Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 318: The Power Of Death
Far away from the Super Mega Herd.
Marcus sped through the air with every flap of his pair of big black wings.
The night wind harmlessly slashed through his inky black feathers. Behind him, two streams of smoke trailed him, having come from his two wings.
Some distance in front of him, a flaming bird flew fast, flapping its ignited wings frantically to escape Marcus.
Not too far from them, a very tall tree stood in the fields of the wild plains, like a pillar of heaven.
The three was thick and the height couldn’t be immediately measured. The highest point of the tree was about a hundred meters from reaching the clouds.
This kind of tree was incredibly rare in the whole wild plains and was usually inhabited by powerful creatures.
Marcus could see the distant tiny figures flying about from his position. His eyes narrowed, the white rings in his eyes shining brightly with a crazy amount of tyrannical intent.
"Marcus! Please, I didn’t do anything!" The fiery vulture screamed as he felt the deathly aura getting closer to him.
Marcus could have caught up to him a long time ago but kept the pursuit in motion.
Beneath them, on the earth far below, more than thirty herbivores ran tirelessly through the grassy fields, moving in the same direction as Marcus, the big tree.
The trail of black smoke behind Marcus elongated as he suddenly increased his flying speed. The fiery vulture ahead of him panicked as he felt the air screech from being torn apart.
The deathly aura was rapidly getting closer and closer. He felt that he wouldn’t be able to reach the safety of the big tree on time.
Making a last-minute decision, the fiery vulture turned around mid-air, facing the incoming Primordial with the will to survive.
Flames erupted from his body and he let out a clear cry of unwillingness. The cry alerted the vultures perched on the numerous branches of the big tree.
They all turned toward the source of the cry at the same time to see an expanding plume of flame in the sky, illuminating the darkness and acting like a mini sun.
However, before anyone could assess what was happening, the flames were snuffed out by a terrifying mass of black smoke. The smoke was so dark that even the dark night couldn’t hide from their view.
All the expanding flames retracted and were sucked into the nose and eyes of the massive pale-headed, black bird.
"MARCUS!" A loud telepathic wave surged from the tree in the form of an ancient voice.
"Elder, I have come to take your place!" Marcus didn’t mince his words, he declared his intentions as soon as he could. His telepathic words entered the minds of all the vultures present, stunning them on the spot.
’What had come over Marcus?’ This was what went through most of the vulture’s minds. This was unlike Marcus.
Marcus had been very powerful and intimidating, yes, but he wasn’t like this. He was cold, reserved, and somewhat introverted when left alone. If no one bothered him, he would usually leave everyone alone.
Although there were times he mingled with the rest, that was just a way to seek validation on Marcus’s part, a way to feel like he belonged to the flock.
Marcus’s declaration definitely stunned everyone but the receiver of his words didn’t seem that surprised.
"Marcus! You have finally shown your true colors! I should have known, you hid well!" Four vultures flew out of the shade of the tree under the gaze of Marcus and his other kinsmen.
"You think because you are special that you can just act wantonly? What is this insolence?" One of the four Elder Vultures asked with disdain and anger written all over his face.
"It’s high time we taught you to know your place!" Another one said arrogantly.
"SHUT UP!" Marcus bellowed with royal rage, releasing a wave of Death Essence that swept down at the elders and the tree behind them.
The Elder Vulture’s eyes widened with shock. They had never seen this type of power from Marcus before.
They hurriedly flapped their wings and used their various powers to try to get out of the way. Unfortunately, only two of the elders were able to get out of the way in time.
The other two elders were hit by the wave of Death Essence and watched their life force draining before their eyes. Their feathers fell off and their wings became weak and fragile.
They were already dead before they had started falling. Two streams of Death Essence flowed out of their body and entered Marcus’s mouth. It seemed that he was being empowered with every death that occurred close to him.
In the eyes of the remaining two elders, Marcus had gone crazy. He was displaying a level of power that they had never seen before.
Previously, when they had guided him with the purpose of using him as a living weapon, they had tested a bit of the power on themselves.
They had concluded that unless they absolutely did not have the power to resist, as long as they had sufficient power, they would be able to mitigate the effects of being exposed to this mysterious Death Essence.
They had never imagined that Marcus had been growing so fast that he was already so strong. Marcus barely used his powers and when he used them, it was for simple things like killing some creatures that were too hard to handle for other vultures.
Yet here Marcus was, killing everything his Death Essence touched.
"Marcus! Have you gone mad?" One of the elders asked with rage and fear mixed in his tone. The other elder looked at him like he was looking at a suicidal maniac, couldn’t he see that Marcus was not in his right mind? Why was he still insulting him?
Marcus didn’t even give an answer, he moved like the dark light, flashing through the sky, looking like the angel of death.
The head of the Elder Vulture that just spoke flew off his shoulders. He had not even seen what killed him. All he saw was a brief cover of darkness before everything swiftly lost meaning and he died.
His body plummeted to the ground, leaving behind a flutter of black feathers.
The last elder saw this and didn’t think twice before flying away. He would be stupid if he still tried to stay and fight.
"Marcus, I didn’t do anything to offend you, I didn’t treat you badly..." The last elder lamented as he continued to fly away. He wished he could have four more wings so that he would be able to fly faster.
Marcus’s killing intent didn’t diminish when he heard what the last elder said, "None of you did anything wrong, you were just trying to survive.
You used me, and tried to make me feel bad for not being like you.
I’m taking over now, and I’m leading with my vision in mind. That means you have to go..."
Marcus waved his wing at the fleeing elder, shooting out three black and sharp feathers covered in smoky dark essence.
*TISCH TISCH TISCH*
Three piercing sounds were heard as the three feathers ruthlessly penetrated the back of the fleeing elder. The sharp feathers carried so much force that they pushed the elder further ahead until his body slammed into the side of the tree.
The three feathers traveled shortly through his dead body, nailing him firmly to the wood.
The branches shook slightly from the impact force, causing many vultures to fly away from the tree.
This big tree was the home to many vultures and had many nests on it. Although the vultures flew away from the branches, they didn’t move too far.
There were more than five hundred of them and more than four hundred had already awakened their hearts.
Marcus’s presence had been instrumental in growing this society to where it was now in such a short amount of time.
It was now that most of the vultures could see the dozens of land creatures running toward the tree.
On a closer look, all these creatures were giving off the aura of death and decay, these were clearly undead creatures also the perfect delicacies for the vultures.
But now, they weren’t in the mood for food. They could see that those undead creatures were coming in with a shit load of death essence stored within their bodies.
And they moved fast.
Within a short moment, they had already arrived at the thick and wide base of the tree.
*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!...*
One after the other, the undead creatures slammed their grotesque bodies into the trees. Their bodies broke down and collapsed, releasing all the death essence within them into the trees.
The vultures watched in horror as death essence began to creep up the tree, transforming it into something maleficent.
Seeing this, a trace of satisfaction appeared in Marcus’s eyes, he turned his gaze to the flabbergasted and horrified vultures in the air and said to them.
"It’s time to pledge allegiance to me, make it quick."
