Reincarnated Into A Dead Woman's Body In Another World-Chapter 214: Arc 4, Act I, - 59: The Trailonian-Cravoltan Accord
"Emissary Dahl."
The hazel eyes looked back, "Thundering Blade, your majesty," her voice still cheery though her conversation with the superintendent was interrupted. "Kathy, if you don’t mind?"
The superintendent glared to everything as usual, "Refrain from calling me that," she turned and walked towards the middle of the room.
The little recess provided most enough to calm their nerves and collect their thoughts. Daiyu kept Arabella close, fending off any who wished to bother her in the middle of all of this.
"I assume this is something to do with the Trailon Regime’s sudden proposal?" the emissary cocked her head.
"Very much so. If we could be frank?" ’She looks way too cute to snap at anyone or even lie; but looks can be deceiving...’
"By all means, no need to waste any more time," she stood upright, "What do you require of me?"
"We want to know if whether this was a ploy that the Trailon Regime has been plotting for a while. Being allies, I have doubts that this wouldn’t have reached your ears," Daiyu spoke while tapping her feet under her dress.
"Hm... I know much, but not too much. Even so, my answer would be no, the Vandlevela Regime was not informed of this directly."
"Directly?" Jotou knitted her brows.
"The Trailon Regime, once they received an order for their crimes, started plotting something. If I recall correctly, Trailon mentioned to our regime that they may have a plan on what to do.
To which the Vandlevela Regime replied to stand trial and not attempt anything reckless. Our regime was very forthcoming in aiding in this endeavour.
After which, we received no reply to which we assumed the worst. So, this caught us by surprise, but not to an egregious amount. We predicted a few possibilities after getting no reply, but this seems, well to be frank, rash.
I work under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so maybe some information has slipped my grasp, but I believe this is a matter of pride."
"Their arrogance will be their downfall," the superintendent walked into the conversation.
"Eavesdropping?" the emissary glanced.
"This matter does not seem to require privacy from me."
"And if I’m correct," Jotou looked to the both of them, "you’re against Trailon in these matters."
"Make no mistake, they’re our allies."
"However, these foolhardy decisions have not garnered any support," the superintendent spun a long crystal smoking pipe in between her fingers.
"Then you’d tell us if there was any trick up their sleeve right? Any sort of technology they might be hoping to win the battle with?" Daiyu questioned.
Emissary Dahl pondered, "None that would be brought to my attention."
"They will most likely hope that they can win this battle with the addition of their six elite soldiers," the superintendent assessed.
"Elite soldiers?" Daiyu squinted.
"I thought that information was extremely private..." Jotou replied.
The superintendent batted an eye, "Privileges of high positions... Though the mere existence of them is not quite secret—you’ve heard of them?"
Jotou’s mind began to run, "I’ve fought one. There’s more than one?"
"Who?"
"The Frosting Wind."
"Ah, you fought the sixth; she is considered the weakest."
"I’m making a judgement call in telling you we intend to accept their proposal. Do you think we have a chance? How powerful are they?" Daiyu asked then faced Jotou who refrained from answering...
"Well," the superintendent paused. "Since our allies are using such underhanded methods it brings us no shame to provide this information to our enemy.
Perhaps you have a chance, most information is confidential. The Cindering Brimstone, the Encircling Gale, the Poisoned Feather, the Rainstorm Slasher, the Psyching Dread and the Frosting Wind—all in order of power.
I did hear rumour of Trailon trying to recruit a seventh, one without an affinity. Apparently someone who could commune with the souls of the dead.
What happened is beyond me. However, you should be assuming that these elites will enter the fray; if you still wish to accept that is."
Daiyu smirked to Jotou... Just as Jotou’s eyes glazed over to Daiyu... Arabella sighed. "Thank you so much. We will make a final decision soon."
"All the welcomes, we await your choice," Emissary Dahl bade. The three walked out of earshot and into the jumble of people from the hearing.
"So you’ve fought one, what’s up?"
’Actually...’ "I think it’s technically two. That spirit-assassin I dealt with... and the Frosting Wind who was technically holding back."
"That hard huh?"
"I think I could take one. I still think we should accept though."
"Yeah, I can’t wait for the challenge," Daiyu rubbed her hands.
"Uh... if they allow the princess to fight, sure. I was more so thinking, if not now then those elite soldiers are gonna come up at some point."
Arabella took the princess by the shoulder and looked her in the eyes.
"Don’t worry Ara, I’m taking this seriously. We just have to like, plan for a lot... Besides, you got me, you, Feyan, this loser and his party. And don’t tell me there’s no one else who can use affinities."
"There’s adventurers, but they’re not gonna be keen on a war unless you want to make huge expenditures; and that’s assuming they can take on any of these elites."
"What’s that brain cooking then?"
"We have the numbers, we have allies and a bullet does the same to someone with an affinity as it does to anyone. We’ll prepare the best we can for them, but the best we can do is to be ready for anything."
