Reincarnated Into A Dead Woman's Body In Another World-Chapter 245: Arc 4, Act II, - 90: Scarlet Squall
Gale swerved left from the lightning and moved all the wind to his side. He winced; the blast enough to thrust the wind previously beneath him aside as the thunder echoed into the sky.
The blonde looked back down with her eyes shut and brought the sword to her face. "Crash, cling, cling, ting, ping, fring." Nothing seemed to hit her however. She opened one eye just in case.
A barrier made of the dusted debris and sand from below shielded above her, under the control of the Ashen Whisper to her left.
The crystalized shards rained down like glass, sharp edges and tiny fragments. "Thanks!" Jotou exclaimed and stood upright. Arabella’s eyes had already switched focus onto the man in the sky.
’I’m running low.’ Jotou sprinted away and Arabella took over. Sand rained upwards to her command, surging towards the figure- "BLAST!" A gust of wind burst down creating a transitory fountain of sand.
Illusions whizzed past of hummingbirds and dragonflies which Gale ignored, even the flying serpent that circled like a shark in the sky.
Asobi leapt over the rock and hid behind it, taking a step closer every second. She pointed her wand up and stuck her tongue out, "Still not close enough," she grumbled.
The dust shifted away from the winds and into Arabella’s control; like whips, sand lashed from the edge of her wrists. Arabella flung them up. "PSH! FUSH!" The whips were whipped away by the force of the gale.
The Encircling Gale regained his cyclones as the fractions of seconds passed by and they began enveloping around him. Fumeko blinked back up the cliffside only for her to notice no opening.
The whitish-green airstreams circled around him, covering him in a ball-like shell. However, the air-ball had limbs of its own that began lurching forth.
"BF! TF! CRF! RF!" Like bullets, the chunks of rocks from the chasm were shot down in a volley. Jotou held her blade up, Asobi took cover, Arabella shifted the sands above her and Fumeko blinked away.
The twisters swiped down and swept across the field, picking Arabella and Jotou up into the air without a moment to react. Jotou pulled her blade away, flinching her eyes to the pain of her bleeding and bruised fingers.
Asobi came out of the cover and went invisible, rushing into the fray. Fumeko tracked her position. Arabella brought an arm to her face and lifted the sands within the winds.
The sand compressed within the air, and created two floating platforms within the storm. Jotou landed her foot onto one from what she could see and Arabella pulled her arm, gripping Jotou’s foot onto it.
Jotou landed, but was pulled to one side and then the other, battling against the winds thrashing around her. She kept her balance and gritted her teeth, one side of the wind pulling her arm.
"GAH!" the blonde screamed, like her left arm was going to be torn off by the shoulder. "SPARK!" she wrestled it back with a fizzle of lightning and gripped both hands onto the hilt of her blade.
Once the white dots of pain surrounding her vision faded, she could notice the next platform, towards the shell of wind. Electricity sparked up her arms and torso, till the strands of her hair and down her legs.
"HAAAHH!!!" Jotou pushed through and leapt to the platform, but the wind picked her up, "SHOULDER-CHARGE!" the lightning’s momentum pushed her to the other platform as Arabella gripped her down.
A tear of crimson hung under the electricity of the blonde’s eye. Arabella kept her body close, using the sand to push herself away from the cyclones attempting to rip her apart from her armour.
Even so, the Ashen Whisper brought her arm up, making another platform, the previous one dissipating. Jotou leapt, "SHOULDER-CHARGE!" she landed across, only a couple more platforms required.
The sands below began picking up, mimicking the storm from before they arrived. The soldiers alongside Daiyu peered through the small gap in the stone pillars.
The sands avoided a circle in the air, flashes of yellow light fizzled within, illusions flew all around and twisters were fast approaching. Gale brought the storm closer and faster, using every ounce of his power, dragging the two in the air along with him.
"CRASH! BASSH!!! BLAST!!!" Daiyu and the rest had to take cover as a hail of rocks and sands peppered across the stone pillars. One soldier aimed a rifle through the gap. "Blast!"
The rifle round made it about two metres before its momentum shifted back and- "Siff!" It went across the soldier’s cheek causing a cut, "Ah!"
"Don’t shoot dumbass!" Daiyu exclaimed. She groaned, sweat dripping from her brow... If she decided to do anything to help then the wall would fall within seconds... She kept her fists clenched and simply endured.
"SHOULDER-CHARGE!" just one more platform needed, sanguine fluid she cried. Arabella grunted and whimpered, lifting one hand up. Her fingers wriggled, grappling against the wind. "CHFF!"
Fingers were not meant to bend that way... Metal gloves would only hinder her performance, her armguards were leather rather than the metal which covered her from neck to boots.
The blood had no time to trickle as it was taken away by the wind and all could she let out was a raspy whisper of pain. Still, she raised her palm enough to create a crumbling platform.
Jotou had no time to think or even look, "SHOULDER-CHARGE!" she could feel some muscles begin to tear as her foot made it onto the platform, so close to the encased bastard.
She leaned her left shoulder forward, her sword in her right hand behind her. ’One chance!’ "SHOULDER-CHARGE!" she leapt and the lightning coalesced around her form.
"Fizz!" She rocketed toward him, dissipating the forming shield of lightning in an instant. Crimson in her wincing eyes and arcs of yellow across her blade, the Thundering Blade twisted with the wind, "THUNDERING STRIKE!!"
The lightning flashed across the ball, blocked by Gale. The thunder however- "BLASSSTTT!!!!!!!!"
