Reincarnated Into A Dead Woman's Body In Another World-Chapter 160: Arc 4, Act I, - 5: Itinerary
"Itinerary?" Hotaru’s ears bristled.
"Yes," Feyan faced them, "Although much of the activities I relayed to you in the carriage are false... A tour is still a part of the plans.
Other than that, your luggage and belongings have all been transported here to the palace. The four of you will be staying here as honoured guests."
"Can’t really have my best friend roaming around the city looking for inns now, can I?" Daiyu smirked.
"Hmph, like you even had a second doubt. Oh, as long as that’s okay with all of you," Jotou turned to her friends.
"We get to stay in a super cool ginormous palace with a princess!? Yes! Yes it’s okay!" Asobi bounced in her seat.
"What she said. We get to stay here, in THE palace, in the capital of Cravolta and you thought we’d say no?" Fumeko cocked a brow.
"I was just, making sure... We kinda had plans," Jotou turned to Hotaru.
"Plans tend to change; I never planned to be stuck in Hartamat for two weeks... Besides, I think whatever Galuvit Town had pales in comparison to this," Hotaru beamed.
"Well, as I said, just making sure we’re all on the same page," Jotou glanced back to Daiyu, "Can’t deny your offer now, can I?"
"Bold of you to assume it was an offer and not an order," Daiyu half-closed her right eye.
"Not like you could keep the Thundering Blade down, Undying Princess," Jotou stretched with a smirk, "How did you get that title by the way? Was it actually because you’re ’unyielding’?"
Daiyu blew wind up her bangs, "That’s a long story. I woke up in the middle of a-"
"Princess, I apologize for interrupting, but now that this whole charade has faded, why do we not go elsewhere—out of this, dreary, room?" Feyan scrunched his nose as he glanced around the bricks.
"I guess we can walk and talk the tour."
"That will be preferable," the half-elf sighed in relief.
_
They stepped out as Feyan closed the door behind them. The room sat at the corner of two corridors on the second floor. The dark cream hued walls, from floor to ceiling reached about ten or so metres.
Inlaid upon the walls were various patterns, curling and twisting, as well as square panels of white and bronze that made the wall’s skirting.
Each door down the northern corridor, was beamed upon by the rays of dusk light, glimmering a mild orange hue against the spherical lamps mounted high on the walls.
Each concave arch had windows to be opened onto the relatively thin corridor-balcony outside.
Swirls of creamy-white blended within the otherwise beige marble floors that echoed each of their footsteps. "Shall we be off then?" Feyan queried.
"Why is a room like that even here?" Fumeko asked as they began walking down the western corridor. Asobi nearly fell over backwards looking up at ceiling painted with various paisley patterns.
Feyan greeted Royal Guard and staff with a small bow as they passed by on their business, "The room was used for interrogations conducted by the Royal Guard.
However, treason is an incredibly rare instance and almost no cases require interrogation within the palace. It is just one of the many unused rooms."
"Preeetty," Asobi uttered, eyes sparkling at every closed door.
"Ever since the princess appointed me, I have memorized this palace, every room, every painting on every floor and the names of all the staff.
Oh, and much of the princess’s etiquettes, customs and mannerisms which I, have to constantly remind her about..." Feyan sighed a little.
"Hey, you’re the royal advisor, you need to advise me," Daiyu retorted with a roll of her eyes.
"Must’ve been rough when you found out that Daiyu wasn’t the original princess," Jotou pouted.
Feyan raised his brows, "Uh, not exactly. I have only been working here for three months. I barely knew the previous princess. I know her name from reading it, but I had no interactions with her."
Daiyu turned to Jotou, "Feyan’s the first face I saw when I, woke up... after the crash..." her eyes darted to Fumeko, Hotaru and Asobi following along.
"So, what happened with you exactly?" Jotou queried.
Daiyu shook her head, snapping herself out of something, "Feyan knows the story better. Something about Tamara; Feyan?"
"Uh, of course. I have no trouble telling the tale of the Undying Princess. The previous princess’s actual name was Riyanshi Nimaya Tamara.
Tamara was the name of the royal family, also the name of the palace. She was the only heir to King Riyanavan and Queen Gamila Tamara.
The king, queen and princess had gone out to the western portion of Galuvit and separated to oversee the defences and encampments near the invasion border.
It was a standard procedure, meant to be done every six months. However, the previous princess’s parents were assassinated as well as many of the troops and Royal Guard with them.
Before the princess could be warned, the surprise attack had succeeded against her as well. Most soldiers in the near vicinity were confirmed deceased or missing.
Many of the Trailon Regime’s men were also downed, scattered amongst the corpses. The princess taking priority over the others, was brought over to where I was stationed as a medic.
The king and queen had been taken elsewhere. The princess had been shot through the torso. I tried my best to heal her, but I could not... for she had already died.
However, two days after her death, whilst in the process of preparing her body to be brought back to the capital... she came back to life on the first of June.
I stayed with her for the first few days, trying to comprehend what had happened. Eventually, it was time for her to return to the capital, even if she had amnesia, which I did not believe she did.
