Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 316: Familiar Hyena
Seeing the grey wolf being torn apart while she was still alive, Ruda didn’t stand by. Purple electricity coursed over her body fur as she burst out of the cover of tall grass.
The grass was doing little to hide her striking purple form. With her current height of more than five feet tall, she was very noticeable in this kind of place.
The hyenas laughed with joy as they tortured the poor wolf. One of them suddenly lunged for the tail and bit it hard. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The grey wolf turned around instinctively to defend itself but another hyena used the opening to pounce on its neck.
These were spotted hyenas, they were generally around the same size as wolves or slightly bigger and they tended to weigh more.
The wolf was immediately incapacitated as the hyena threw its weight on her and sank its fangs into her neck. Hyenas had one of the strongest bite forces ever, a large piece of flesh was immediately ripped out of the wolf’s neck.
At the same time, the fluffy tail that was just hanging by a thin strand of flesh was torn away from the base by the other hyena. The laughing beasts were about to finish the job when a flash of purple appeared at the corner of her eyes.
*BAM!*
Ruda rammed into one of the hyenas, using her momentum to immediately crush many bones in its body. The sound of ribs cracking and faint whispers were heard.
Before the other hyenas could react, Ruda moved again. She opened her mouth wide and bit the snout of one of the hyenas. Her paws swung through the air, electricity-coated claws ripping through the neck of another hyena.
A cracking sound reverberated in her mouth as the Hyena’s muzzle she was biting on broke apart. She spat out the blood pieces of jaw bones and teeth before moving to the last two hyenas.
She moved like the storm wind, tearing through them with speed and ferocity.
Within four seconds, it was all over. Five hyenas lay on the dirt ground in a pool of their own blood.
Ruda had not even used any special ability apart from slightly enhancing her agility. The gap in strength was too much.
Ruda’s pink eyes stared at the fallen wolf amidst the fallen hyenas. The wolf was dead, it had died after the last hyena ripped away its throat.
She didn’t feel any sadness, just acknowledgement that one of their own had been lost.
Diane, Zabita, and Eidel had arrived to see Ruda end the enemies.
"There’s more," Diane said, narrowing her eyes and sniffing the air. She ignored the scent of blood coming from the five dead hyenas and focused on the other scents that lingered in the air.
Pieces of metal revolved around Zabita as she walked forward, following the scent.
Then, more eagle cries, wolf howls, and hyena laughters echoed in the dark of the night.
The moon wasn’t as bright as yesterday’s as it was mostly covered by clouds. Still, the average creature from the horde was blessed with natural night vision, and they had no problem navigating their way through the grassy plains.
The number of hyenas present at the moment was unknown and Kael didn’t care.
Another massacre began. Different hyena squads around the edges of the super mega herd were caught up in ambushes that almost always meant certain death.
Wolves and goats working together? Bears and foxes hunting together? Most of the hyenas had not even seen a bear before but the goats working with the wolves were really surprising.
But although the hyenas were being ambushed, they were quick to react. They were also wild beasts with tears of experience in the hunting fields.
Their laughter spread from one corner to the other, alerting all their pack members.
It soon became clear that there were a LOT of hyenas here. It was like a gathering of different packs.
There had to be more than five hundred of them in total. All of them had come to hunt at the edges of the Super Mega Herd.
Thankfully, they were spread out and could not gather immediately to help themselves out. Kael’s beastly horde had the upper hand in overwhelming numbers and power level.
The birds in the sky provided the beastly horde with strategic support that couldn’t be ignored. They communicate telepathically with their allies, giving them information on the locations of the hyenas.
And when it seemed like the hyenas were about to gang up on one or two wolves or foxes, they would swoop down to distract the hyenas, allowing their campaign comrades to escape.
Among the hyenas, some of them were very strong and some of them were equivalent to tier 3 lions.
One of these hyenas was spotted by Kael as he majestically walked through the grassy plains, observing the chaos happening everywhere.
He was too big for the grass to hide in the grass and he wasn’t thinking of being stealthy at that.
His golden body was too eye-catching and he would have to depend on spatial camouflage to be able to hide his presence.
As his massive frame moved through the ’tall’ grass, a familiar scent entered his nose.
His nostrils expanded and collapsed, taking in that familiar scent. Kael’s memories were jolted as he remembered where he had perceived that scent from before.
This wasn’t the first time he was perceiving this particular scent, yes, he remembered, when he was a cub...
There had been a hyena attack when the Hot Lion Pride branched a river. Kael had been a little defenseless cub back then and almost died if not for his Nalii and his father stepping in to save the surviving cubs.
Kael had witnessed the battle the Pride Leader had with the leader of that particular clan. He remembered her and the scar the Pride Leader had left on her face.
She was the first metal-user Kael had ever seen, having metal claws and teeth.
Kael had not actually tried to keep her scent for remembrance, he wasn’t even planning on having any form of vengeance at that time.
However, the scent he was currently perceiving jolted his memories. This was the same scent, he knew it.
Suddenly, Kael’s large golden lion head snapped in a certain direction. He stretched out his paw just in time to block a large hyena that had pounced on him.
In that fragment of a second, Kael leaned forward slightly, using the inertia to blast the hyena backward. He didn’t need to check, he had felt the bones on that hyena shatter the moment he touched him.
After that happened, the space around him seemed to become firmer. Katari had drawn near.
Kael then turned around, turning his attention to the particular scent he was perceiving. He continued walking, following the scent.
Finally, he came up on a clearing where a battle was currently going on. Six female hyenas were battling it out with Diane, Ruda, Eidel, and Diane.
All six of these females were equivalent to a tier 3 lion, each with unique powers. Three were War Hyenas, one was a Fire Hyena with red spots instead of black, and the last two were Metal Hyenas.
Out of the two Metal Hyenas, Kael recognized one of them by the scar on her face. He remembered it very well and it seemed the lionesses also remembered her.
Back then, the Pride Leader had used his searing hot claws to injure her face. The scar was still there now, adding a layer of ferocity and savageness to her aura.
And it seemed she had gotten stronger ever since then. She was now comparable to a tier 3 lion which was very strong for the average creature on Eridoria.
She had come a long way.
Kael’s glance coldly shifted from the familiar hyena to the other female hyenas fighting in this group. These were the leaders of those hyena packs, he could smell their authority from where he stood.
The second metal hyena that was in this group bore a very striking resemblance to the other one although she looked younger. Kael guessed that they were a mother and daughter pair.
Although these were not all the hyena leaders around, they were enough. They could start from here.
Kael didn’t have any personal grudges against the hyena race, but he was aware of their lasting feud and was not ignorant about it. If he made a hyena caste, they were more likely to rebel against the whole kingdom than any other caste.
They were the opposite of the wolves, not necessarily going to be loyal, especially not to a lion.
However, Kael had some ideas for them and how they could be put to use. Since they were so unstable, he would capitalize on it and extract all the benefits he could get as ruthlessly as possible.
Kael quickly identified three hyenas, including the familiar one, and gave an order to his lionesses, "Kill the rest,"
