small, insignificant clan.
As for Chaotic Burial Mountain, it was likely some obscure, remote hill. Otherwise, their need for such basic supplies wouldn't make sense.
But what puzzled her was how a clan that didn't even raise horses or possess iron tools could have a totem.
Could it be that they had simply picked some random object to worship and called it their clan totem?
Then there were the other items they purchased. The Bodhi Fruit and the Purple Ganoderma were understandable, as they were useful for martial artists in the Body Tempering and Blood Coagulation realms.
But the Tian Nan Star—this was only beneficial to an Innate Realm martial artist.
So, the Chen clan must have an Innate Realm martial artist.
A clan raising an Innate Realm cultivator wasn’t unheard of, but what stood out was Chen Tianjing’s extravagant spending. He had burned through nearly all the jade coins from selling the Blood Rice.

This suggested that the Chen clan likely had a large stockpile of Blood Rice and that what they had sold was merely a fraction of it. That explained why they were so unconcerned about spending money.
Understanding this, a sharp glint appeared in Xie Hongyuan’s eyes. If this was true, her clan couldn’t afford to sit idly by.
Blood Rice was immensely valuable to the clan.
However, before deciding on their next move, they needed more details. The scouts sent to follow the Chen clan would report back soon.
Her only concern was that the other three major clans had likely come to the same conclusion and sent their own spies as well.
Frowning slightly, she murmured to herself, “No, I have to report this to the clan first before the other three clans beat us to it.”
…
"Very well, you did the right thing."
"I've already sent your third uncle to track them."
In the Shi clan, a stern-looking man nodded in satisfaction upon hearing Shi Jian’s report.
In his hand was the Blood Rice Shi Jian had just purchased.
Shi Jian smiled at the clan leader’s approval.
His own cultivation wasn’t particularly strong, nor did he have many subordinates. Handling this matter alone would have been too difficult, so reporting it to the clan had been the best course of action. If the clan profited from it, he would be the one to take the credit.
Hearing that the clan leader had sent his third uncle, Shi Jian's expression turned more serious. It was clear the clan placed great importance on this matter—his third uncle was an Innate Realm martial artist.
"Clan leader, can Blood Rice be cultivated?" Gazing at the Blood Rice in his hand, Shi Jian suddenly asked.
If they could cultivate it themselves, it would be an enormous achievement.
The man picked up a grain of Blood Rice and shook his head slightly.
"This rice is, at its core, just ordinary grain. It mutated into Blood Rice due to the unique conditions of the land where it was grown. It cannot be cultivated elsewhere.
"If my guess is correct, the Chen clan must possess a piece of Heavenly Treasure Land. That land is the key to growing Blood Rice."
Shi Jian’s eyes lit up. Heavenly Treasure Land! That was something truly rare.
After all, wasn’t it because of their own treasure land that the Shi clan had risen to its current strength?
Even now, their clan's Bodhi trees continued to benefit the clan. Though their totem provided additional aid, it only reinforced the undeniable importance of such land.
Unfortunately, his clan wasn’t the only one to realize this. The other three great clans had likely taken action as well.
Yong’an City, which had been relatively peaceful, was now stirring with hidden currents.
…
"Qingmeng, are you hungry?"
In the streets of Yong’an City, two young boys stopped in their tracks, their mouths watering at the enticing aroma wafting from a nearby restaurant.
Beside him, Chen Qingmeng held a rough piece of rice paper, a wolf-hair brush in hand, carefully recording something.
Hearing Chen Qinghe’s lamenting voice, he paused, looked toward a nearby food stall, and licked his lips.
"But we already ate everything we brought when we entered the city."
Chen Qinghe sighed helplessly.
He had packed plenty of food before they left, but he hadn’t expected them to run through it so quickly. Now, both of their stomachs were growling.
"Qingmeng, stop writing for now. Let’s go find something to eat first."
Chen Qingmeng shook his head.
"No, Grandpa said we have to do something useful while we’re out. That way, we can give a proper report when we return."
Chen Qinghe didn’t argue further. At least if they worked, they might get scolded less when they got back.
"Qingmeng, how about we go find my father and the others? I don’t think I can hold on much longer!"
"Alright!"
With no better idea, they quickly agreed and headed toward where Chen Tianjing and the others had been staying.
Earlier, when they had entered the city, they had secretly tailed the group to pinpoint the Blood Rice's selling location. Only after confirming it did they leave—specifically for moments like this.
"They must still be selling! We can help them!"
They knew they might be scolded, but hunger outweighed that concern.
…
Before long, the two arrived at the stall where Chen Tianjing and the others had been.
But when they got there, they found it completely empty. There wasn’t a single familiar face in sight.
Chen Qinghe’s eyes widened in shock as he exclaimed, “Where’s my father?”
"Qingmeng, my dad is gone!"
Chen Qingmeng scratched his head.
"Maybe they already went back? Should we head back too?"
Chen Qinghe frowned. If his father hadn’t returned yet, finding him in such a large city would be difficult.
After considering for a moment, he sighed.
"We definitely have to go back, but let’s find something to eat first. Otherwise, we’ll starve before we even get halfway."
…
Night fell.
By the side of a narrow road, Chen Tianjing and his group set up camp. Their journey from the clan estate to Yong’an City had taken ten days.
Even though they no longer carried Blood Rice and other goods, their new purchases still weighed them down. The return trip would take at least seven days.
As for why they weren’t riding their horses, Chen Tianjing had his reasons.
Unbeknownst to them, a man in black crouched silently atop a distant tree. His long hair draped over his shoulders, his bangs covered his forehead, and only a pair of deep, sharp eyes remained visible.
He had been watching their every move. Seeing them halt for the night, he frowned but made no other move. Instead, he leaned against the branch, prepared to pass the night in silence.
But just as he closed his eyes to rest, they suddenly snapped open.
His gaze flickered toward another nearby tree. There, another figure lurked among the branches. At the same time, as if sensing his gaze, the other person turned to look at him.
Their eyes met in the darkness. Both frowned slightly.
