Chapter 207: Arc 4, Act I, Chapter 52: Afterglow

’Did that actually happen? I... it was such an impossibility in my mind... That could’ve gone so wrong. I felt her, completely... The way she called out my name and made me shudder...

Ugh... I don’t think I’ve ever had a sleep this peaceful before. There’s that scent again. Like delicate petals on the sea; a sweet and just a little salty smell, mixing to give an intoxicating aroma.

The scent of sea dandelion is all over my pillows now; I hope I don’t get addicted.’ She roused herself, gently opening her eyes to a hazy image.

"Mmm... My mornings can only get better if they’re like this~" head leaned on a propped up arm, the brilliant blue eyes with ruffled red hair watched.

A little mumbling yawn, "Because being awake with me feels like a dream~?" Jotou followed with a sly grin.

Hotaru sighed, rolling her eyes. Jotou’s eyes closed back, having rolled away from her during the night.

Hotaru stared with a smirk, leaning closer and closer. She gently kissed her blonde. Jotou kissed back wearily, her eyes still shut, "Hey Hotaru?"

"Hm?"

"You have morning breath."

The redhead’s eyes popped completely awake as she twisted the blankets around her and recoiled; she clasped her mouth shut. "I, I didn’t notice," her ears bristled.

"I didn’t either~" Jotou snickered, drifting back asleep even though the glow of sunlight breached the curtains.

"You spiteful- Grr..." her tail spiked and her hand lunged for Jotou’s crotch. Feeling a shock of electricity going down her hair, she jolted awake and rolled away on the bed.

With widened eyes she stared to Hotaru. The blonde peered down, "Gah!" and pulled the blanket over herself.

"Oh, you had your guard down around me? Such a good girl trusting me so much~" Hotaru giggled, "No need to be so shy, it’s not like I didn’t see you naked last night."

Jotou groaned, flushing pink as her mind and body began to wake up. She pouted to the side and fell back into the pillows, closing her eyes.

Hotaru got out of bed and stretched her arms and legs. Jotou took a little peek, watching her bare chests and back move; her tail in a swivel as she gently patted down her hair that grew till her waist.

Blushing redder, the blonde closed her eyes again. Hotaru walked to Jotou’s side, "Come on, wake up, let’s get ready. We have people to see, things to do. Just because last night was a party doesn’t mean everything stops today."

Jotou groaned, "Daiyu’s probably hung-over, we can be a little slow."

Hotaru tightened her lips, scanning her over. She grabbed Jotou’s ankles through the sheets and dragged the blonde from the pillows.

"Hotarrrruuuu... lemme sleep...!" Jotou fell from the bed. However, she still hung onto the bedframe by the tips of her fingers as the rest of her naked body lied across the carpet.

Hotaru glared down, till a devilish smirk grew... She leaned down and kissed Jotou on the back of the neck and wrapped an arm around the blonde’s collarbone.

Her other hand caressed nails across Jotou’s shoulder blades causing her to flinch awake with a gasp and a moan.

"Looks like I found some sensitive spots; the back of your shoulders, down your spine, around your waist~" the wolf-girl cooed, "I know how to make you squirm. And there’s always looking forward for tonight too~ Don’t you want to play again?"

Jotou moaned in slight resistance, "I... I do..." her breaths jumped each time a nail lightly caressed a line across her back.

"Then, be a good girl and let’s get ourselves ready for the day, shall we?" Hotaru grazed her hands over Jotou and pulled away.

"O-Okay," Jotou stood up, face as red as Hotaru’s hair. She looked to the redhead, and leapt back onto the bed face first.

"Jotou!"

"You think you can win against me that easily Aru?" Jotou cuddled into the pillow, trying to get sleep, "Nice try though~"

Hotaru now leered at the blonde lazing like a housecat. All Jotou felt was lightning arc over her hair. "SLAP!" A bit too late to recoil from Hotaru slapping her across the ass.

"Hey!" Jotou blushed and looked up as Hotaru scurried off to get her own clothes with a giggle. "Ugh," Jotou fell back onto her pillow. "Just give me twenty minutes alright?"

Jotou tried to- ’Wait, why can’t I? I feel, refreshed, I can’t sleep-’ Jotou jerked her head back and looked at her own rear. Her right cheek was a little colder... as if water had just made contact.

Her head swivelled in search of Hotaru who ran to the bathroom. "Did you just spank me with a rejuvenate spell!?" The enraged blonde rolled out of the bed and stood with a sparking fist.

Hotaru let out a cackle and rushed into the bathroom and shut the door. Jotou rushed up and slammed her fist against the locked door repeatedly, "HOTARU!!!!"

_

"Oh morning, you two ate?" all dressed up the princess was and yet there was still this stupor lingering around her.

Jotou and Hotaru were halted by the entrance of the dining hall. "Yeah, you haven’t eaten yet? It’s past nine," Jotou raised a hand to the guests going in and out for their morning meals.

"Yeah," Daiyu took a second to blink, "You two look nice, new outfits."

A yellow tie neck blouse that was tucked into her black trousers to her waist; her blonde hair in a high ponytail that went down till her shoulder blades.

