Reincarnated Into A Dead Woman's Body In Another World-Chapter 191: Arc 4, Act I, - 36: The Letter
The guests made their way in, alongside Arabella just as the first rain drops hit the bricks outside. "Thank you so much for hosting us your majesty."
"It was the least I could do," Daiyu elbowed Hotaru forward, in hopes of seeing what she could do.
Hotaru took a step and glanced at them, "Uhm, we will you require you to stay here till the matters of this letter are resolved.
If anything occurs that may endanger the princess, you will be held accountable. This includes any sort of device or enchantment that may be embedded into the envelope you have provided."
"But, we are simply the messengers, we were forced to do so, you must understand," the woman’s eyes widened.
"Yes, and you will be treated as a messenger. We will also be requiring the note that was sent to you personally with the orders that forced you to deliver this letter," the reds of her ears and tail spiked.
The mother and son gulped and sweat went down the son’s brow. "Uh, yes we will, I apologize," she twisted her head to Hotaru, "I have not had the pleasure of being introduced to you..."
"This is Lady Hotaru Kinoshita, my second royal advisor," Daiyu held a half-cocked grin.
Fumeko cocked a brow, looking up at Jotou standing next to her. Asobi’s eyes began to sparkle as she gasped and Feyan’s eyes widened just as his brows knitted.
"Of course," Lady Calish bowed alongside the other two.
"Your majesty," the son opened his mouth and kneeled, "We were not exactly-" His mother glared to him. "-forced to send the letter, but we did, as we had accepted the sum...
We deeply apologize for lying in such a way and I hope you will forgive us. We did however, presume if we did not follow through, we would have not gotten off lightly. Please forgive us," he still got it out.
Daiyu stopped tapping her foot, "Thank you for informing me of this... I am glad you admitted this now rather than later. You are forgiven, but as she said, you will be held accountable."
"Of course your highness," Lady Calish replied.
"Now, admiral, if you would kindly show our guests to the reception chamber?" to Daiyu’s order Arabella nodded, catching on to the ruse before she escorted the guests away.
"I didn’t know you were a Lady Hotaru!" Asobi hopped up.
"I’m away for a minute and you all conspired?" Fumeko glared.
"Wasn’t really a conspiracy, this is entirely spontaneously the psychopath’s doing," Jotou’s eyes glazed over. Daiyu stuck her tongue out, half-closing her right eye; Jotou responded in kind.
"Lady?" Hotaru could not help but smile wider, "I didn’t expect that..." a nervous chuckle followed.
"I, am not being replaced am I?" Feyan looked left and right.
"No, I am," Jotou replied.
"I can have two royal advisors, right?" Daiyu looked to Feyan.
"Yes, you can have as many as you desire, I was just concerned."
"Aww, no need to get jealous Feyan~" Daiyu grabbed Feyan by the chin and shook it.
Feyan went red, "I was, not jealous my lady, I was, not in on the plan is all..." As Daiyu let go, he nearly squeaked whilst he breathed out.
"Liar~"
"Wait, you’re not seriously making me a royal advisor, are you?" Hotaru’s tail began to wag.
"Yeah, why the hell not? Okay, maybe a lot of like official reasons, hm... what about like, ’Temporary Royal Advisor’?" Daiyu parted her hands as if making a rainbow in the air.
"I am still planning to adventure," Hotaru tilted her head.
"Perfect then."
"Hey, make me a lady too," Fumeko leered.
"Ooo! Ooo! Me too! Please! Please! Please!" Asobi held her wand in both hands as she bounced up and down.
"Eh," Daiyu shrugged, "Why not."
"Yes!"
"YAY!"
"Actually princess..."
"No, you’re right," Daiyu interrupted Feyan, "I shouldn’t be handing out titles like business cards, sorry you two."
"Aw..." Asobi drooped.
"Hmph, that’s Detective Namora to you..."
"Regardless, the position of royal advisor does not come with any title, it would still be Ms or Madam Kinoshita," Feyan corrected.
"Very important letter, possible communication with an enemy of war, council meeting," Jotou crossed her arms.
"We should be heading to the meeting and reading that letter," Hotaru nodded.
"Thank you temporary royal advisor, I can’t believe no one else reminded me that," Daiyu shook her head and walked off, leaving a perturbed Jotou...
_
The Royal Ministry’s meeting room, hosting an ovular marble table of deep ruby-brown and wisps of gold. Charts and documents sat at the sides of the room and within a large circular gap in the centre of the table.
For a palace with a grand room for every door, this room appeared, mundane. Simple lights hung from the ceiling, though decorated with a few bits that jangled.
About two dozens of seats to fill, of which eight were, as the Archduke of Cravolta entered. He peered with a smile, "Missing two, but we have gained four," perhaps a little melancholically he uttered.
The thunder batting against the windows only echoed into the room when the doors opened; and after shutting them, the sound was barely a tickle to the eardrums. Fumeko squinted as the archduke approached, namely at the envelope he held in his hand.