"Well ain’t no bullet’s getting me."
"A grenade still will dumbass," Jotou chuckled. "You’re just an exception."
"Hey, what happened?" Fumeko rushed forward.
_
"Cravolta accepts this proposal," Daiyu relayed in the auditorium, everyone back in their places. More mutterings echoed throughout the room.
"Order! Trailon Regime, do you wish to continue this proposal?"
"Yes," the prime minister seemed content in his frown. "This final stand can occur on the first of October, sixteen days to prepare should be sufficient I hope?"
"Sixteen days? For this surprise proposal?" Daiyu half-closed her right eye.
"Are Cravolta’s forces not at the ready at any given time? Pitiful."
"Thirty, make it October 15th," Jotou bargained.
"This is a surprise accord prime minister, you must allow some time for preparation," King Akimitsu retorted.
"A lot can be done in the span of a week. Is Cravolta incompetent at doing so? If so merely state it and we can settle for more days to prepare," the deputy prime minister replied.
Daiyu’s pen could feel the pressure... "Twenty-five days, October 10th."
"Or is Trailon simply too scared of what Cravolta may prepare? After all, I doubt this proposal was made on the spot," Jotou crossed her arms onto the table with a smirk.
"Might I remind that Trailon is still not exempt from its crimes and should be more tolerable towards any decision made by Cravolta," emissary Dahl voiced.
"It is an acceptable time, I would rule in favour of this," the chief justice turned to the prime minister.
"..." whispers entered his ears whilst the room awaited a decision. "Fine, since Cravolta needs the time."
"Gathering allies and the sort will be allowed I presume?" Daiyu continued.
"We have a date and we know what lies on the table. When the Trailon Regime wins, all the regime’s crimes will be excused and all this nonsense will be put at rest; does this satisfy you people?"
"So you do admit to your crimes, fascinating," Jotou mocked.
The defence minister spoke, "If Cravolta wins, the Trailon Regime will withdraw from the war completely. No allies will be sent, no dealings will be held with the matters of the war.
You will share the same exemption that Kria and Hefaloss have."
"Any sort of alliance or attack after that exemption will result in the forces of the world to attack the Trailon Regime mercilessly, previous allies and enemies alike," Daiyu added.
The chief justice knocked his gavel, "I believe this should be on pen and paper."
"Much time has passed and my presence here has outstayed what I had planned. I will be returning with my company back to the Trailon Regime and procure documents for tomorrow. Be grateful I spend such money on teleportation magics."
"A proper accord detailing all the information can be made tomorrow. This will give it time to be processed and we may continue from there," Hotaru stated.
"Then at dawn we shall have our contracts," Daiyu glared... 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"The final verdict is an accord between Cravolta, the Empire of Shattering Earth and the Trailon Regime, the Regime of Ships and Stars.
The particulars of the accord while loosely discussed will be detailed on the morrow under contract. Thank you everyone for being civil in these matters. This hearing is adjourned," the chief justice hit his gavel.
_
The morrow arrived, a little drizzle over Cravolta City causing the rainforests to rustle and chirp. The Council of Cravolta, the guests, every staff and Royal Guard knew of what had occurred.
It would not be long before the public knew as well. Regardless, those present within the council’s conference room all watched as documents were signed.
Scribes and reporters wrote down all the allies and enemies signing their names onto the stacks and stacks of paper labelling every stipulation in strict detail; no loopholes went unexamined.
The dawn had turned to late afternoon by the time everything was complete. How could a pen and some ink hold so much pressure...?
Though this weight was immense and there would be no doubt people who would object either choice, Daiyu signed her name, curving in full complexity ’Xia Lan Daiyu’ onto every page that Hotaru would read before giving to her.
The prime minister did the same, albeit without a second thought. Cravolta would be acting as proxy for the war crimes committed in Kria as well.
Allies and enemies spoke through means of magic back to their homes seeking instruction while the King of Luxinor was all too content to aid Cravolta in their endeavours.
The mayor gave no mind to allowing the Krialin to aid in battle either. Whilst the Malecise Regime decided to send some aid, the Vandlevela Regime refused to interfere with either side other than as witness.
The same sentiment was shared across the other nations. This battle was Cravolta’s and Kria’s at the end of the day and Kria had nowhere near the power or forces of the former.
But... if Trailon was to break this accord, then destruction was promised. Every base of operations, any government building, civilians be damned if they were caught in the crossfire.
The world would not recognize the Trailon Regime as a nation, no trade was to occur and the people would have no choice but to flee.
The ceasefire near the Galuvitian border would persist till the 10th of October, 979 and the battle was to occur in north-western Galuvit, near the invasion border.
The chief justice witnessed and so did the Council of Cravolta, the allies that had gathered and the enemies... It was done; the Trailonian-Cravoltan accord had been struck...