Hotaru’s hair was braided to the side with little rhinestone hair ornaments and she wore a dress of bright blue. Both glanced at each other and shrugged. "Daiyu? Jotou asked a question."

"Yeah, I ate the bed; no, fuck, ate in bed." Someone passed by, squinting as if they just heard the princess curse. Daiyu glared to him passing by... "Anyway, I kinda remember last night. I am, so sorry you two, please tell me you talked it out?"

’She thinks she did the wrong thing? Hehe...’ The blonde pouted, "Yeah... we did. We worked things out; it was rough, Hotaru nearly cried," she felt a little shock go over her body.

"You did?" Daiyu tilted her head, "Please, just, forgive me; I shouldn’t’ve, ya know," she rubbed the side of her head.

Hotaru caught onto her ruse, "You’re forgiven... I don’t think lesser of you, but luckily as you said, Jotou was reasonable."

Daiyu half-closed her right eye, "...You know, my feetsies are tellin’ me you two aren’t lying, but I can sense the bullshittery from here."

"Bullshittery? And you’re trying to detect lies? After what you did Daiyu? You serious right now?"

Daiyu kept her glare, "You’re good, but she gave it away." Hotaru had folded her arms and looked away.

Hotaru’s ears fell, "Sorry, I tried joining you Jotou."

Jotou’s eyes glazed over, "Whatever, at least I’m not hung-over," which turned into a grin.

"So you worked it out fine, great," the Royal Guard around kept an eye on the princess as they walked around, halberds at the ready. "Yeah, I’m hungover, so what? I had fun.

Feyan’s alleviated my migraine three times today and it just keeps coming back. He’s gone looking for a spell for hangovers; I haven’t had one in this body before..."

"Oh, here," Hotaru splashed a rejuvenate onto Daiyu. "It only refreshes and decreases, much like coffee, but it should help."

"I’ll get a hair of the dog, but thanks, woo! Feeling better already."

"Speaking of which, where’s Arabella? Or Meko, or Sobi?"

"I might’ve uh, convinced her to take a few drinks. She’s gone to work it off and the other two are, ROUGH. The staff already went to their rooms to help."

"Oh... I’ll go to their rooms then," Hotaru readied her spell.

"No, no, no," Daiyu caught her by the shoulder, "It’s their first hangover, let them experience it fully; all of the regrets. They’ll be fine."

"I..." Hotaru looked to Jotou. Jotou shrugged back.

"So, what happened to you two?" Daiyu took a step back and examined... "You both have this... weird afterglow..."

"What do you mean?" Jotou knitted her brows.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about."

"Just a little, boosted in your moods..." a grin curled up, "like, something happened..." Both of them averted her gaze. "Oh what a glorious day... You two banged."

"Here we go..."

"Daiyu, it’s not a big deal."

"Oh, it’s very much a big deal Hotaru, Jotou Howllett has ascended~" she grinningly hushed till she exclaimed, "The Thundering Blade has lost his virgi-!! MMM! MhMh!"

Jotou shut her mouth, "I will zap your lips into coconut husks."

Hotaru blushed, watching all those who passed by; the Royal Guards now at the ready and approaching- "It’s okay, it’s okay, there’s just a friendly feud here," the redhead raised her hands.

"Yup, the princess is just uhm," Jotou freed Daiyu’s mouth, "She’s fine." ’There’s a goddamn emissary coming and the palace is filled with important people you psychopath!!!’

"It’s okay," Daiyu beamed, "Ms Kinoshita also lost her vir- Mmmm!"

"Princess, today’s an important day, I’d advise you to be in your best behaviour..." Hotaru glared.

Daiyu cackled into Jotou’s palm, maniacally. The confused Royal Guards and passing guests gave a squint... Daiyu was finally released, "I’m just messing with them, keeping our moods happy before things get serious."

With that excuse, most seemed satisfied to go on with their business. "Not as serious as these two got last night~" Both Jotou and Hotaru groaned.

"Okay, okay, I’m happy you two lovebirds got what you wanted. Serious business, I get it," with a deep, deep breath her face shifted to a solemn one, "I think I’m gonna need a few rejuvenates.

Every time Feyan healed something, it came back. Apparently too many bodily symptoms to properly heal. In an hour or so, we have to be at the gates with our guests to invite Trailon.

Not too many procedures, just greetings. But there’s reporters around and also a lot of the citizens are at the gates, so there’s damage control and stuff. We have to go get into positions and whatnot. You two ready?"

The two glanced to each other. "As ready as we’ll ever be," the blonde smiled.

_

"Ahhh..." Meanwhile, like a ghost in a haunted mansion the brunette wailed in bed—all the lights in her room turned off and the curtains shut.

Trays of fatty foods were devastated by her bedside. She lied in bed, staring upwards with a constant groan under her covers. "Why does my body hate me...?" she began sobbing.

_

In another room, "Everything feels sad..." face down in pillows, the magician stuffed herself into the sheets, trying again and again to fall back asleep by slamming her head into the pillows.

Her stomach rumbled, "I’m hungry..." she looked at the fatty food and coffee brought to her. She could barely lift a finger to grab them before her arm fell limp onto the bed, shuffling like a snail under the covers.
