Chapter 722: Chapter 722: No Will

Leonine Heaven.

It had been almost a day since the invasion started.

The arkships of the dragons and lions formed two opposing rivers that clashed, creating waves of sparks and fiery explosions.

Different locations, different battles.

A lot of pyramids had been taken over by the invading dragons and a few more had been destroyed.

It was clear after the first wave that the dragons were not invading Leonine Heaven to occupy some territory, they were invading so that they could exterminate.

This was one of the most brutal battles the two races were facing.

This war wasn’t a war for resources, it wasn’t a fight for territory, it wasn’t a declaration of independence.

It wasn’t even because of love, at least, not anymore.

It was because of hate.

Pure, raw, unfiltered, undiluted, Hate.

It was either that they hated themselves, their superiors, or their enemies. It didn’t matter because this war was still fueled by hate regardless.

They just wanted to exterminate each other.

The dragons wanted to kill as many lions as possible and the lions wanted to do the same to the dragons.

Neither side will stop until a higher power intervenes.

Unfortunately, the higher power behind the dragons was all in for the Annihilation of the lion race.

Those dragon officials who had very little Conquering Essence remaining used theirs or they had passed it over to their superior.

It didn’t matter that using the reversed Conquering Essence could harm them, they had to follow orders.

In the west coverage, everywhere one looked, they could see explosions happening all around them.

It was bad.

Very bad.

If not that Leonine Heaven was extremely large and each coverage was the size of some super large galaxies, then the area would look more brutal.

Just then, the dragons who had been fighting with reluctance and hate a few moments ago felt something.

Their arkships stalled, and the ground troops on different floating continents paused as they looked around with confusion written all over their faces.

What was this strange feeling of emptiness that they felt? Many of them couldn’t quite understand it.

The emptiness felt normal, but it also felt very wrong.

Those dragon officials who have been alive for more than a thousand years knew this feeling very well. In fact, they were used to it and had been expecting this feeling to come at some point.

The Dragon Empress, Elizabeth, was born about a thousand years ago. Before then, this feeling of emptiness was the norm.

It was only after she was born and the dragons got access to Destruction Essence that they finally knew what it felt like to be complete.

Now, they once again felt what it was like to not be complete, to live in a world without their Primordial.

They knew what this meant.

They had had a glimmer of hope that this day would never come. But they also knew the All-King would not spare his enemies at all.

Elizabeth was dead.

The Primordial Dragon, the Empress that had grown with so much potential for close to a thousand years was gone.

*ROAAAAAR!!!*

Deep archaic roars resounded across the heavens and the flashing heavenly gates.

How sad.

How disappointing.

The morale of all the dragons instantly took a massive hit.

On a particularly wide floating continent that had just been cleaved into two parts by an enormous claw strike, one dragon official, clad in pure white scales and having bright golden eyes roared to the golden sky.

Behind him, the winged wyverns and land drakes roared with him. It was apparent that their moods were not all too good.

They had just succeeded in destroying a pyramid and killing the lion king as well as some princes that had been occupying it.

But the joy they should have gotten from this minor victory was gone like smoke in the wind the moment they comprehended the meaning of that empty feeling.

Their Primordial was dead.

What was the point of this war?

Why were they still fighting?

What were they fighting for?

The pristine white dragon turned his golden eyes to the sky where a fireball was heading straight for him.

This dragon official was a Celestial dragon, rare in both quality and mindset. He assessed the power level of the approaching fireball.

A furious lion king, Fire Lionheart type, tier 6. Behind him were consorts, princes, and magic shuttles. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

The celestial dragon official sighed, he suddenly didn’t have any will to keep on fighting.

He flapped his large translucent wings and turned into a beam of light that sped off into the distance. He abandoned the drakes and wyvern, leaving them at the mercy of the incoming lion king.

Shortly after the celestial dragon left, the fireball which was just a furious fire lion slammed into one half of the split continent.

With a shocking explosion, everything, including the wyverns and drakes, was thoroughly destroyed.

This was a common scene happening everywhere in the areas the dragons were invading from.

Dragon officials and dragon soldiers are losing their morale and flying away on their own or in their arkships.

This created a rift in the Dragon ranks. Some dragons still wanted to fight. They even saw the death of Elizabeth as a valid reason to continue fighting.

And the rest just lost the desire.

They wanted to go home.

They still had a heaven to defend from their wormy cousins.

Alas...

From the western coverage, the very location from which most of the rogue heavenly gates were opened.

The main perpetrator and mastermind of the invasion decided to show himself.

Around this Heavenly Gate, there were still hundreds of thousands of arkships moving about and many more were still coming in.

Then, a massive object casually cruised through the space between two heavens.

The Imperial Palace crossed the heavenly gate, bringing with it a wave of shock in the hearts of the nearly dragon officials.

Why was the Imperial Palace here? They wondered.
