Reincarnated With a SSS-Rank Hypnosis Skill in Another World-Chapter 33 - Another Quest From an Unknown God
A cloud of thick poison immediately began surrounding him. Within seconds, it became impossible to see him as he hid inside his poison.
It was dark green and, more importantly, the power it exuded was extremely powerful. There was no doubt in my mind that my body wouldn’t be able to handle this kind of poison. If it touched my skin for a few seconds, it would already start to affect me greatly, maybe even pushing me to my defeat.
There was also this small thought in the back of my mind that the God of Poison was watching from above, waiting for the right moment to intervene.
I had seen how angry he had been before leaving.
He had also directly threatened me.
There was no doubt he would try to make a move soon. Nevertheless, I had also gained the skill Last Stand, which could be useful in this fight. However... I didn’t want to use it so early. The cooldown was one week. I needed to keep it all the way to the final.
Even in the crowd, murmurs erupted.
"Why isn’t he moving?"
"Is it impossible for him to enter this poison?"
"Is the Snider Household really about to defeat the new fiancée of the Royal Princess?"
They were already talking about all kinds of things, distracting me. However, it didn’t take long for me to get back into it, completely focused, devoid of any thoughts that could take me away from winning this whole thing.
I needed to try something like attacking from long range.
"He has four affinities. Hiding in that cloud of poison won’t save him if he gets bombarded by dozens of spells," another person in the crowd mentioned.
And for once, I couldn’t help but agree with them. At least, I would have agreed except that I could barely use my affinities.
I only had [Fireball] to attack from a distance.
’Let’s make a big one. A fireball so big that he can’t dodge,’ I thought in the back of my mind as I began pulling Mana from my Mana Core in huge quantities, a small fireball immediately appearing in my right hand, slowly but surely growing in size.
It started as a pebble, grew into a large stone, and by the end, it became as big as a meteor, ready to strike down.
I looked at it and smirked.
’I might have gone too far, actually. What if I kill him...?’
However, that question vanished from my mind as I began lowering my hand and launched the Fireball into that cloud of poison with a smile on my face.
I was ready for Vex to come out of it. I would use [Blink] as soon as he did that, getting much closer to him.
And just like I had thought, as the Fireball began heading in the direction of the poison, Vex finally revealed himself.
"Not a bad idea, though that probably drained a lot of your mana, didn’t it?" he said with a smirk.
But before he could create a new cloud of poison, I knew I needed to act, which is exactly what I did.
Blinking before him. However, I hadn’t cast my fireball like previously, meaning that I just stood before him as he looked me in the eyes with a smirk.
"Too slow."
He had already cast a strong poison in his right palm as he grabbed my arm, immediately hurting it a great deal. I could feel my skin disintegrating in real time. It was as if I had my hand in one of the most toxic substances ever created.
"AHHH!"
I had no choice but to scream in pain.
I couldn’t pull my arm away from him.
I could feel that I no longer had any skin under his grip. His poison had already begun attacking my bones, and it was the same result again.
If I didn’t get away from him, I would be losing the use of my right arm, and I would have to fight until the end of the fight at a disadvantage.
’Fuck...’ I thought in the back of my mind with a frown. ’Seems like I have no choice but to use that...’
I clenched my jaw as I grabbed my Blood Dagger, hidden behind my ankle with my left arm, and immediately lunged at his right arm, grazing him as he finally let go of me.
However, that was exactly what I needed because just like back then, I could hear his heartbeat; I could sense his next attack, I could anticipate his every move before he would do them.
This fight was over now. I had won.
I only needed to conclude it.
Vex frowned at the sight of my dagger.
"Hiding a weapon... how pathetic and unsightly..."
It was clear that the small cut from the dagger had affected him a lot. After all, this weapon was extremely powerful, much more powerful than he probably thought.
He summoned poison in his right hand again, and immediately I reacted. I smirked, and just as he tried to grab me with it, I barely dodged and countered instantly, giving another cut, this time on his cheek, right below his eye.
His eyes widened as he barely managed to evade this strike of mine.
"Y-You..." He frowned and took a few steps back, trying to cast an even bigger spell. But now that I had gotten the advantage, I wouldn’t let him do as he pleased. I used Blink once more and arrived right before him as I slid the dagger under his neck.
"Give up. You lost."
"H-How... how did you do that?" he asked with a frown.
I smirked. "Do what?"
"That... at the end... it was as if you read into my mind, always able to react before I even acted. It was as if I no longer had any chances of beating you. Just how?"
I didn’t say anything as I still waited for him to give up. But then, just as his mouth opened once more, a strong poison began releasing from his body.
What was really strange about it was that I hadn’t felt it in advance, as if Vex himself hadn’t planned on using such a spell.
’Don’t tell me...’
