(Very good~ Finally, I’ve reached five mana cores. Now, if I face that psycho slaughterer, I’ll make sure he goes through something even worse than hell. Well... unlucky. He’s already dead.)

Hector smirked before heading back to the Lion Legion’s stronghold.

"Everyone! The special unit is back!" a soldier shouted after spotting the badge on Hector’s outfit.

"Huh? Why is only he back? Where are the others?" another soldier asked, his voice filled with suspicion.

"Who knows? Maybe they all died. Special missions are always dangerous."

Soon, most of the soldiers gathered and escorted Hector to headquarters.

At that moment, Hector faced questioning from the five commanders of the Lion Legion.

"A donkey?" one of the commanders snapped, his voice irritated.

"Tell me—why are you the only one who returned? Did you flee the mission? Do you know how big a sin that is for a soldier?"

Hector chuckled.

"Madam Violet. Our mission has been fulfilled."

Then he quickly walked up to Violet and dropped a pile of papers onto the table, completely ignoring the other commanders.

The other commanders’ expressions darkened at Hector’s attitude.

One of them shouted in anger.

"Soldiers! Drag him out and execute that bastard for me!"

Violet spoke up.

"Stop. We should reward him for what he did for the Lion Legion."

Molly added,

"So he took information from the enemy."

Violet nodded and handed the piles of papers to the other commanders.

Most of the commanders were stunned when they saw them. The papers contained nearly all of the enemy’s information.

If they could analyze the encoded data, the next step in conquering the Demon Fortress would become much easier.

Still, some commanders didn’t like Hector. After all, he was a donkey—there was no way he could have gathered this kind of intelligence.

One of them suspected Hector had stolen it from other soldiers.

"Commander Violet, we should arrest that donkey. I can guarantee he’s incapable of doing something like this."

Ignoring the advice, Violet shook her head.

From the first time they met, she could already tell Hector was from the academy, based on the clues and his achievements.

Moreover, if he were just an NPC of this world, there was no way he could pull off something like this.

Since he had helped her with the upcoming conquest of the Demon Fortress, he deserved a reward.

Helping a classmate wasn’t a bad thing.

"What’s your name, mighty soldier? You may ask for anything. No need to be modest."

Most of the commanders immediately protested Violet’s pointless favor toward that donkey, but Violet only glared at them.

Well, they just sighed. Eventually, Violet was the strongest commander.

Hector licked his lips. He knew very well that everything would happen like this.

(Thank you, my old fiancée.)

"My name is Roy Jacobs," he added in a polite voice.

"I want to become commander of the special unit."

Violet frowned in disbelief, while the other commanders snorted at Hector’s stupid words.

The special unit was for those who wanted to die. None of the students wanted to join that unit— not even Violet.

"Are you sure?" Violet asked.

Molly quickly spoke up. Yet his voice held a hint of jealousy when Violet showed too much concern for a donkey.

He disliked it. Violet should only look at him.

"Well, he’s a brave one. You should accept his wish."

Hector raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, madam. I won’t change my mind."

***

At 4 A.M., as usual, Hector was doing push-ups.

Two hundred.

Before long, a girl’s soft voice rang out.

"Are you really fine with that wish?"

Hector shot upright, controlling his breath. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and replied in a joking tone.

"I’m a donkey, you know? You shouldn’t get close to me like that. Everyone will hate me even more if they see this."

Violet just said,

"Don’t trick me. I know who you are. You’re one of us."

Yep. Since they were from another world, prejudice was pointless to them.

The title of donkey wasn’t something they cared about.

She lingered for a while before asking,

"If you want, I can recruit you as one of my underlings. It’ll be better than the special unit."

Hector smirked, his voice full of teasing.

"Why do you care about me so much? Don’t tell me you... like me?"

Violet replied coldly,

"Don’t misunderstand. I’m just trying to help you since you’re a part pushing my process to completion. If you want to die, I’ll screw you over."

As she was about to leave, Hector grabbed her hand.

"Wanna fight?"

Violet frowned. She wanted to kick him the moment he touched her hand. But when she felt no lust like other men—only a pure desire to fight—she let him guide her.

"Okay."

***

"Which rules do you want?" Violet asked.

Hector rubbed his chin.

"Just pure swordsmanship... and... I mean, you know, I’m not on par with you."

Violet nodded and drew her sword.

Hector also took a fighting stance.

Violet hesitated for a moment before saying,

"I won’t move a step. If you can make me move, you win."

Hector raised an eyebrow in amusement.

"Then I’ll add something interesting. If I win, you must fulfill my wish."

Violet smiled.

"So if I win?"

Hector shrugged.

"Anything you want from me. Even if you want me to die."

Violet scowled, then sighed.

"Don’t worry. I’ll just make you one of my underlings. It’s a good thing I’m doing for you."

Hector licked his lips, for the first time showing a slightly perverted expression, making Violet feel creeped out.

"Hope so."
