Chapter 364: Entering the Dreamscape

Following the fate of the Red Dawn Legion impersonator being sealed, it didn’t take long for the rotund father son duo to follow a similar fate, though different from the impersonators who would be taken in by the Red Dawn Legion, this pair was officially recognized as impersonators by the veterans of the Red Dawn Legion and left for the group of spectators composed of quite a few strong adventurers, to deal with. Leaving the outcome of what would ultimately happen to them up to fate.

"As expected from the Red Dawn Legion... As ruthless as ever..."

"True, it might have been better to just die than get taken in alive by those bloodthirsty demon- Ehm, I mean honorable holy warriors. Even if they do stand a slim chance of survival and becoming part of the Red Dawn Legion themselves in the future, the suffering before that is simply not worth it."

"Haha, I know what you mean, saw some of those so-called traditional trials of redemption in the past and I wouldn’t ever wish something like that even on my worst enemy."

As the situation calmed down and the troublemaking father son duo was being thoroughly educated by a group of adventurers who had been waiting for the opportunity to do so, the group of five who had managed to avoid going to the dreamscape for another few hours chatted happily as they watched everything from afar.

"Isn’t everyone forgetting something...?"

"""..."""

Only with the kind reminder from a certain senior sister did everyone realize that any new attempts to delay the inevitable trip to the dreamscape would end in failure.

So, after a quick hand over of the juniors that they had been put in charge of while the group of elders went and dealt with the imposters daring enough to impersonate as someone from their legion, the group of five said a quick goodbye before making their way back to the Adventurer Guild to inquire about the dream gate within Temple Guard city.

The entire situation playing out in a far more peaceful manner compared to their first visit to the Adventurer Guild now that the group of troublemakers had been cleaned up, though it could also be because everyone had left earlier to join the fun and were currently in the process of educating said pair of troublemakers. Leaving only a few staff members who couldn’t leave to reluctantly look after the now mostly empty building.

Originally, everything was working out well, as the staff members were more than happy to help show them the way to the dream gate after they shared some information about what had happened to the group of troublemakers. Guiding them all the way to the dream gate that was in a relatively large room that had nothing inside it beside the dream gate and a dozen or so different barriers and other things in place.

Whether these things were in place to guard the dream gate or guard the outside from what might emerge from the dream gate remaining unknown.

Rumble~!

And that was when it happened, just as the group of five were about to cross over and step into the dreamscape, a terrifying shockwave suddenly erupted from the dream gate. Launching all five of them flying into the barrier that had already manifested to prevent the shockwave from spreading beyond the room that the dream gate was located inside- 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Crack~

But the shockwave was far too strong and though the barrier was far stronger than a normal S Rank Barrier, it began cracking under the terrifying pressure. Looking like it was about to break at any second, the group of five found themselves being squeezed violently by the continuous shockwaves that seemingly came one after the other without pause from the other side of the dream gate.

Whoosh~

However, as the barrier was about to break, an older figure wearing a simple blue robe appeared beside the barrier and unleashed a terrifying mana pulse into the barrier that almost instantly stabilized it, while at the same time dragging out the five inside before they were squeezed to death by continuous shockwaves from the dreamscape on the other side of the dream gate.

"What... What is that?!" Regaining his strength, one of the five could not help uttering the question in his mind as a deep terror appeared in the depths of his eyes. The sheer power of whatever it was he had just faced was beyond anything he had encountered. Even the cardinal that he had considered to be at the pinnacle of strength was seemingly fragile and weak in the face of that terrifying power.

Not to mention, what he and the other four experienced were mere aftershocks. Not the true impact that had been behind the creation of those terrifying shockwaves.

"A devourer of dreams, also knowns as a demigod of the dreamscape clashing with an equally powerful existence. The shockwaves of such a battle tend to easily affect the border between the dreamscape and the material place. Channeling through any nearby entrances to dreamscape to escape through, one of the main reasons these barriers are in place. All to deal with those kinds of situations, though the battle this time around is far closer than normal." Not even glancing towards the man as he answered the question, the elderly man in the blue robe remained entirely focused on ensuring that the barrier didn’t break.

"A demigod of the dreamscape and an equally powerful opponent clashing..." Barely picking up any of the words from the blue robed elder, the man who had just been about to bravely enter the dreamscape to carry out the order of the cardinal could not help shivering in fear as he now truly realized just how dangerous the dreamscape was.

A demigod, by all accounts, was a being who had already touched divinity and was in the process of attaining godhood, a terrifying existence that he would never have had a chance of encountering under normal circumstances.

But even before stepping foot inside the dreamscape, he already encountered a situation where two such beings clashed with each other. Making it clear just how deadly the dreamscape was along with why the Adventurer Guild was so obsessed with exploring the dreamscape.

After all, outside of the dreamscape, there was nowhere one could get so close to beings of such power.

Not just get close to them, but he knew that the Adventurer Guild hunted such beings and had succeeded in the past. In fact, the current guild master of the Adventurer Guild was said to have slain a demigod of the dreamscape in the past on his own, a testament to just how powerful he was.

But then again, to be the one in charge of the Adventurers Guild that spanned the entire world, one had to be powerful.

Although not a god, there were countless rumors about the guild master of the Adventurer Guild. Among them, the most realistic was that the guild master had already transcended the mortality to some extent and become a demigod himself.

"Do you five need to enter the dreamscape any time soon? If you do, you might soon have to wait for a bit to enter."

"Huh? Ah! Yes, we have a mission to carry out on behalf of the cardinal!" Hearing the sudden voice of the elder man, the somewhat nervous man nodded his head as he barely registered the words of the older man.

"A mission from a cardinal... I see. Allow me to help the four of you before the dream gate becomes too unstable for traversal between the two planes."

"Huh?"

WHOOOOSH-!

"Whhhaaaa-!"

"What is haaapeeennnniiing-!"

"Why am I floating!?"

And before any of the five had any chance to voice a single complaint, they were sent flying through the seemingly solid barrier before flying straight through the entrance of the dream gate in between the terrifying tremors from the dreamscape.

"Hm, with them gone, it should be safe to temporarily cut the connection to ensure no damage to the dream gate..." Muttering this to himself as the five Holy Light Church members disappeared into the dreamscape, the older man waved his hand as the dream gate that had been trembling violently because of the terrifying battle playing out within the dreamscape not too far away from the anchor point of the dream gate within the dreamscape, ceased its trembling.

Along with it, the mystical light that had been surrounding the dream gate dimmed significantly as the tremors that had been threatening to destroy everything became nothing more than insignificant creaking sounds from the wood of the gate bending gently.

"With the dream gate in a sealed state, it shouldn’t take any more damage, though the other side will have to endure on its own for a bit before the connection can be reestablished. Hopefully that battle didn’t happen anywhere too close to outpost itself..." Quietly muttering this to himself as he glanced at the dream gate, the elderly man soon turned around and left after ensuring that the situation had been properly dealt with and no other problems remained.