The archduke took his seat in between Count Khalim and Feyan before he brought the envelope up, "This is for you princess, from Northern Cravolta," he handed it past Feyan; the blue seal with the emblem of Cravolta upon it had already been opened.
"What’s this? Did something happen up there?" Daiyu opened it with furrowed brows—the letter within folded into four.
"I would suggest reading it aloud your highness. It was sent to my home, but the matter regards all of this," he replied.
"To whom this may concern of the Royal Ministry, I extend my greetings and salutations from Northern Cravolta.
While I have requested to remain unperturbed in my governing whilst the conflicts in the main province resolves to a satisfactory conclusion, Northern Cravolta is still able and willing to provide any necessary support.
As such, we are but two rivers who have built dams and our paths will converge once more. I contact you now not in alarm nor under duress, but to provide insight into some innerworkings of the Tri-Regime of Iniquity.
We have had an informant and they have provided us this message: The Trailon Regime will be sending a reply soon. I hope this letter will reach you before said reply.
Another piece of information that has been gathered, is that in Array, capital city of the Trailon Regime, there is a strange tower able to manipulate the weather.
We know not the extent of this tower’s capabilities, but we know that it was able to create snowfall in Kria not too long ago. It is only presumed that this extent is limited and possibly requires large amounts of mana to operate.
This information is confidential and not to be released to the public. However, if you are to negotiate or condemn the Trailon Regime for their actions, I believe this information may prove advantageous.
A mass tool that can manipulate the livelihoods of an entire country and innocents; this is not something to be taken lightly.
With that, I give you my best wishes in moving forward whilst we continue to deal with the threat of the Vandlevela Regime near our borders.
Sincerely, Dalileh Farva, Archduchess of Northern Cravolta," signed in beautiful calligraphy, in contrast to the letter which seemed to be the work of a typewriter.
"Well, cutting it a little close there," Fumeko crossed her arms.
"That’s how it snowed in Kria," Hotaru thought out loud.
"So, this is just for leverage against them and to inform of the letter travelling here. Which puts less suspicion on this thing," Daiyu held up nothing in her hand. "Oh, Asobi?"
"Yes...?"
Daiyu waved her hand with pinched fingers in the air.
"Hi!" Asobi waved back.
"You made the letter invisible?" Fumeko squinted.
"Oh! That! Sorry," Asobi pointed her wand and dissipated the illusion.
The sealed envelope appeared in her hand as she was about to open it. "Uh, princess we are not certain what that letter may hold, perhaps we should contact the Maleficos Ordinate?" Feyan halted.
The archduke held his hand forward, "No need for that, simply hand it to me I will make sure it is safe."
"Alright," Daiyu handed over before leaning towards Jotou. "Man, all this magic BS is exhausting..."
"Tell me about it. It’s nice though, a lot of times convenient. Probably why technology in this world is all over the place," Jotou hushed back whilst the archduke held the letter.
Golden light wrapped around it as his eyes lit up with gold as well. Count Khalim closed his eyes, but shook himself awake, while Arabella sat upright, her eyes constantly swivelling around the room.
The glow throughout the room faded after a few seconds, "There is only, light traces of mana nothing innately ’magical’ in nature; not even a beginner level spell," he handed it back with a smile.
"Okay, the letter the world’s been waiting for," Daiyu ignored the letter opener next to her and used her nails to open. She held the formal letter in her hands, her brows furrowed to the paper that was cold to the touch.
"Dear Princess Xia Lan Daiyu of Cravolta, the Undying Princess of the Empire of Shattering Earth, I hope this letter finds you well.
Knowing of how this letter arrived to your hands, I am sure you now know that we require the upmost privacy regarding this matter and this is not information available for public disclosure.
I acknowledge the claims of several ’crimes’ and ’cruelties’ we may or may not have committed and acknowledge the discussion this brings.
You are my enemy in this war, however, in order to avoid a scorched earth policy and mass genocide on either side, I will comply with the demand to speak in a peaceful manner to find a consensus.
One in which both parties can agree upon. As for any ’trial’ that the Trailon Regime must face, we can discuss this during our meeting.
I await your reply and approval, for these are the only terms I and the Trailon Regime will agree upon. Denial of this will not end well.
Once I have received a reply, I will not reply back. Instead, I will allow this information to be publicly announced. There will be a ceasefire order issued from the Trailon Regime.
I request that clearances are made for the 15th of September, 979, when I am to arrive at Tamara Palace. An envoy will be sent on the 13th of September, 979, to inspect the premises and inform anything of my arrival.
I also request a ceasefire order to be issued on your end. This temporary armistice will be kept till our talks are complete. That is all I wish to convey.
From, the Supreme Prime Minister Aldous Woddard of the Trailon Regime, the Regime of Ships and Stars ... What an entitled fuckwit!"
"Princess," Feyan sighed, "language..."
"Sorry," Daiyu huffed.
