Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 719: Primordial Monkey
Hearing N'bayé, Kael's eyes settled on the face of the little creature inside the baby pod.
Lying on its back was a small baby monkey with a tiny head and a compact body. Its eyes looked around with curiosity as it kept its limbs to itself.
Its fur, which was still sparse and thin, was a soft, dark grey, and it would probably darken with time.
There was no blanket to cover it, no toys to entertain it. The world on its own was more fascinating to it than any toy could ever be.
When Kael leaned forward to look into the baby pod, the eyes of the baby monkey shifted.
It noticed Kael, the blue eyes stared into the golden ones above it and for a few seconds, the baby monkey was frozen.
With its mind still fragile and new, it had this sudden feeling that Kael was the most mysterious thing in the world. It didn't know what a world was, nor did it understand the concept of being mysterious, not yet at least.
But it knew instinctively that Kael was just…not normal.
The monkey tail curled around its waist and Kael could see that it was a male.
Then, Kael blinked his eyes.
This blink caused the monkey to react curiously. It had been looking intently into Kael's eyes innocently, as if it was looking for something within those beautiful irises.
The blink distracted him and in return, he blinked as well.
The little monkey didn't know better. It didn't know that one must resist the temptation to look into the eyes of a king, no matter how beautiful those eyes were.
Kael leaned away. He didn't have any urge to hurt the baby monkey just because it was looking into his eyes. He was beyond that now.
At his core, Kael was still a lion and he would forever be a lion. That meant that the basic instincts and baseline behaviours of a lion were always going to be with him.
However, it didn't mean that he would be a slave to it like others.
He acknowledged it, yes, but that was all.
"When was he born?" Kael asked.
N'bayé's ears twitched and she resisted the urge to sit down next to Kael. His voice was so deep, majestic, and comforting.
It made one want to just lay down all their vulnerabilities before the All-King.
"A few hours ago.
I didn't know he was born until I noticed the commotion as well as the unnatural behaviours of the monkeys."
N'bayé said honestly.
At the same time, Kael took in a deep breath, sniffing in the Flow of Time, just like how Memphis did.
It was a technique he had learned pretty fast actually.
Kael sniffed out all the events that had happened in the past twenty-four hours inside the arkship and watched it all play in his head.
N'bayé was telling the truth, and she wasn't done.
"Was there trouble?" Kael asked as he looked at the baby monkey again. A bit of his spirit energy flowed out of his mind and invaded the mind of the little monkey.
N'bayé nodded, "The mother and patriarch of his clan had been really defensive.
They were not dumb after all, they knew the uniqueness of their child even though they didn't actually know what he was.
The mother herself was fiercely protective and didn't want me to get close." She said, reminiscing about the little trouble that had sprouted when she had tried to take the little Primordial Monkey from his clan.
"Hmm," Kael wore no emotions on his face.
His mind synchronized with the mind of the baby monkey and he was able to see what it was thinking about.
Kael didn't notice much, it was just as he expected. The little monkey was exceedingly smart for something that was born just a few hours ago.
He had a photographic memory and could remember everything that had occurred down to the moment he was in his mother's womb.
"I trust you dealt with it, I don't want unnecessary variables," Kael said.
N'bayé nodded, "I killed the mother personally. All signs of resistance have been eliminated.
There is no one to stand in your way, Your Majesty,"
Such powerful words. It was casual, and didn't actually move Kael. But N'bayé realised just how far she had gone in doing many things to serve Kael.
Between the two of them, who was the manipulator?
Kael didn't even ask her to do some of these things. She just did it because she felt that was what was right or what the All-King would want.
She didn't care about her actions in any moral way, she just acknowledged that she was now mostly doing a lot for Kael instead of herself.
Even without him asking.
And she was fine with it.
"Okay," Kael responded with a satisfied nod.
Kael gently activated his spirit energy within the mind of the baby monkey. All the memories relating to the slaughter of his family and monkey tribe were wiped out.
Everything was removed and in its place was a simple golden figure and a gentle voice that soothed its nerves.
This was just like how he had done with Ivana. Except that Ivana did not have photographic memory at the moment of her birth and Kael did not have any reason to wipe her memories.
This baby monkey was different. For now, he may not understand the meaning of those memories. But as time passed, as he grew, and as he became more emotional, those memories could prove disastrous.
By removing those memories early, Kael had ruthlessly prevented another possible Ibadon from rising.
Now, apart from N'bayé and Kael, no one else knew the true history of the Primordial Monkey. And no one would probably ever know.
A simple Primordial Contract appeared in front of the baby monkey who was unaware of what had happened.
It couldn't remember anything anymore and all that it knew now was the golden contract floating in front of its face.
To the Primordial Monkey, this contract would be the first thing it ever saw upon being born.
"We haven't decided a name for it yet…" N'bayé added at this time.