"UAGH!!" the winds pulsated and for once Gale had discontent across his visage. The winds he protected himself with were blasted away, "I HAVE KILLED THOUSANDS, YOU HAVE NO CHANCE NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU FIGHT!
ALL YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH ARE INJURIES AND REGRETS. YOUR COMPANIONS WILL PERISH AND YOU WITH THEM! IF I DIDN’T HAVE THE ORDER-"
"Blinding Mask!" Asobi aimed her wand from right under his flying feet. White specks shot from her wand and sprung onto Gale’s eyes.
"-EGH!" Gale’s head recoiled back and the winds pulsed. Lights seeped into his vision and as his eyes opened all her could see was bright white, no matter where his head turned. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
The hurricanes and tornadoes all dissipated in an instant, leaving only the man levitating sixteen or so metres in the sky. Gravity took hold and yanked Arabella and Jotou.
Arabella shifted the sand up into a soft slide. "TF!" "PUFF!" It hardly mattered as the two simply broke a hole through the top and still fell. "THUMP!" "CLANK!"
The blonde fell on her arm, taking most of the impact into her adventuring gear while Arabella’s armour dented and poked into her torso, though she seemed to land just fine.
"Jotou! Ara!" Daiyu was just a second too late as she dashed into the fray. The Encircling Gale groaned and paused in the air. He brought his hand up to his eyes and whitish-green winds drifted pass.
Asobi’s spells was dispelled, only for shadows come into his view. Gale recoiled and flew backwards. "SLASSHH!!" Fumeko tore across his chest, drawing blood as her dagger pierced through the silvery robes, missing his neck.
She blinked upwards and back onto him, wrapping her legs around his head, but before she could lock them- "BLASHT!" Winds buffeted Fumeko upwards and away as Gale drifted back and—"BLAST!"—drove a gust of wind forward too fast for her to blink out of.
"NGAH!" her eyes closed instinctively and- "CRASH!" "GAAH!!!" her cloaked form was bashed into the side of the chasm. "Woosh!" She opened her eyes long enough to blink back safely onto the sand and catch her breath to keep her head from spinning.
Gale brought about cyclones from his breath and around his arms, breaking through the rocks around him before launching them downwards.
"RUMBLEEE..." The stone pillars descended back into the earth. "Upheaval!" Daiyu had manually pulled Jotou towards Arabella before she stomped the ground and the earth cracked and jumped into the air, shielding the three for long enough from the barrage.
"Idiot, keep the barrier," Jotou grunted.
"Shut it!" "CRASH!" The platform landed back into the ground and sand.
Fumeko opened her eyes, only to see words written in the air. ’Go Meko Go! Never Give Up!’ The lights told. "Twit," Fumeko grunted and gave a half-cocked grin.
She gripped the dagger tight and stepped into shadow. The shadow-enveloped form, unable to see anything till the shadows popped her out again in the air.
Gale saw the brunette blinking through the air and looked back to his base. The twisters formed around his arms and he turned around, blood dripping down his body and his arms going limper by the second.
"Tsss..." Something seared and the scent of burning blood got to Gale’s senses before the pain. He peered below to see a bright white butterfly whizz past his knees, scorching past them.
The illusion of the serpent lunged forth right in front of him and he blocked with gusts of air, only for the serpent to pass right through him.
However, by the tip of her wand, Asobi from below manifested dozens of butterflies that drifted forth in a small swarm towards him. Gale turned and blocked with the wind, but a brunette appeared right in front of his face.
"BLAST!" A gust of wind he blew from his breath and his eyes widened, the illusions of butterflies made through his wind and only then did they start manifesting into reality and started to—"TSSS!"—scorched through his robes and skin.
"RAAAHHH!!" he screamed and the winds pushed the butterflies down into the ground. Blood trickled down his nose and burst his lips as he pushed his affinity to the limit and began a cyclone around him.
"Woosh!" Fumeko blinked before the winds could cover him and... "Slash," So clean; a perfect cut from one side of the neck to the other.
Through the robe, across the neck, the dagger of purple gleamed through, shredding through crimson. Gale’s eyes widened, his lips quivered, "...Finally..." the morose expression returned as his eyes began rolling back.
Yet, the winds around had not ended... Fumeko, "Oh shit," blinked away and down to Asobi. "Go, go, go!" she pushed the magician into a sprint and blinked away.
Jotou and Arabella were helped up onto their feet, Daiyu holding them each by an arm. All three gawked to the two fleeing in their direction.
The gales twisted and twisted, surrounding his dying form and- "Chk... tck..." His body began ripping asunder. "SPLASH!" The squalls bashed the sides of the chasm, rumbling the loose rocks on the ground.
Into the air Gale went, piece by piece; so small they might as well be grains of sand. All of them blocked the incoming shower of sanguine fluid.
Asobi tugged on the sides of her enchanted hat as the brim of it expanded and popped out with cloth hidden in compartments within, creating a wide umbrella which Fumeko and her hid under. "Yuck," Asobi cringed.
Jotou peered around in disgust, unable to deflect the blood and gore. Arabella held her broken fingers and stood carefully in her bent armour. "HAHA!" Daiyu cackled into the sky. "We got him! One of the elites!" nothing but pure amusement painted across.
The others forced smiles and nodded, holding their injured bodies, Asobi being the only one unscathed. Fumeko sighed and keeled over, "I think a lot of things are broken... I’ll never walk again..."
Jotou rolled her eyes. They had done it. The stone pillars had crumbled, the soldiers peered out from cover. One of the elite soldiers of the Trailon Regime; the Encircling Gale, defeated. One large step to victory. Still, one step out of many...