After a week of back and forth with the council, I was tasked to keep checking up on the princess for necromancy and the like; I found no such trace and all her wounds were no more.
After which, the princess was still by technicality, the princess. Then she made me her right hand in these matters," Feyan finished.
"And Feyan’s been doing the job perfectly," Daiyu smiled to him as Feyan smiled and bowed his head a little. "Anyways, the public doesn’t know all the details.
Just that I ’survived’ the battle and came back to life with amnesia and chose a different name. The only people who’re fully aware are all in this palace.
The council then decided to give me the title of ’The Undying Princess’. Not like they care much about keeping this secret though. There’s already people in the public that don’t like me."
"The council?" Fumeko leered.
"Cravolta’s a constitutional monarchy if I’m not mistaken," Hotaru spoke up.
"It is," Feyan lit up.
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Fumeko squinted to the two.
"The Council of Cravolta, Saady mentioned that they actually run the country," Jotou recalled.
"Ugh," Daiyu’s head slumped, "Don’t get me started on the CoUnCiL. While you were out there somewhere building your little harem-"
"I swear to hell Daiyu, this monarchy’s gonna end pretty soon," Jotou’s eyes glazed over as she stared daggers.
Daiyu giggled, "It’s nice to have you back."
"What’s a harem?" Asobi tilted her head.
"Daiyu is just making fun of us Sobi, don’t listen to her," Hotaru replied.
"Can we get back to my question?" Fumeko glared, "Aren’t you at the top?"
"Alright, alright," Daiyu fanned her hand, "The Council of Cravolta. So basically right, even though I’m ’the princess’, I don’t actually ’rule over’ anything.
I have to like oversee things, give my input into decisions which have more value I think and all that stressful stuff while the council breathes down my neck.
As Jotou said, they actually run things; the ministers, made of nobles and whatever. I’m more like the respected face of everything and I’m not even queen!" the word queen echoed through the halls.
"Well my lady, the council has to account for the technicality that you are from another world and not the previous princess. However, your power does not vary much as queen; it is simply a promotion of title."
"You’re right, I know," Daiyu sighed. "Still, it sounds cooler. Anyway, I had no clue you were here till three weeks ago a bunch of news came out that the Trailon Regime secretly infiltrated Kria.
Also someone known as the Thundering Blade of Kria took care of it and was going adventuring towards Cravolta. I didn’t really care much at first.
Until, I saw what your actual name was. I prepared this entire thing three weeks ago, waiting for you to come over," Daiyu told.
Jotou smirked, "Aw, you were waiting so long for me?" Daiyu half-closed her right eye, glaring back. "Hehe. Sorry I took so long. I was trapped in a damn time loop in Hartamat."
"Yes, we will have a full report of that tomorrow I believe," Feyan stepped in. They had finally stopped at one of the rooms. The wide doors led into, "This is the grand library. Any information you wish to seek can be found here," Feyan introduced.
The room was covered in dark wood that made up the shelves for the books; of which there were possibly tens of millions...
The scent of parchment permeated the air, colourful spines that were catching to the eyes sat all around. Cushioned chairs, sofas and tables—a jukebox sat quietly on one end as a giant chandelier dangled in the middle of the room.
The registry was its own section where a bookkeeper, with tanned skin and greying hair tied up into a bun, turned around. She squinted through her spectacles as her cat-like ears twitched to their entrance.
"Aw, Niah’s not here," Daiyu searched
"Niah?" Jotou raised a brow.
"Yeah, she’s cute. She hangs around here for the most part."
"That is because she works here my lady..." the tour continued elsewhere through the palace.
_
"This is the banquet hall." "-This is the grand ballroom." "-The great hall." "-The kitchens," Feyan took them through the palace one by one, the dusk turning to night bit by bit.
They had changed floors about three times and walked across enough hallways to various different rooms, all grand and or vast in nature.
However, before even a quarter of the palace was explored, "Are we done yet?" Fumeko slouched as she walked, groaning to the ceilings.
Jotou let out a small yawn, followed by Hotaru who had glanced at Jotou. Hotaru stopped herself, "I do apologize Feyan... I cannot speak for the others, but I am really fond of this tour...
However, we are all a tad fatigued from today. Perhaps we can continue this tomorrow?" she requested.
"Why are you talking like him?" Fumeko leered.
"Was I?" her ears pricked, breaking out of some kind of slumber herself.
"I am royally perplexed by why so many rooms need to be implee-men-toed only for a multi-tood of them not to be in usage," Asobi followed along, blinking one eye at a time every five seconds.
"Told you this would bore people to death Feyan," Daiyu folded her arms. They stopped at a painting of a mermaid in the eastern corridor of the first floor—also called the ground floor.
Feyan sighed, "I suppose if you are all to stay here a while, you will be acquainted with the rooms of the palace soon enough. However, I did promise someone that the Thundering Blade would visit them."
Jotou shook herself awake, "I’m not really that tired, it’s just that, that’s a lot of information to absorb at once. Who’s this someone?"
