Reincarnated as the Weakest Magical Beast-Chapter 105: Amaras battle second stage (6)
Aron’s legs buckled, and he collapsed onto one knee, his entire body trembling violently. Sweat dripped down his forehead, stinging his eyes as he gritted his teeth.
"Aron! Hang on!!!" Mary yelled, her voice cracking with desperation.
"Urrgh! I’m... I’m trying!!!" Aron grunted, veins bulging along his arms as he poured every ounce of his strength into maintaining the absolute defense barrier.
For the past minute, while Aron focused solely on defense, Mary had been firing a relentless volley of mana arrows at the assassin— probably hundreds, by now. Each arrow streaked through the air, only to vanish into thin air or strike an illusion. Not a single one hit the real target!
Meanwhile, the Assassin DeathGuard continued to hurl daggers at them.
Luckily, none of its attacks could break through Aron’s absolute defense.
But if they couldn’t find a way to deal with the assassin before Aron’s skill wore off, everything would be meaningless.
So... what now?
Normally, the best way to get rid of the assassin was to use a detection skill to pinpoint its exact position. The second-best option was to use a massive AoE skill—one that would hit all the assassins, real or fake, without discrimination.
However... neither option was available right now. They had no detection skill, and although Mary had some AoE abilities, they simply weren’t powerful enough.
In fact... the one who was supposed to have a powerful AoE skill capable of dealing with this assassin... was currently unconscious outside the dungeon!
Aaaa... damn it!
Master, please hurry!
Mimi’s eyes locked onto the black smoke in the distance, where her master had disappeared.
Emilia had been fighting in there for almost two minutes now. And yet, Mimi was still alive.
That must mean... Emilia was alive too!
She was still fighting!
Mimi could feel it—the faint pulse of Emilia’s presence, like a distant heartbeat.
Come on!
COME ON!!!
"Aron, I’m going to do it!" Mary suddenly announced.
"Wait—what do you mean?!" Aron’s breath hitched, his eyes widening in alarm.
Mary didn’t hesitate. She took out her ivory box, opened it, and pulled out the star. In an instant, the star morphed—now in her hand was her Divine Weapon: the Celestial Light Bow Farael!
"Milady! You can’t!" Aron shouted in panic.
"Aron, we have no choice!" Mary replied.
Mimi realized what Mary was trying to do. She wanted to use Farael to deal with the assassin!
And to stop this, Mimi wriggled free from Aron and leaped at Mary, meowing aggressively!
*HISS!*
MARY! YOU CAN’T!
YOU CAN’T DO THIS!
Sure, if Mary used her AoE skills powered by Farael, she could easily dispatch the assassin. In fact, it would be overkill, like using a blade meant for slaying a bull to crush a tiny worm!
But it was already decided that she could only use that bow once. And it was supposed to be for the final boss, for Amaras himself!
This bow, the Celestial Light Bow Farael, was the team’s only hope to defeat him!
Thus, using the bow now... meant abandoning the mission.
"No! Milady... you... can’t!" Aron pleaded. "After everything we’ve been through, we’re so close! You can’t give up now!"
Still, despite Mimi and Aron’s protests, Mary loaded a magic arrow onto the string. It glowed brilliantly.
"I’m sorry, you guys... but we have no other choice..." Mary muttered, her voice trembling with pain. "Once we’ve dealt with the assassin, please go help and rescue Miss Elise. Bring her to safety."
"Please, milady! I can still hold on! We don’t have to do this!" Aron pleaded, his voice strained.
But his arms were shaking violently now, and the barrier flickered dangerously, its golden light sputtering like a dying flame.
"FFUCK!" Aron cursed helplessly.
"Alright!" Mary ignored him. She drew the bow and pointed it upward.
Any moment now, she was about to fire it—her AoE skill! Light gathered at the arrow’s tip, growing brighter and brighter as she charged.
But—
AAAAA!
FUCK THIS!
Mimi was furious!
This stupid noble girl—how dare she not trust Master Emilia!
How dare she give up now?!
Mimi couldn’t stand for this!
NEVER!
And so...
Mimi coiled her body—hup!—and jumped! She bit down hard on Mary’s hand with her tiny fangs.
"AAA!" Mary yelped.
"WAY TO GO, FLUFFYTAIL!" Aron cheered.
"AAAA! Fluffytail! Please! Let me go! I need to unleash the skill! Otherwise, we will die!"
Mary tried to shake Mimi off, but Mimi refused to yield. She clung tightly to Mary’s arm!
Right now, Master Emilia was fighting with her life on the line. Mimi couldn’t give up this fight! She had to stop Mary at all costs!
"ARGH!" Mary flung her arm harder this time, and Mimi fell off—but she immediately jumped back, higher this time, and clung to Mary’s face!
"AAA! Fluffytail! Get off me—EUGH!" Mary gagged.
HAHA!
Mimi’s dirty paw now thrusted into Mary’s mouth!
There’s no way this fool would be able to chant an incantation now! And if needed, Mimi wouldn’t hesitate to claw Mary’s face!
Shweeeng!
She brandished her claws.
"MREOWWW!"
MARY! THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING!
Just then, a silver light flashed.
Wooosh!
Someone had arrived!
"Wha—Miss... Elise?!" Aron exclaimed in shock. Emilia, out of nowhere, suddenly appeared before his eyes! She was wearing her mask again, and her hair had reverted to light blue.
Meaning: Success!
Emilia had defeated the other DeathGuards!
A dagger shot toward her.
CLANG!
She deflected it easily with her sword.
"Thank you for holding on," she nodded to the group. "Now, leave the rest to me."
As she spoke, her sword blazed with black fire.
****
[Ding!]
[DeathGuards defeated: 5/5]
[Stage 2 of 3: The Eternal Deathguards completed!]
[Time taken: 6 minutes!]
Within minutes, Emilia had killed the assassin effortlessly.
Now...
As Emilia pulled her sword from the DeathGuard assassin’s chest, its body turned to gray particles and was blown away by the wind.
Mary approached.
"Miss Elise..." she muttered. "This... this is incredible! Do you... have detection skills as well?"
Her voice was filled with astonishment.
"It’s... actually not that complicated," Emilia replied. "You just need to listen."
"Eh? Listen?" Mary asked.
"Yeah," Emilia nodded. "That assassin is invisible and even has illusions to mess with your eyes. So, to defeat it, you just need to... not use your eyes!"
