Reincarnated as a Novel's Villain: Creator of Curses and Blessings-Chapter 48: Butcher
His face was filled with killing intent as he leisurely walked through the forest. He quickly summoned his items.
Soon, his ragged clothes slowly dissipated into the void. In their place, agate-colored armor materialized piece by piece across his body.
Moonlight fell upon it, reflecting the color of death.
At last, the pure black sword appeared at his belt. But Hector didn’t allow it to rest for long.
He swiftly drew it from its scabbard and brandished it a few times, pulling back the killing intent from before—his shadowy figure emerged from the bushes and headed toward the campsite.
However, in the very next moment, he frowned as he took in the scene before him.
All of the fat noble’s underlings were already dead...not by his poisoned meal, but slain through chopping, hacking, and smashing.
They were killed brutally, as if they were nothing more than sheep in a slaughterhouse, born only for that fateful day.
Hector’s frown deepened when he glanced at the middle-aged man sitting atop a nearby rock.
The man, with droopy eyes, seemed to be dozing off, his head leaning against the hilt of his blade. He looked completely uninvolved in the situation, yet his massive weapon was soaked in fresh blood—clearly betraying his careless appearance.
He slowly opened his eyes, revealing vertical pupils. Contentment filled his gaze as he looked at Hector.
"Sure enough, you’re pretty strong... just as I expected."
He chuckled, stood up, slung his massive blade over his shoulder, and summoned a shield at the same time.
Hector scowled and asked,
"What do you want?"
It was hard to understand why one of that fat noble’s underlings would suddenly slaughter his own fellows—
and now, laugh like a complete psycho while telling Hector he was "pretty strong."
Even though Hector had already expected the middle-aged man to be his final obstacle after killing the fat noble. Unluckily, his poisoned meal barely had any effect on a seven–mana-core individual. He had at least hoped it would do something.
"So it’s shame..."
The middle-aged man smirked, then sighed in amusement.
"Well, I just... wanted to find something to play with. You know... a proper prey to toy with. That fat pig was supposed to be mine, but it seems you already dealt with him."
His smile shone with pure madness.
"So you’ll have to play with me instead."
Hector let out a deep breath. He hadn’t expected to run into another maniac so soon.
"What a fucking day!" Hector burst out laughing.
Without wasting a second, Hector sprinted forward while summoning Aharok.
There was no need for restraint now. His opponent was clearly a veteran warrior, not some academy student.
He could tell just by looking at the condition of the corpses around them—this wasn’t a fight. It was a slaughter, like a butcher hacking apart pigs.
And the very first clash proved that his judgment was right.
Just a mere chop from the man, Hector’s hand nearly felt like it was about to be torn to pieces as the man’s massive blade clashed against Hector’s sword.
"Urghh." Hector groaned in pain, struggling to deflect the blow to the side. If not, his body would have been slashed in half.
But just half a second later, the man had already prepared to slam his shield toward Hector after the first strike.
Surely, if Hector took that shield blow, his entire body would turn into a puddle of blood... Yet, Hector felt no fear.
In an instant, Aharok broke through space, revealing himself behind the man.
A merciless, diabolical punch was delivered, sending the man flying and shattering his steel armor into hundreds of pieces, scattered across the ground.
Despite his body being battered by Aharok’s attack, the man instantly stood up, laughing maniacally.
"YOU’RE POWERFUL!"
The man continued to lunge at Hector with incredible speed, swinging a series of slashes.
Hector used [Dance of Shadow] to evade the man’s blows, while at the same time trying to find a way to escape the man’s pressure.
Aharok once again used his gravity to push the man down, then pulled him toward himself.
Hector’s summon was ready to punch the man again.
The man just chuckled and adjusted his massive blade to thrust at Aharok. But it wasn’t a good idea—after all, Aharok had the ability of endless regeneration.
BANG!
The man’s massive blade pierced through Aharok’s chest, pinning him hard to the ground.
Meanwhile, Aharok’s blow had already dealt massive damage to the man, breaking plenty of bones and crushing parts of his body.
Blood soaked his entire body, yet the man still laughed maniacally.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... IT’S SO FUNNY."
He summoned another massive blade, staring at Hector perversely, as if he wanted Hector to do it again.
Each of his broken flesh quickly rearranged itself, like shattered fragments being pieced back together.
It wasn’t like the recovery of an immortal, but more like the man’s body was forcing itself to maintain its shape so its owner could keep fighting.
His fatal, deadly wounds were still there.
But that wasn’t the end. The man’s mana was bizarrely empowered from nowhere... his aura completely filled with the stench of death and blood.
In theory, he had reached the power of eight mana cores, yet his actual cores still remained at seven.
Hector was certain the man’s blessing must be high-rank.
"H-Holy fuck!" Hector’s expression twisted with stress and tension.
This was the first time he had run into such a terrifying enemy... but he didn’t have time to dwell on the danger or how horrifying the man was.
He needed to think of a way to kill that psychotic bastard, based on the man’s current state.
He could tell that if he tried to stall until the man bled out, he might win... tsk, but that was ridiculous in this situation.
He no longer had enough mana to maintain Aharok for even one more minute. On top of that, his enemy had effectively reached eight mana cores and entered a berserk state.
A veteran warrior... no, a fucking experienced slaughterer like him wouldn’t allow that to happen.
"I must gamble... even if... I die."
